Looks like love is in the air for Toni Collette’s male alter on United States of Tara.
Sources confirm to me exclusively that Joey Lauren Adams (Chasing Amy) is joining the Showtime comedy’s season 2 cast as Pammy, a funny and warm barmaid who has a history of picking the wrong guys. Her luck changes the day she meets “Buck” and falls head over heels in love.
Adams is on board for at least three episodes. Tara‘s 12-episode second season debuts in early 2010.
Well.. that’ll make for an interesting season, for sure. Not that it wouldn’t be already.

I used to get her and Jennifer Tilly confused ALL the time! They have the same voice. I can’t wait for the new season!

I LOVE United States of Tara (and sort of wish the next season would come much sooner) and honestly, I think the idea of a woman falling madly in love with Buck is not only hilarious but very smart. All the same, I don’t think Joey Lauren Adams is exactly the right person to cast in that role. She’s cute and exactly the type of woman I can see Buck choosing, but it’s not realistic /she/ would pick /him/. And her voice is such a turn-off.
I hope she can deliver.

And as for Joey Lauren Adams herself, of course she can deliver. She’s proven she’s a good actress, in my opinion.

This news is so awesome. Buck is definetely my favorite. Should make for a very funny story line.
