Elizabeth Mitchell: Fans responsible for bringing Juliet back to 'Lost'

Were it not for the huge fan outcry in the wake of Juliet’s apparent demise on Lost, the beloved heroine would probably not be returning next season. At least that’s what Elizabeth Mitchell believes, as you can see in the following video interview from Comic-Con. Mitchell, accompanied by her newest co-stars from ABC’s V, also reveals what it was like joining V while still working on Lost, and why she thinks the reboot will be more Battlestar Galactica than, say, Knight Rider. Watch the complete interview after the jump. And to see more of my Comic-Con videos, and other interviews and panels, head over to our Con hub.

I really hope she comes back for more than one or two episodes! Juliet is my favorite character on Lost! It won’t be the same without her!

Juliet surprisingly came to represent the heart of the show, with her cold demeanor masking years of wounds from Ben and co. Whether being cool as a cucumber or breaking down after FINALLY successfully delivering a baby, Elizabeth Mitchell hit it out of the park, so much so that the dreaded and “predictable” pairing of her to Sawyer came off as one of the more successful relationships of the series, and a welcome story move for both the characters and their portrayers. I hope hope HOPE she’ll be finding closure, and a happy one at that, next season. Juliet’s one of the handful of characters that I’d really like to see have a happy ending.

Fantastic – I’m so glad she’s coming back!

if they honestly brought her back due to fan response I say the writers credibility is shot to hell..especially after their no more sewing kits speech before season five, what a crock no show they do after this will hold water for fans aware they talk out of their ass

To be honest I’m not that not syked about her return, I don’t understand all the hype. Juliet was nice and all and portrayed by a great actress. But she wasn’t integral like the actually plane survivors or Ben. I’m MUCH more interested and excited in seeing the return of the original lostaways – Claire, Charlie et al.

Either Elizabeth Mitchell needs to get over herself or this is the sloppiest publicity stunt ever. The writers have one more oh-so-short season to wrap up an incredible amount of stuff in some way that is reasonably satisfying (and all of last season seemed very directed, in that way.) If they are now casually pulling character resurrections out of their, um, hats, it could only lead to chaotic mess of the first order. But most of all – what, they were surprised fans were sorry to see a major character die? Um, no. No, they weren’t.

what credibility are you talking about? They are writers for a fictional show!
They have said they know where they wanted to start and end…not that they had every detail of every episode planned out.
Stop being internet haters….or even better just stop watching the show so we don’t have to read your idiot opinions anymore.
Yay! More Juliet! IF V does not get picked up for a whole season I hope they bring her back more.

I have never seen the facination in her…She’s not a good actress AT ALL and by far not attractive.

      she’s gorgeous.

I love Juliet and it would be nice if she were on the show all season. What I expect to happen is that after everything on the island is resolved, Sawyer goes to Florida to find Juliet. She is living her alternate life and doesn’t know him, but they connect (deja vu) and live happily ever after.

  • Adam

She’s a great actress, and it’s great to see familiar faces back on the show during its last season.

Ugh….I was thrilled that Juliet died. Elizabeth is pretty and that is about it. I could not stand her whiny, monotone performance and her one-note “quivering” acting, meant to convey whatever emotion she was attempting to convey. And that chemistry-less relationship with James was a real low point for writers who always clear the bar no matter how high it is. Sawyer deserves better than a cliche-ridden, rebound relationship. Hopefully Juliet will appear as some sort of spirit guide for himj, telling him to get on with his life and forget about her, because I know that is what he should do and what I sure want to do at this news. Leave that broad down at the bottom of the Swan where she deserves to be.
