I think Joss is taking the high road because he KNOWS it’s going to be a colossal failure. As Perez Hilton pointed out, Fran alienates their target audience right out of the gate by excluding Joss from the production which begs the question…who is going to pay to see this movie? NOT ME.

They yanked Whedon’s Firefox series; next they remake his Buffy series. What does H’Wood have against Whedon??? Why don’t they get how much we fans love Whedon’s work??? Hello? Anyone out there?

    • AnnaMossity

Well, you can’t love Joss Whedon’s work TOO much, if you think he had a show called “Firefox!!!” [Hint: Instead of 'woof, woof,' insert 'buzz, buzz'...]

  • red24

this is going to be terrible especially if sarah michelle gellar isnt in it she IS buffy and without joss it is going to completely suck. no one is going to spend money to see some fake and producers get ready for some hard core buffy fans hate mail.

  • CAndyman

Without Joss?? Two words, EPIC FAIL.
No way I’ll spend money to see it, it would be a betrayl of the universe he’s created. This is offensive and I refuse to see it.

i will be boycotting this movie like the last movie. what is Fox thinking? to make a quick back and try off all the core fans of the shows. who is with me, I want a movie with all involved, you cant have buffy without SArah M.G.! COME ON OR ANY OF THE ENTIRE CAST. ”
WORST MOVIE IDEA EVER” COMIC BOOK GUY

I’d love another go-’round in the Buffy-verse. There’s so many great characters that one would never get bored. I don’t even mind if Whedon is left out of it. But a REMAKE!?! Why don’t they tell a new story set in that world? Why go back when you could go forward?

    • AnnaMossity

Because they OWN the rights to that first “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” movie [that cinematic abortion w/ Luke Perry, Christy Swanson, Hilary Swank, Natasha Gregson Wagner, and even an un-speaking Ben Afleck] on which Joss Whedon was just the screenwriter, but they [the Kuzui's] do NOT have any claim to any of the characters from the later TELEVISION series–Thank GOD! To be honest, I kinda LIKED the Buffy movie, but it’s a snack, whereas the TV series was a 10-course meal. What’s Buffy without the subtext, man?! It’s gonna stink on ice!!

NO WAY would I watch this film without either Sarah Michelle Gellar or Joss Whedon. Except maybe to mock it endlessly like I did with “Twilight” (terrible movie but that made for great movie theater fun). Hollywood needs to stop hating on Joss. He’s brilliant, absolutely brilliant. In fact, they should hand over the reigns and tell him to make a full blown musical. That would be fabulous :)

  • lostinbuffy

Ok this isn’t even on the cards but what if JJ Abrams was involved? See, now you’re salivating, I bet! you can’t just assume any jossless Buffy would suck. Dollhouse has Joss and it sucks!

  • Alan

    Firefox… lol.

  • Oldespeed

Not to rain on you Joss Whedon fans, but Buffy was the last piece of anything he did good. Incase you have been under a rock, I advised you to watch Doll House, or watch Serenity which was absolutely horrible by the way. The smartest thing Hollywood can do is remake Buffy without Whedon. Whedon is a hack who thinks in a one dimensional box!

    • AnnaMossity

“Serenity” was horrible??! Maybe you just didn’t UNDERSTAND it, honey… It wasn’t a space soap opera, it was about how damaging the imperialism perpetrated by the United States can be on the rest of the world!!

  • Elizabeth

Someone should alert NASA that Hollywood is working to open a black hole of sucking *doom* right here in our own backyard. Sorry, but it’s not Buffy without Joss. If they get this thing off the ground, I say we all stage Firefly marathons on opening weekend. “Pbbbbttttth!” to whoever thought this one up.

  • RunWild

People seem to forget that there was a movie about Buffy before the tv show and that movie had NOTHING to do with Joss Whedon….

    • AnnaMossity

“that movie had NOTHING to do with Joss Whedon?!” He WROTE the screenplay, ya boob!

  • FoolMoon

To open the door to “into every generation a slayer is born” fine go with that if you think you have to but DONT CALL HER BUFFY! There is no Buffy except for SMG. And without Joss? Are you kidding? He wove the magic words that made the series what it was. That’s a God-given talent the man has and you just can’t replicate it that easily. Horrible..just horrible were the first words that came to mind when I saw the announcement yesterday.
