Exclusive: 'Grey's' widower heats up 'Burn Notice'

Tagged:

Burnnotice_lBurn Notice has tapped Tony and Golden Globe-nominated actor Ben Shenkman to join the cast as the man of Michael Westen’s dreams: a dude who can make his burn notice disappear forever.

Shenkman, last seen raging against Derek for killing his ailing wife on Grey’s Anatomy, will play the recurring role of Tom Strickler, a smooth-talking, gregarious freelance spy broker who offers to cancel Michael’s (Jeffrey Donovan) burn notice in exchange for an unspecified — and potentially lethal — job.

Shenkman’s on board for a minimum of four episodes, the first of which will air midway through the show’s third season (debuting in June).

Can you REALLY call him a Grey’s Alum? He appeared in like 2 episodes. I hardly remember him.
Anyways, good for him and the show, but the headline is misleading.

I’m stoked, i really liked him in Angels in America.

So excited for new a Burn Notice season! Can’t hardly wait!

  • Steph

I disagree, Adam. There are people who come on Grey’s and leave having made a very memorable impression. Ben Shenkman was definitely one of those guys. How many other men have verbally ripped apart Dr. McDreamy the way that guy did? Seriously…

Agreed! Title completely misleading! I don’t really remember him either, I needed to read to see what he played.

  • Maria

Agree with Adam, I thought it was something/someone big.

  • scar2

He was also nominated for an Emmy for Angels in America.

  • Carrie

I don’t care who’s guest starring on the show, I just love it. (They always have great guest actors.) Can’t wait for new episodes!

    Ausiello you evil Minx!!
you teased and teased about the double wedding in the Chuck Season(series? noooooo!!!!)finale only for fans to find out that “double” simply meant the same wedding twice!! you evil Minx!
    I’m coming to get ya!

Re: Adam and scar2: you’re both right. If you want to give him casting notices, call him by his truly remarkable, memorable work: as Louis in the HBO adaptation of “Angels in America.” A totally extraordinary performance, way better than his schlocky stint on Grey’s.

  • Adam

If he was nominated for Angels in America, why not just put Emmy Nominee in the headline lol

Yeah, I am with others here. This guy was Emmy nominated for his performance in Angels in America. the same performance that earned him the cited Tony nomination. Surely that work had more impact than a guest stint on Grey’s Anatomy?

Mr. Ausiello, most viewers of Burn Notice don’t watch it, because of guest stars. We want to be entertained, after a long day of well, crap. Crap from work, from taking care of unruly kids that we love. From a boss that never understands why we are late for work, two or three times a year. Never mind the fact that HE is late, more often than not. Husbands, who won’t mow the lawn, because HE knows if He puts it off, just one more day, then his wife will have too. From wives who can’t know what it’s like trying to complete a contract on time. We deserve at least one hour of down time. Burn Notice and Mr. Donovan takes us away from all this, what’s the word I’m searching for, oh yeah, crap. I could watch this show every night, and not get tired of it. Mr. Donovan and His two co-stars are enough for me. I don’t need anyone else cluttering up my overworked, and underpaid mind. Have a pleasant day.

Colleen: The Tony nomination was for his starring role opposite Mary Louise Parker in the original production of “Proof” on Broadway. What’s worthwhile about noting “Angels” as his identifying role is that he took the most unlikable character in that piece (Louis the abandoner) and brought out his humanity and vulnerability. If you thought his explosions of grief on Grey’s was what made him a good actor, that movie is four hours of nothing but him wrestling with his own guilt. Way better writing, and a far more magnetic performance, than what he turned in as a cameo on Grey’s.

this show is great – but I could care less about this guy. I could care less about Grey’s.
