Andrew W.K. to host 'Destroy Build Destroy' on Cartoon Network

Andrew W.K. has a new gig involving metal: The rocker will host Cartoon Network’s live-action reality competition Destroy Build Destroy, EW.com has learned. Each week two teams of teens — with the help of experts, wrecking balls, and explosions — obliterate some sort of large-scale vehicle or machine, then create something entirely different out of it. The winners get to annihilate the losers’ work. Destroy Build Destroy will debut this summer.

This sounds so ridiculously awesome that I’m willing to forgo my usual rant about CN trying to compete with Nick and Disney with live action shows. (You’re CARTOON network! Just be that! Okay, mostly forgo.)

  • jen

okaaay… when CARTOON network starts having live-action shows, and reality at that, something’s wrong. can’t they just bring back the old hanna-barbaras and looney toons? or do some original stuff like powerpuff girls and dexter’s lab back in the day? what happend to good cartoons, anyway?

  • wilhelmscream85

dude, are you serious? dexters lab and powerpuff girls are good? you’re jacked! those two shows alone marked the beginning of the end for animation. PS, Andrew W.K. is an amazing host. You’ll see my friend. You’ll see.

Furthermore, Adult Swim is totally different than Cartoon Network… Get real. You think Cartoon Network is going to turn into MTV??!! That’s rediculous. Get behind Andrew and he’ll take you to the future.

NEW CARTOON NETWORK STUFF SUCKS ASSSSS WHAT HAPPENED TO ROCKOS MODERN LIFE
i think andrew has this kind of correct mentality and he will bring glory back to what cartoon network should be.

    • ToXiXXX

Rockos modern life was aired on nickelodeon, moron.
But anyways, Anybody remember the old radio adverts for cartoon network? In case you don’t all cartoons all the time 24/7, What a crock of shit.
And why in the hell would anybody want andrew W.K. to host a childrens show, and hell, a knockoff childrens show at that, Irrefutably ridiculous.

The explosions aren’t the option choices picked, they are from secondary explosions made to “mimic” the picked option. As in the second episode (since I just saw it) the remote control car used to blow up the other teams rig wasn’t real. A real explosion was triggered when the car got underneath the vehicle. You can easily see it in slow-mo as well as they show the end of the car (t-n-t bundles and all) in one of the scenes of the flaming wreckage.
I don’t really know that I expected it to be real, but I wish it would have been better faked – I wasn’t even trying to spot it and I noticed the explosions didn’t fit the option given.
