'Grey's' scoop: Chandra Wilson crossing over to 'Private Practice'

Tags:

wilson-diggs_lHere’s the big takeaway from today’s Private Practice set visit at press tour (as per several eyewitnesses): Exec producer Shonda Rhimes announced that Chandra Wilson’s pulling double duty!

The Grey’s Anatomy Emmy nominee will cross over to sister show Private Practice early into season 6 (episode 3, specifically) when Bailey visits Oceanside Wellness. I’m told the crackling chemistry between Bailey and Sam (Taye Diggs) that was on display during previous crossovers will once again get some play during this latest visit.

Rhimes is keeping Wilson very busy this season. As I previously announced, Wilson will step behind the cameras later this fall and direct her first episode of Grey’s Anatomy. Sounds like someone’s going to be putting in quite a few 17-hour days. What do you want to bet she doesn’t complain about a single one of ‘em? I’m in for $100.

    Go Bailey! Kick butt!! :)

  • Corinne

I’ll skip the last sentence and just comment on what’s actually important.

That’s great for CW. I wish her the best. She’s great in front of the camera, I’m sure she’ll do well behind it also.

Doing a Grey’s crossover with Private Practice once didn’t draw me into watching Private Practice, and doing another one isn’t going to, either.

  • J

Yay! I am excited to see Bailey on PrP.

  • Christine

Seriously, who cares. I never watched the awful spin off and after least season I am done with Grey’s.

The more Chandra, the better—she’s brilliant in front of the camera and I’m looking forward to seeing her directorial debut for Grey’s this season as well. I’ve never taken to PP as much as the mother show, but for Chandra and the always missed Kate Walsh on the same screen again, I’m there for at least an episode this season.

What I’m also looking forward to, however, is the day that the entertainment media/press stop adding to the apparently en vogue feeding frenzy on Katherine Heigl. Wouldn’t have been a thing at all if anyone else had said what you allude to there at the end. To this fan of her work and that she doesn’t censor no matter how the media spins her words/humor, the digs on her are really getting old.

  • Huh

Um….Wilson has mentioned the LONGGGGGGGGG days in her own interviews long before Heigl ever did, and not in a joking manner either.

Who cares about this show? The big news is American Idol! Take the poll here:

Who cares about American Idol. Its a popularity contest. Talent doesnt matter..look at who has wond the last 4 years, they are nobodys.

Good for her. U kno I used to be a huge fan. Of urs. I will always be a fan of greys. Not that I won’t be now but no need to diss katherine heigl. Ur all I bet she won’t (chandra) complain about a 17 hour day and making cheap shots without naming names but we know who ur talking about. So what if K.H. Said she’s tired from 17 hour days. Lay off. As an avid 24 fan I but jack Bauer would even get tired of em. So u suck for that comment dude. That girl brings her A game and sorry if you don’t appreciate it but some of us do and our glad she’s here to stay. Maybe if miss heigl had some director shifts on the side she would be complaining. I order an apology or I’m strictly watch with kristen on E! Fo real.

    • gabilu

An apology for mentioning how KH bithces about her 17 hour work days.. That’s just ridiculous!
How many people have to work 17 hours a day and don’t even make in 3 years what she makes for 1 episode! Give me a break.

    • dutchie

You ‘order’ an apology?! WTF I you don’t like this blog, don’t read it.
And learn to use capital letters and proper punctuation, cause if you write like an 8 year old girl no one will ever be impressed by your pathetic ‘threats’. Seriously.

Aaaanyway… Chandra Wilson is awesome, I’m not a big fan of Private Practice, but if she’s happy, I’m happy.

    • Teresa

You fail to realize that at least half of her “17 hour day” is spent on downtime while others are filming. Gee I wish I could get paid what she does to sit around all day and then complain about it.

  • Matt

Bailey and Addison on the same show again with Sam in the mix. Brilliant !

No need to watch Greys either :)

  • sarah

Give me a break! I’m sick and tired of Addison and Izzie’s Anatomy. I’m sure she will put her on Greys when Pompeo will leave for her pregnancy break. If Pratice is horrid, please, ABC must delete it. Another Addek episode and I will VOMIT!

  • Kelly

Bailey finally joins the adults in LA. At last.

  • tesera

Please no, no more of her, I’m so tired of this character who shouts at everyone and thinks she knows it all. It’s been the same for 5 years.
