Bubble show updates: 'Cold Case' renewed, 'Sarah Connor' axed, and more

I just made the following updates to my Fall TV Cheat Sheet:

• Fox: Sarah Connor Chronicles has been officially
canceled. “[Sarah Connor] has completed its run,” Fox entertainment
president Kevin Reilly confirmed at a press conference this morning. “I
think it had a nice little run. It was a good show. It was not an
either or [with Dollhouse]. We did see it tailing off a bit [in the ratings]. It had a nice creative core, but, ultimately, we made the bet on Dollhouse, so that’s it for [Sarah Connor]… We make no apologies. We gave it a lot of support and some consistent scheduling. We tried and thought it was time to move on.”
• CBS: Cold Case has been renewed for a seventh season. However, Without a Trace is looking “unlikely” to return, insiders confirm.
• ABC: The Unusuals has been officially canceled.

For up-to-the-minute renewal-cancellation-pickup scuttlebutt throughout upfront week, stay close to both my blog (the one you’re reading now!) and Twitter feed. And to track the status of your favorite bubble show, there’s my Fall TV Cheat Sheet. Finally, for the official schedule announcements (beginning with Fox today) proceed to the Hollywood Insider blog.

I can’t believed Fox canceled Terminator:SCC!! Especially after it’s amazing finale, stupid economy! :(
I was also really enjoying the quirkiness of the Unusuals, I’ll miss not having a 2nd season. :(

  • Linds

It’s ridiculous that CBS would cancel WaT. It may be expensive to produce, but it’s still one of the top-rated shows. Yes, it’s dropped after they moved it and put it up against SVU, but it’s stood its own and still gotten high ratings. I’m shocked they’d renew Cold Case over it. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was something else going on there.

  • Alex

Wahhhhhhhhh I am so sad that Terminator got canceled. I also like Without the Trace & I’m sad that its practically canceled.

  • Carrie

I’m glad to hear that “Cold Case” has been renewed, but I’m extremely bummed about “Terminator”. Why would they cancel it now when the movie comes out on Thursday? They renewed “Dollhouse”, but not “Terminator”? Something is seriously wrong there.

  • danton

It’s a shame. Now I’ll start Dollhouse just to see whether it’s worth getting NOT CANCELED and beating a show like TSCC. I know I know, do not blame our mates. Congratulations to them though and from now on we officially must try to get used to the fact: we won’t ever get any normal closure (the original films don’t count, they’re just crap). Aren’t there any channels which could renew it for a 3rd season? If they don’t put it on friday TSCC could have more viewers. :( Is it the end of our hope? I guess…

Argh! how can they cancel Without a Trace???? really, CBS???

  • Adam

Can’t believe they are cancelling Without a Trace. Sad

Damn, no more TSCC.. i cant believe it. Please Scifi, pick up this series and show everyone what you can do with such an incredible show.

  • Ella

YAY!! Cold Case is coming back! While I used to love WAT, once they turned it into the Jack Malone show I stopped watching so it was over for me long ago. So now I have Cold Case and Chuck to look forward to so that is great!!

  • Meghan

Am I the only one sad about The Unusuals? Well, I guess that’s why it’s getting cancelled. Not surprised about TSCC or WaT. The former got boring before it got good and just bled viewers. The latter hasn’t been good since they decided the only characters on the show were annoying Jack and whiney Sam.

  • Vic Nardozza

Why should anyone invest in a network show anymore? They cancel any show not considered top 10 material and treat like dirt the viewers who are fans of the show.

  • Sparky

Not that shocked that WAT looks shaky. Creatively the show lost it for me the second part of Season 4. Shame they did nt get a chance to wrap up the storylines properly. Hope Eric Close can come back strong with a new show sooner rather than later.

  • Nate

TSCC needed to get cancelled, but Without a Trace over Cold Case really?

  • Hilsler

Wow seriously? Canceling “Without A Trace”?? That sucks.

  • dave

Meghan, you’re not alone. I’m terribly disappointed that ABC has canceled The Unusuals. I’m f***ing pissed, actually.
The Unusuals was one of my favorite new shows this year. It’s quirky and fun and has one of the best casts on TV. I absolutely loved Amber Tamblyn, Harold Perrineau, and Adam Goldberg. It’s the best cop show on TV (a million times better than the generic ones on CBS) and ABC barely gave it a chance.
I can’t believe ABC did this, especially after renewing Castle for another season. The Unusuals is much better than Castle, but Castle got lucky because ABC gave it the pimp time slot after Dancing with the Stars.
I should have known ABC would do this to The Unusuals. I never should have started watching it in the first place.
