Random scooplets: 'Dollhouse' renewed! Jorja Fox returns! 'Housewives' finale buzz!

•    I just upgraded Dollhouse from "prospects brightening" to “renewed” on my Fall TV Cheat Sheet amidst news that Fox has picked up the Read the full post.

I’m insanely happy that Dollhouse got renewed. It’s only 13 episodes but that’s 13 more than I thought they’d get. I’ll be sad if there’s not more Amy Acker though. I heard she doing a pilot for ABC. She’s great as Whiskey.

T:TSCC better than Dollhouse? Come on! Shirley Manson as a mimetic polyalloy toilet? Time travel as a revolving door? Leave Terminator to the movies where the budget and writing can match the quality of the acting.

  • Jamie

Yea!! Dollhouse!! Great work, ladies & gents. And leave Topher alone — we still have to find out if he’s a doll — who names their kid Topher, anyhow!? Heh-heh-heh…

Dullhouse renewed? Why? Dumb move Fox? Only way this show could go on is if you fired all the writers.
Hey, I know, let’s find other shows where the ratings are trailing off and renew them, too! Pathetic.

LOVE Topher! He’s has layers to his character that we haven’t seen uncovered yet. That’s a testament to the actor’s ability. Eliza’s acting, sorry guys, leaves me longing for them to cut “Echo” from the show. The other dolls are so much more interesting and better-acted. I know all the guys find Eliza hot especially with the skimpy costumes they put her in, but (and I do know something about acting–we shouldn’t assume that people posting here know nothing about acting) she goes thru most of the episodes like she’s in a perpetual fog (maybe that’s her idea of how a doll acts-ha).

Yes, T:TSCC is a much better show than this crap. This show is just an excuse to put Dushku in skimpy clothing. A worthy goal, but not worth canceling T:TSCC

  • Save Topher

I didn’t mind Topher — in fact, I kinda like the guy. Then again, I liked Julian Sark, too (from Alias).
But beyond basic like/don’t like, he’s _really_ one of the most interesting folks in the Dollhouse, as a character. Not just that he has an unknown past that no doubt contains plenty of twist-generating details (like DeWitt), but the character itself is more complicated.
If you can’t get past the (potentially annoying) top layer, but see only a shallow caricature, it’s because you’ve already decided that’s what you’ll see; we do have an amazing capacity for self-deception.

I’m genuinely surprised at how much I have come to enjoy this show! It’s great to hear that it will be around for another(short)season.
Oh, and Topher? He’s actually pretty good for comic relief, don’t you think?

That’s great about “Dollhouse”. It’s a show that started a little iffy, but got better and better and by the end of the season was great (Dushku was right; at about episode 4 it began to really get its mojo). I look forward to another season. I’m glad FOX didn’t pull a “Firefly”.

  • Lester

This show sucks big time. Trust the idiots that run the network to cancel Firefly after only one season but renew Dollhouse. The worst part is I have to continue watching this abomination in the hope that there will be a good episode some day.

  • Fluffy

    It wont last long

  • Lexi

Joss, don’t listen to Ausiello! Leave Topher alone, he rocks! Some of the best scenes include him. Very much looking forward to the new season.

  • Hannah

I’m really excited to see Dollhouse return. I think another season will really give the show a chance to explore the real “purpose” of the Dollhouse; they’ve already told us there is more to it than the exploitation/fantasy-granting factor. Is it political? Religious? Militaristic? What? I must know!
