TV Ratings: Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett continue to dominate with viewers

The week’s two iconic celebrity deaths continued to dominate a weekend television lineup otherwise filled with typical summer reruns and burnoffs. A repeat airing of May’s Farrah’s Story documentary, about Fawcett’s grueling battle with cancer, drew 4.7 million viewers to NBC on Friday — beating CBS’ usually solid lineup of crime-show repeats such as Ghost Whisperer (4.3 million) — while 20/20‘s hour of Michael Jackson coverage averaged 3.7 million. At 10 p.m., however, 6.6 million tuned into NBC’s Dateline dedicated to Jackson, winning the hour (and helping win the night) for the net. On Saturday, meanwhile, CBS’ murder-mystery Harper’s Island (3.5 million) continued to win the battle-of-the-canceled-shows against ABC’s Eli Stone (2.7 million) and NBC’s Kings (1.5 million)

Also to add that Farrah won the Thursday night 20/20 special with 8.3 million viewers. That shows she is still has millions of fan. I am sorry that Michael has passed away. I just hope the media will give Farrah another chance in the spotlight on tuesday, the day of her burial. Goodbye my Farrah. We all love you!

Michael Jackson gets 2 Tv guide covers??????
Farrah gets a tiny picture on the top right hand side????
If tv guide was smart they would give people a choice of a Farrah cover and a michael cover! I really hope other magazines realize the importance of Farrah and don’t underestimate her lasting appeal and the many fans who would buy farrah magazines. Michael jackson is over played and has been for way too many years for being bizarre and now for being a drug addict and poor Farrah who fought to live and left an important message gets forgotten. It’s wrong and all this will just cheapen michael’s legacy,he will never be another Elvis! They think he is but his reputation will not give it longevity and Im glad! Farrah rest in peace and I can only hope you get your due tributes you so greatly deserve

Farrah is still famous amongst the public…. but Michael Jackson is ONE and Only ONE … she just died on the day…. Greatest of greatest passed away…of course lime light has to be served to the millions of people’s favourite star.He was a star Every Where in the world… Bigger than Elvis Presely ..bigger than any other star ever.If u have a doubt, just see how many ppl in around the worl know Elvis and know Michael Jackson.MJ music brought nations together. He deserved this and alot more respect.

How sad that unrelated people feel the need to compare the importance of these two people at the time of their deaths.
Have some respect for their families and their loss.

I like Michael, and I like Farrah. I grew up with both of them, and admire them equally. All of the complaints about who’s getting what is becoming more and more petty. You act as though Michael himself is responsible for the excessive coverage of his passing? It’s ridiculous.

I am sure heaven will welcome all of them….michael, farrah, ed, don, and all the others that have passed in the last week…..they all will be missed….
