Despite reports that TBS was on the verge of rescuing My Name is Earl from NBC’s scrap heap, a spokesperson for Twentieth Century Fox Television confirms that the Emmy-winning comedy is officially dead.
In a statement, the studio rep said, “While we had hoped to find a way to produce additional episodes for TBS, in the final analysis we simply could not make the economics work without seriously undermining the artistic integrity of the series. As none of us, [series creator] Greg [Garcia] included, want the show to go out on anything but a high note, we regret that we must put to rest any speculation that Earl will continue. We are grateful to everyone at TBS for their enthusiasm for the series and wish to offer our heartfelt thanks to the cast and crew of My Name is Earl for their incredible work.”

Can you at the very least dig up who would have been Earl’s dad? I will miss the show. I hope someone picks up Nadine though; she is so funny!
Good riddance!
Earl ran out of stories a long time ago.
Sadly & even worse, it had become a sinecure for talentless fellow members of Jason Lee’s cult!
You are wrong; My Name is Earl was a fantastic show. What kind of bigot are you, anyway? Everyone has the right to their own beliefs, you jerk.
whatever – the show was boring
“Earl” wasn’t that great of a show.
Really? So why did you watch it? And if you didn’t watch it you have nothing to say. So pretty much, your comment is lame and is probably coming from one of those responsible for having it cancelled in order to “save face”. Ridiculous. My Name Is Earl was innovative and original, very funny and had several years left.
DAMMIT!!!!!!!!
Well, that kinda blows.
“Earl” wasn’t that great of show.
“Earl” wasn’t that great of show.
Yes it was. See the first part of my comment below.
well that really sucks since they ended the season with a “to be continued…” i hate when they do that to shows!
I am so f***ing pissed. This was one of my favorite comedies on TV. I loved Thursday nights on NBC because of Earl, The Office and 30 Rock. My Name is Earl was such a great show and I can’t believe NBC would cancel it. I had high hopes for another network to pick it up, but I guess it’s not to be. I am really going to miss these characters, especially Joy (Jaime Presley). She’s hilarious!
I think the 2008-2009 TV season, for me, will go down as the most disappointing in terms of wrongful cancellations. Earl, Pushing Daisies, The Unusuals, Samantha Who?, etc…sigh. I’m getting really sick of these networks canceling everything I love.
Earl was such a good show, so was Life. They got rid of two GOOD shows to put shows like Parks and Recreation, Listener, and Philantropist on. The last 2 have dump, meaningless plots. And the 1st is a recycled office. I’m done with NBC besides SNL, Conan, and Fallon.
Karma bites. There were more deserving shows to save.

That stinks. I really liked this show like a lot of other ones that were canceled this year.
Garrett – Beau Bridges played Earl and Randy’s father in quite a few episodes.
Now that this vile show is gone, we can concentrate on removing that equally vile One Termer from office.
Both your views on My Name is Earl and Obama are dead wrong. You don’t even back yourself up with valid reasons. Earl was a fantastic, original show in a world of crappy programming. This show was never vile, nor bigoted. It only promoted peace and acceptance for all, regardless of race, religion, sexuality, gender, etc. And it was funny. As for Obama, he isn’t perfect, but he is the best person for the job right now. I doubt he will be a one-termer, too. Also, how base can you be that your screenname is simply “Impeach Obama”?
