Scoop: 'Ghost Whisperer,' 'Tree Hill' do time warp (again)

One-tree-hill-whsiperer_l Okay, TV’s time jumping trend is officially Out. Of. Control.

A Ghost Whisperer insider confirms that producers of the CBS drama are toying with the idea of kicking the new season off five years into the future. The move would allow the show to introduce Jim and Melinda’s son as a pre-schooler instead of as a newborn.

As you’ll recall, the season ended with Melinda learning that her offspring would possess psychic powers even greater than her own. Probably a tough story to do with a burping, teething toddler.

Meanwhile, One Tree Hill — which famously leaped ahead four years at the start of season 5 — is mulling another flash forward at the onset of season 7 this fall. But this one’s not nearly as drastic; a OTH source says the action would likely pick up just one year later.

Great, piss off the G.W fans again! Fast Forwards are dumb I think.

A short-time jump for OTH could help explain why CMM and Hilarie Burton left…

  • Christine

i am all for it if it means OTH recasts the role of Jamie… i find the kid that plays him totally obnoxious… or maybe he could be away at boarding school? that would be good too!

    • Charlotte

lol I agree with your comment about Jamie. I mean, he’ cute, but he’s not the best child actor I’ve ever seen, whenever he says anything you can tell he’s just revised it word for word of a script, and leaves no imagintion to it.

      • alex

yep and when they tell him to act “excited” he does that out of breath thing where he goes “mommy!!! mommy!!!” its really annoying.

  • seekay

just keep repeating the phrase “JUMP THE SHARK”"JUMP THE SHARK”"JUMP THE SHARK”"JUMP THE SHARK”"JUMP THE SHARK”"JUMP THE SHARK”
and wave buh bye to these shows :)
move along home ppl, nothing here to see….

  • christina

well it looks like Ghost Whisperer is a go-ahead, since they are casting for the kid.

  • Bryan

makes sense how else are they going to explain the lucas and peyton leaving

  • chuck

I like Jennifer Love Hewitt and the cast of Ghost Whisperer, I just wish they were all on a different show. I don’t buy Psychic abilities at all so Its hard to buy the premise week in and week out. Still the programs a solid hit

I can see why they have to do the time jump on GW, but they should have thought of that sooner… they should have pushed off killing Jim and getting Melinda pregnant until the final season of the show because I’m scared the whole child story line could potentially cause GW to officially jump the shark.

The GW time jump makes sense, but they should have thought about this sooner. They should have done the whole kill Jim and get Melinda pregnant story line on the final season so that we get a happy ending with Jim and Melinda having a baby born, etc…. I’m just worried that the child story line could potentially cause GW to offically jump the shark, and I would hate to see that happen.

  • M.

It does make sense for both shows seeing as with GW it’s hard to have the supernatural child’s gifts manifest with a baby.
And with OTH they have to explain the absence of CMM and HB somehow right? I’m not going to knock it because I thought OTH might suck after the 4 year jump and it didn’t. So who knows. As for those saying Ausiello’s scoop isn’t original, how do we know that he didn’t get his info on this at the same time as the other site. Sometimes news leaks to more than one source at a time. Maybe he had it first but didn’t get a chance to post it yet. Who knows unless you were there, so simmer down, and enjoy the news wherever it comes from :-)

  • Ceal

i agree with the jump forward for OTH, it will totally help with CMM and Hil leaving, the first four season were set in just a two year span so when they did the 4 year jump it was nice to get away from the high school drama and on to real life stuff and the show has never been better. i trust in Mark and the writing team so they can do this.

stopped watching GW whenthey killed Jim AND PUT HIM IN ANOTHER BODY ONLY TO HAVE MELINDA FALL INLOVE WITH ‘BODY’…..REEKS OF SHARKS CIRCLING THE SHOW. THE ONLY SHOW WORSE THAT THAT WAS THE WHOLE MAKING LOVE TO A DEAD DENNY STORYLINE ON gREYS ANATOMY !!! Sorry for caps…Ausiello, you’re awesome !!!!

Courtney: I completely agree with your comment!
