i loved this final…I cried like crazy, I told that I hate the author, but this is life, this happen…If everything ended like: “happy forever” …is one more serie…one more history…one more movie…
I died for love, he made his choice, because he wants to save Sara and his son…this is beaultiffull…sad…but realisty.
now i think that i lived this end…

Knowing this ending noone will buy your DVDs. Very stupid decision

having Scofield die as the end is so totally not a judicious note to put the series off!… it wasnt his intent to cause all the death toll down tle line, and he turns out the ever so righteous one ,when he shows tolerance against the hideous hitters Tbag and the lot,, when he has the opportunities to litrally ‘savour’ a deadly inflict at them in revenge!
i ABSOLUTELY dont understand what “pillars” the show team wishes to build by projecting his demise , at the wrap-up.
    lousy end.

Perfect ending. The series had our emotions up and down on a roller coaster ride, and ending the way it did closed it out on a very emotional level.

    Loved the song, too, BTW.

I felt the same way when Ripley died in the third Alien film. Felt like I couldn’t suspend my disbelief after that.
But Prison Break execs are just following the same universal laws that began with the Greek Tragedies three thousand years ago.
If you commit crime, you must be punished.
Michael’s actions killed people directly, he has to be punished.
It’s very insidious but justice must be seen to be done, even in TV land (its how they keep us all compliant) x

I just watched the entire series in about 3 weeks time. Fell in love with it almost immediately and even stayed up several nights to get in more episodes. Just saw the endings last night. I’m absolutely gutted by how it ended. Even lost sleep over it. I’m so incredibly disappointed. HATED that they killed off Michael, HATED the way the ended it with the tombstone and then the way they “explained” it in the final “movie”. Also hated the way Sara wasn’t exactly devastated by his death. It was confusing and shocking and not in a good way, and…did I mention I hated it?

Wow everyone whos saying this ending is bad are idiots, the show ended perfectly, he died a hero which gave the ending more of a connection to the viewers, if it was just another typical ‘happyily eve after’ ending, i know i wouldnt have connected as much with the ending. It leaves you thinking about the series and how successful it was, and how well played the story was. Michael was a heroic charactor and he himself felt guilty for all the lives that were taken, im not saying he would of wanted to die, but he definitely would of chose any other persons (of the main charactors) to live. Great show, i regret only watching the 1st season on tv and not watching the rest, til it ended though. But i personally think its a great ending to a fantastic show, Its definitely high in my top 5 all-time favourate tv shows.

I just finished watching four seasons of “Prison Break” and “The Final Break” on DVD. I was searching the Internet to see if there was another sequel. I hope there is, and that Wentworth Miller’s character, Michael, lives.

If characters are developed properly in a book or movie, I become emotionally involved with their lives. A friend of mine often says, “It’s just a movie.” In my mind I know this, but on a deeper level I connect with the characters. If a main character dies, I go through a type of mourning. I ask if the “hero” dies in a movie before I watch it. I look at the last page of a book before I read it. Life has happy and sad elements; that’s reality. But I don’t choose to go through that pain and call it entertainment!

The idea that Michael needed to pay with his life for what he had done is absurd. He was the least selfish and had the kindest, most loving nature of any character in the series. He saved lives. He proved several times that he would sacrifice his life for another. Many people died because of the evil intentions of others, but not by his hand. He was instrumental in bringing the “villains” to justice, which would save future lives. Other characters that were alive at the end had committed wrong acts, but became better people because of him.

Did the end justify the means? Would he have been a more honorable man if he had done nothing to save his brother, if he just had let him die and allow the people who were responsible to continue killing innocent people? The producer’s explanation is not consistent with the tone of the film. He wants us to believe that Michael needed to lose his life to atone for his wrong doings and satisfy his guilt. Is it justice that his child must live without a father and that Sara did not have one full day of happiness with her husband. As “the General” indicated, Michael’s pain at death would last a moment, but his family’s pain would last the rest of their lives.

Michael’s biggest flaw was that he believed he was responsible for other people’s actions, especially Sara’s. Sara made her own choice to become evolved, and it was her choice to deal with that decision in the way she did.

The writers and producers can create whatever ending they want; but I will be cautious of watching any other of their creations if they choose to end with Michael’s death.

Precisely my thoughts!!! What a terrible idea for the ending of this show. I’m going to blacklist all of the production people involved with this crap as well.

lol…. i mean full offense when i say honestly and with full comprehension of the meaning that you at best have a lack of IQ, sad that it is your rationale is well… stupid at best, and in your rationale you not only prove how much you lack but you contradict yourself… “At the same time, the idea of simply having Michael and Sara walk out in the sunset would have been not in tune with the series, even if that was what most fans would have wanted.” IDK where you got this idea lol simply put and quite frankly the FANS are what produce the money to even make the show, the SHOW is made for the FANS yes? well… logically… should the ending not also not be made for the fans?… Also IDK what you have been smoking or where you got your credentials but dying slowly and painfully of a brain tumor as your family watches leaving your child to grow up without a father is happy? seriously its not happy and its heroic and its not a final sacrafice especaily if the conflict ended much earlier. To summerize, you sir are an imbecile, have no idea how things should go in the movie industry, and are a horrible person because for some strange reason you find joy in the fact that a loving wife had to watch her husband die slowly and painfully after she had already lost all other family she had, and then was raising her child alone fatherless… seriously your kinda sick for saying thats happy

I am so disgusted. Found this series via Netflix streaming quite recently, and agree w/most that it was a horrible ending. My kids were also hooked and in disbelief at the end. Isn’t life sad enough? Can’t our “escapism” be what people crave: that happily ever after? I only let the kids see the first few minutes of the final episode, at which point I told them Michael’s death was ‘faked’ so he could save Sarah, and that he was really alive. Shame on these creators and producers and writers. I’ve made a list of all their names. I’ll NEVER watch another show by these people again. They should be ashamed of themselves for ending it this way.

I was sad to see him go.. he did deserve a happy ending and it sucks he didnt get to raise his son and she has no man now lol BUT if you think about it… People will always be after him cause of his skills… skills like that will attract all the wrong attention so they had to cut him out of it… BUT it did leave sara screwed on the fact she is now on the run herself and if shes caught what then…… that .. they didnt answer… Maybe since Mike was killed they dropped her charges but i didnt see them say that anywhere just that 4 years later she was still
    out and raising her son..

Well, I’m a bit late to the party as I don’t often watching TV. I, however, found this show on Netflix and had a bit of spare time so I started watching it. I was instantly hooked during the first few episodes in the first season….and continued to be hooked all the way to the finale. I sincerely wish I wouldn’t have been hooked, as the ending to this series really disappointed me. Yes, I agree that Michael and his gang left a trail behind them a mile wide…..but what choice did they have? No matter what action they attempted to take, some form of authority was on their tail trying to ruin their lives. Were they just supposed to allow it? Killing off Michael in the end didn’t balance anything out, what it did was ruin the entire series. If there was one thing that I thought any of the characters deserved, it was Michael and Sara getting to live out their lives after all the craziness was over in peace, with a safe and healthy child. Those were the only two characters in the entire show who still, even at the end (with characters like the General) still showed empathy towards their enemies. Yet they still kill Michael off and then attempt to defend that decision by saying that his hands are just as dirty as anyone else’s. What a bunch of crap….one of the worst decisions in the history of television.
