What a horrible ending. I was crying so hard that my cat came up to me and started meowing at me. Michael and Sara deserved happyness. This sucked big time. I was going to buy the whole series on DVD but now I don’t think I want to. I can’t watch it knowing he dies in the end. The producers really screwed us all over. What a bunch of jerks. Why on earth couldn’t they have given us a happy ending?

I’m also very sad that Michael died, but I think that this decision perfectly parallels Michael’s initial sacrificial, martyr characteristics, which is where the show began. So now, with his final sacrifice, it has come full circle. In addition, the ending puts the show into a more realistic perspective – not all endings are happy endings, so why should we expect all film/tv endings to be happy? Just because they’re fiction?

Anyone want to buy a slightly used Season 1 on DVD? I’m certainly never going to watch it again after this, knowing what lies in store for Michael at the end of it all.
Maybe it’s good that it ended this way. Now I don’t feel compelled to go out and buy all the other seasons on DVD or the movie.

i hated the frequent trips to the warehouse back to the condo and back again.
i love that t-bag is back in jail!!!
i love that sucre and kellerman (sexy beast!) came back.
i was scared that the boys would end up the jail again…framed!
i knew that malone and his fbi partner had a thing!
glad linc lived and glad that mike and sara had time for some happiness!

You know, if there will be an extended finale on DVD, I really hope this is just the way the other characters are protecting Michael by faking his death for whatever reason. If not, I will continue to be disappointed at such unexpected outcome and conclusion. The writers could have at least have the decency to consult with the fans about alternate or possible endings given that their creative juices are definitely questionable. Very upset at the finale, can’t you tell?

  • Chrissy

And WTF is up with everyone saying this is a more realistic ending? Like this show was EVER realistic to begin with. That’s what I liked about it. Because no matter what kind of scrape the brothers got into, they always managed to find a way out. If you ask me, the writers actually destroyed the premise of the show with this ending.

hey, i get the happy ending with michael and sars…i dont get the date on the grave stone? it said 11 7 05, i think. if i am correct that means we the viewers watch 3 months in 4 years? also is michael really dead? her brother put an oragami on his grave stone… i think he is dead, though. i understand everything. i dont understand if what the fans saw on tv happened back in 2005 from AUGUST 29?-NOVEMBER 11 2005? so are we to assume michael killed himself? or died from brain tumor/cancer? and michael did not have to die, we know the company cured him, why change that? i am happy over all with the series i understand so much can be done about prison breaks. i was a fan episode 1 to the finale and the pre-equal coming to DVD JULY 28, 09!!!! Thank you for bringing PAUL ALDELSTEIN back!!!! he is an AMAZING actor, as is the WHOLE CAST!!! THANK YOU PRISON BREAK FOR MAKING MONDAYS NIGHT WORTHWHILE FOR FOUR YEARS!!! THANK YOU PB!!!!!

I still can’t stop crying. It’s was the most fantastic ending to a series that I have ever seen. Sure it was extremely sad (proof of this will me my extremely puffy eyes tomorrow morning) but at least everything was wrapped up and there are no unanswered questions. This finale toyed with my emotions quite a bit and I thought it was fantastic! Sure it would have been great if Michael and Sara lived happily ever after, but since when do tv shows end up like that? It was an interesting twist to say the least. Personally, I loved it!

I felt a bit gipped by the finale… I know the happy ending can be cliche, but he was always the character to have a moral conscience. He sacrificed everything to save his brother, his family, his friends and to reward him by letting him die from the brain tumor (which the Company supposedly fixed earlier in the season) seemed like a cop out. I think they should’ve rewarded his moral fiber instead of demonstrating how unfair life can be… this is television and sometimes people deserve that happy ending.

  • Lisa

I keep hearing that Michael made the ulitmate sacrifice. What are you guys talking about? What sacrifice did he make? He did not kill himself, his illness came back.

  • t3hdow

I don’t get all these remarks about this NOT being a happy ending because Michael died. Uh, hello? What show are you guys watching? Did you forget how many innocent people got brutally murdered over the course of this show? Veronica? Tweener? Mahone’s son? The bad guys were in the pilot seat with the convicts struggling to survive, up until this season. Let’s not forget all the paranoia Michael faced, not knowing who to trust. I’m surprised it didn’t end on a darker note. Now, every major villain left over is either dead or imprisoned, and every good guy remaining lives a relatively nice life, scott free of all charges. In real life, some of the remaining bad guys would still be roaming free and wreaking havoc, half of the remaining good guys would have been killed, and the other half still on the run or hiding. Even with Michael’s death, this is as optimistic an ending as you can get after everything that happened.

If there was a need to make Michael “balance the books” he should have died in the fight, not later from an illness. It didn’t seem to convey Matt’s point that he should die so his son and others could live. I have the feeling they dragged it out so they could make this prequel movie (which I will not be watching). I wish I’d turned it off before the last sequence, (although the wrap ups for T-Bag and Kellerman, two of my favorites, were perfect).

  • viewer

i cried too. i was hurt that they actually killed him. so the prison break, the train, the vp/president, panama, the company, mexico, the guy with the cat, sara’s fake death, the ware house, their dad, their mom, ted king? andy from charmed and alcazar from general hospital, michael’s brother’s gf being killed…
ALL of this happened from late AUGUST 2005 TO NOVEMEBER 2005? so 2-3 months got spread out 4 years? i wish the time frame was real time..and i’d agree with the finale.

  • blakeney

I am so glad I stopped watching this show in season 2. I loved most of the characters but didn’t care for the sleazy stuff (the lap dance Michael’s “wife” does for the prison guard was my breaking point), and there is only so much darkness I can take.
And though I see the appropriateness of Michael dying at the end, I agree that it screws the fans over who loved the show. If people wanted nothing but gritty reality, why would anyone watch tv?

It didn’t say father on the tombstone that was for sure, so obviously he never met his son. Gretchen best be in dvd movie!
