Exclusive: Jennifer Garner returns to ABC!

Tags: News

Jennifer-Garner_l Holy Rambaldi artifact, Jennifer Garner is reteaming with ABC!

Ex-Alias superstar Jennifer Garner has inked a fresh development deal with her old network, sources confirm to me exclusively.

What are the specifics of the pact? And does it involve the words “Alias” and “movie”? Keep reading for all the deets…

ABC declined to comment, but I’m told the deal calls for the four-time Emmy nominee to develop projects via her Vandalia Films production shingle (that’s tradespeak for “office space on studio lot”). There are no plans for Garner to act in any of said projects (apologies for the shameless Alias tease earlier), but as one Alphabet insider says, “If Jennifer wants to make a guest appearance no one is going to stop her.”

The deal — coming three years after Garner ended her five-season run as Sydney Bristow on Alias — marks a big turning point for Garner’s fledgling production company, which so far has dabbled mostly in independent film.

Reaction? Surprised that ABC would make a (likely mega-bucks) deal with Garner that doesn’t include an acting component? Sound off below!

    Meh… I want Alias back for a better finale…

  • Adam

If she’s not acting, she’s directing? Producing? Writing? Does she have experience in any of those?
Seems like alot of money for that talent not to go on camera

I really miss seeing Jen kick ass on screen we needs her to get another Sydney Bristow kinda role!

Adam, agreed…how much of this deal is linked to hubby’s influence? Does he have any influence? just wondering…

For altogether selfish reasons, if she could guest star in any ABC show, I’d like it to be BROTHERS & SISTERS. And it’d have to be an episode where Tommy is in, for full effect. :)
Good for her, though, for getting a deal like this. If she wants to produce, terrific! She’s a great actress, but if she can do well in this capacity as well, all the best to her.

Garner hasn’t been successful in a film in years. She’s really, essentially a nobody with no draw. Odd decision.

I really want to see her in another series, maybe a comedy this time? She’s got the chops. Sadly, like SMG before her I think she is a TV star (a mega watt 10,000 volt TV star) trying way too hard to be a film star. Film isn’t better, it just has a bigger budget. And if you produce your own series Ms. Garner, you reap the syndication rewards. Just saying.

Ben Affleck has a lot of influence in Hollywood if she wasn’t married to him this deal would never have happened. Jennifer Garner needs to stop talking the talk about the all the TV and Movie development deals she has and start working on something.

LOVE HER. How about she grabs Lauren Graham, Keri Russell, and Kristen Bell and they do an ensemble dramedy the likes of which the world has never seen before?!

  • Michelle Collie

I think she’d make a great guest star on Grey’s. She’d be a good sister for Derek.

Ben Affleck has a lot of influence and connections in Hollywood this deal would never have happened is she was still married to Scott Foley. I know she’s been making movies since Alias ended but she’s just not a good actress, even in the The Kingdom I felt like I was Sydney Bristow, she’s kind of blah on the big screen no charisma and no range.

Apparently you didn’t see Juno, Maree. Or 13 Going On 30.

  • The1337

Why can’t they make an Alias movie?

Horrible false advertising, EW. Please don’t tell me you’re this desperate to get people to click on your articles.
