Scrubs boss Bill Lawrence said his cancellation-defying comedy would undergo an extreme makeover in its ninth season, and, man, he wasn’t kidding. Read the full post.

    My Name is Earl (one of the funniest shows EVER) is cancelled, but this show is STILL on the air?? ‘Who are the ad wizards who came up with that one??’

    I think this year’s season finale was a terrific ending…to JD’s story…but there’s no reason the show can’t go on. Come on, everyone! If you think of TV shows you love, how many shows could go on without its main character?
    Scrubs? Hell, yeah! Personally, I see no reason why the show couldn’t go on without Turk being the new JD, but that’s just me (maybe someday, when America puts a black man in the White House…I can dream, can’t I???).
    Aside from that pie-in-the-sky idea, I think Turk and Cox in a teaching situation (St. Elsewhere, anyone?) is a brilliant twist to keep this franchise alive! Let’s be real. Is Scrubs funnier than According To Jim? Surviving Suburbia? That awful craptacular Brad Garrett is limping across the coming season with? I can’t even remember the name!) Okay, then. Stop whining and enjoy that another season of nuScrubs is on the schedule this fall! Otherwise, ABC might turn that half-hour over to Jay Leno!!!

    I meant WITH Turk, not WITHOUT Turk.
    Let those of you who is still sober on a Friday night cast the first stone. ;-}

    Scrubs has been one of the best shows on T.V. The 8th season, however, was a great disappointment. It’s the current cast of characters that made the show great. Without them, the new “Scrubs” will be terrible. I won’t be watching it.

    It was fun while it lasted, but this season went downhill, and the premise for next season doesn’t even resemble the show “Scrubs” fans grew to know and love. The patient is on life support and fading fast. Pronounce ‘em and prepare the autopsy…

    If they get rid of janitor, it’s not Scrubs anymore.

    Wow, Bill Lawrence is a comedic writing genius. What a great concept for bringing back the show! I bet this is going to be off the wall hilarious. This past season was so special. I loved the passion for developing moral fortitude in the new doctors while also delivering insane amounts of creativity on the humor side of things. And a sitcom already loaded with wonderful charcters got better with each new addition. As long as the show can deliver that again, the setting should only amplify the fun. I hope this show pulls in the big audience numbers it deserves. Even if it doesn’t and ABC is forced to cancel it because of low ratings, I’m going to enjoy every single episode to its fullest and I won’t look to blame the network for its lack of viewers. Scrubs like M*A*S*H is an acquired taste. You either get into it or you don’t.

    This is basically a spin-off, then. Let’s give it a different name. If it’s a hit, great. But let Scrubs be Scrubs in case it’s not.

  • Carol Silva

    Wow! These are some big changes! But, I’m actually glad they’re making big changes, like Bill said if it’s just another voice-over in the same space, it’s going to be horrible.
    And, good to know that Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke and cia. will be doing guest appearances.
    I just don’t know how it will be seeing Turk without J.D., they are such a big part of one another xD

    This sounds a lot like what he did with Spin City and it didn’t do too great…not as great as before Michael J Fox left..but we’ll see

  • Andrew

    Even though the show is basically a spinoff, giving the show a different name wouldn’t work. ABC is keeping it alive because another season means another batch of episodes they can sell under the already existing syndication deal. There’s no immediate syndication money with a brand new series.

    I’m going to miss Sarah Chalke. There aren’t many hot women on TV who can do wide-eyed, silly slapstick…in German.
