Did anyone else see that on Wikipedia’s American Idol page they had that Allison was leaving before they even anounced anything?
Wow. There is a huge difference between pulling a “bad note”, which all singers do occasionally and whatever that was that Gokey did the other night. The wannabe factor killed a lot of cats in the neighborhood in LA that night.

i love adam, they love adam… Yay;p ADAM FTW!!!
People need to get over Allison going home already! She did well, and will have doors opened for her, but, she wasn’t everyone’s taste. I liked her, but, her hoarseness was not my preference to listen to week after week. She did do janis spectacularly, and while it was ironic this was the number that sent her home, I am still not upset. She’s an incredible talent, and hopefully, she’ll have doors open to have a fantastic career. Maybe in a previous year she’d have had the ability to become American idol, but, she wasn’t the best singer this year. We all have different tastes. I didn’t think she was the best, and obviously others in America didn’t warm up to her the way they voted for the others. End of story.
Danny has been disappointing in some of the songs he has sung, but, he actually has an incredible voice. I’m not defending him, because, I’m an Adam fan 100%, but, I’m tired of hearing how he should have gone home instead of Allison. I thought Allison sung well this week, but, she wasn’t
my favorite female singer, Alexis was. Ironically, Alexis left before the top 10, so, at least Allison will go on the tour this summer.
I know it shouldn’t matter, but, Allison doesn’t convey the same kind of charisma that Kris and Adam have. She turned some people off with her appearance. We’re a shallow culture, and someone like Gwen Stefani who doesn’t hold a candle to Allison’s singing talent, is a superstar, while great singers like Allison, struggle to find the opportunities. At least Allison had the chance to win over millions of new fans, giving her a boost over other struggling singers with as much talent as she had.
Nick
Queen had FOUR song writters. Mr Decon actually has had one of the bigger hits (Another one Bites the Dust) because I am assuming you are forgetting him? Roger Brian, John and Freddie all wrote hits! For example We will rock you and We are the Champions, usually played back to back as a double A side in the USA when on the charts, were Brian and Freddie.
Ok I miss read it you forgot Roger Taylor
His biggest hit would be Radio Ga Ga… and I think Queen was not too popular in the States for the Works onwards.
As for Johns. Leave him alone, at least he can sing Dream on
I live in Milwaukee and now have to deal with Danny mania as I try to head home…UGH (I don’t dislike Danny, I just live near where this is all going to happen)
All of my votes go to Kris Allen. I love his musicianship. He is an outstanding guitar and keyboard player, manages to make any song from any genre into a Kris Allen original. Some of the best moments of season 8 for me have been Kris Allen moments. Plus, there is just something really likeable about the guy. Love his smile and that he doesn’t take himself too seriously. I will buy any album he puts out and hope he gets the chance to record some acoustic tracks. His voice is just beautiful when it isn’t over powered by the big band. Glambert is very talented, just not my kind of performer and I have never really gotten the big push by AI for Danny Gokey. He has a nice voice usually. Didn’t do well this past week, but has in the past and will again. Again. He is just not my kind of singer. I am less interested in the big power belters than I am in the quieter more melodic vibe of a Kris.
Nick before you fly off the handle, reread that section, it is quite clear to me Johns was misquoted in that segment, the sentence doesn’t make sense because the question about what song should Adam be singing, nothing about writing. Even EW is not infallible.
Actually Scissor Sisters would be a very cool choice but not sure how much of the AI audience would appreciate the choice. I think it is wise for Adam to stay away from Queen and frankly I would prefer to see him do something more like Mad World and show that softer side because less can be more. That performance was the first to get me to reconsider my opinion of Adam.
However can’t say I agree about his assessment of Gokey and I am a Johns fan, though I have not listened to the studio versions of Gokey’s AI songs but EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion. Gokey could have a great career in the field of Christan rock I suppose. No shame in that.
Jon Peter Lewis’ comment:
“Those early front runners who have been consistent all the way through, like Melinda Doolittle, David Archuleta, Chris Daughtry — all these people, early on in the show, we really loved them. And then by around this point in the show, that moment came and went for us.”
Not true for David Archuleta (not Daughtry either..his early exit was a “fluke” of fans like myself, who weren’t bothering to vote, I think..)
Maybe the fence sitters, or those that “didn’t get the hype” about David A. were “over it”, but they were never really on board. But David didn’t burn out or get stale by any means…he continued to grow and wow fans, and PEAKED big time on Finale night, which was flawless.
