'True Blood' ratings: Still not sucking!

Viewers’ thirst for True Blood is intensifying: After taking a week off, the bloody good vampire saga’s latest episode on Sunday attracted a series-high 3.9 million viewers. The potent Blood helped lift Hung, which grew 29 percent from its debut with 3.6 million viewers, and Entourage, which kicked off its sixth season with 3.4 million viewers — its largest audience in more than two years.

Those numbers are none too shabby, especially for a pay cable show. Nice to see quality programming being rewarded with an actual audience!

The fact that the ratings continue to climb is almost unheard of in today’s TV climate. Are there any other shows doing the same? Burn Notice and Royal Pains on USA are posting excellent ratings, but are they gaining viewers every week?

Royal Pains is great summer fare – much like the light Southern Vampire Mysteries series by Charlaine Harris (the books True Blood is based on). Alan Ball is doing a great job at adding a lot of depth by developing many of the lesser characters in the books and twisting their stories around into new jaunts and weaving some back into the main storyline thugh events that were already there in the books. It’s an exciting show!

Great, HUNG which is beyind hideous is getting viewers but PUSHING DAISIES couldn’t. I am sure HUNG will be nominated for an EMMY as well next year. I mean it deserves to be, it’s on HBO.

I dont remember the last time a network having a great line-up like this on one night. Props to HBO!

I love both True Blood and Entourage. I actually just started watching Entourage this year. I watched all of the previous seasons over the past couple of months, so I am one of those new viewers for Entourage. I have watched True Blood since the 1st episode. I may need to check Hung out. It looks funny in the previous I see. HBO has always in my opinion delivered with good TV shows.

Thats a nice Sunday night line up that Im watching. True Blood has the same quirky tone as Twin Peaks back in the 80’s.

  • i liked pushing daisies a lot but man, you have to get over it and stop being so bitter. shows get cancelled every year and you should just enjoy the fact that you got 22 episodes out of a show that primetime network television was not ready for. it sucks that it was cancelled and it was better than most of the current shows on tv but it was cancelled a while ago. hung is a decent little show and has the potential to be even stronger the more it grows. don’t tear down something other people enjoy just to make yourself feel better about something that you like. also, true blood is a fantastic show. :)

wasnt commenting about TRUE BLOOD. I personally think HUNG is far from a decent little show and I am sure if it wasn’t not on HBO most critics would have ripped it apart. Hung is not well written, I can’t stand any of the characters, the premise is laughable.

You shouldn’t insult something just because you don’t like it and it’s not your cup of tea. It doesn’t matter what channel it is on, if it’s good people will watch it.
I don’t even watch hung, btw.

    Please something about Bones!
You could pursue if the kiss on the sides are still in the game or it was cut out…

I guess the power of boobies pervails over good acting and story…

There’s only one legitimate place I’ve found to watch it, the rest seem like scams :-/ You can see it over here though: http://jjpeg.com/watch28015.html
They make you do a little survey but after that it’s good to go :)
