Exclusive: 'Old Christine' crushes on Eric McCormack

Eric-Mccormack-Dreyfus_l Will & Grace’s Eric McCormack is going back to his sitcom roots with a recurring gig on The New Adventures of Old Christine, sources confirm to me exclusively. The Emmy winner, whose low-rated TNT dramedy Trust Me was (thankfully) axed after just one season, will play a therapist and potential love interest for Julia Louis-Dreyfus. 

McCormack will start work on Old Christine after wrapping a guest stint on Law & Order: SVU. As I reported earlier this week, he’ll play a handsome sugar daddy in this season’s second episode.

    Ooooo! This is cool. I wonder how many episodes he’ll be in. Blair Underwood “joined the cast” in season 2 but only appeared in about 5 episodes over the course of the season.

    For variety, Eric Mc ought to use his other voice (the one he used on Lonesome Dove). It would surprise a lot of people who know him from Will & Grace.

    Renee–I liked ‘Trust Me’ too! I keep changing my mind about ‘Christine’–I like Eric and think he’ll do well there. I’ll keep watching.

    His roots are more along drama than comedy, and I thought he was pretty good in his guest shot on “Neon Rider” and the baddy in “Lonesome Dove: The Series/The Outlaw Years”–way before his time on NBC.

    I love Old Christine, although I haven’t watched anything McCormack’s been in Will & Grace, so this’ll be interesting.

    Old Christine has become my favorite sitcom- I’ll watch her Julia, Wanda and gang booze it up anytime!
    Will Wanda Sykes still be on the show when she has her own talk show?????
