'Big Brother' executive producer address Jessie's roughhousing with Lydia, Natalie

Tagged:

Has Jessie’s roughhousing with Lydia and Natalie gone too far on Big Brother 11? That’s what some fans think after watching the late-night feeds. Viewers have peppered BB message boards (including those on EW.com) with complaints that Jessie crossed a line during recent wrestling matches with the two young women, especially since a medic was called to check up on the diminutive Natalie. Executive Producer Allison Grodner told EW exclusively that while she takes the safety of the houseguests seriously, Jessie and the women “engage in (the roughhousing) consensually” and any action he made toward the woman “was not intentionally malicious or abusive.”

“We’re monitoring it,” said Grodner. “We’ve talked to Natalie and Lydia and Jessie about it in the diary room. We’re not looking to hide anything. Everyone who needed to be warned has been warned.”

Grodner confirmed that a medic looked at Natalie after Jessie pushed her in the leg.  He did so, Grodner explained, after Natalie kicked him in the groin.  “He’s a bigger guy,” says Grodner. “She was like, ‘ow!’  But she never came into the diary room asking for help. Safety is our utmost concern, so we wanted to make sure nothing was wrong so we called her into the diary room. She said it was nothing but we let the medic look at it. We have a medic here 24/7.”

Though Natalie is constantly by Jessie’s side – Grodner calls them Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo – the strangest dynamic occurs between him and Lydia. “It’s this emotional push me, pull you,” concedes Grodner. “It’s wrestling with sexual overtones. People who subscribe to the video streams know they’ve covered many bases with each other. She’s drawn to him yet she pushes him away so he pushes her away. It’s this odd kind of high school relationship. No one is really saying what they are feeling.”

jesse needs to go! he and his partner, ratalie ruin the integrity of what once was a good game and enjoyable to watch!

    • NEWYORK

Integrity??? The game is ABOUT lying and deceiving. Those two losers are upholding the integrity of the game by doing all the shady stuff they do.

    • Paul Chicago

The top commenter cannot be serious. Integrity?!?!? Now that is a joke. BB is fun to watch, but it is one of the trashiest shows on TV, complete with producer manipulation during the show that changes the outcome of competitions and the overall game.

  • Kelly

    Jessie is ruining BB11.

  • Jimmy

The only people in this house who don’t need serious psychological help are Jeff, Kevin and Jordan. The combination of ill people this season has made viewing difficult to watch, especially the live feeds. How some of these people passed psy tests to get on the show is beyond the grasp of many viewers. CBS hopefully has learned a lesson and all we can do is keep our fingers crossed that someone doesn’t get hurt physically or mentally.

    • Christina

So true. Jeff, Kevin, and Jordan are the only ones with level heads on their shoulders. Its highly questionable how Lydia passed the Psych test cause there is some serious emotional issues going on there. And some of the others, woah!

    • Karen

Jordan is an utter idiot and I hope she goes home soon. She is so annoying.

      • Kevin Culling

Jordan is much more intelligent than people think. Yes, she is naive, but that does not make her dumb. In fact I would consider her to be a more thoughtful and sensitive person (by far!) than Jessie.

      • Bennett

I don’t want to defend Jordan’s intelligence (cause I don’t have a strong argument), but she is so much more pleasant to watch than Natalie and Chima. I love that she is young and positive, and she seems to have been raised well.

      • Cookie

Amen.I don’t see anything attractive about stupidity.Jeff would go further without that milstone around his neck.

      • Felipe

If Jordan was raised well why is she so dumb. Just because the other girls aren’t white doesn’t mean they weren’t raised well.

      • snhawk

Maybe just a little jealous are you?

      • AZKay

It’s possible that Jordan has a learning disability and doesn’t have a lot of “world experience,” but she’s very kind and pleasant. She’s one of the BIGGER assets appearing on Big Brother in many seasons.

      • sonny

Jordan is one of the only girls on the show that seems to have a great personality, and a few good looks to boot. I’d take her over anyone else in the house Thank goodness Ronnie is gone… back to his make pretend, fictional WIFE. RIGHT, as if anyone would marry him, maybe in his dreams.

  • olwen

Jesse is going to cause Lydia to hurt herself, u had best beware and watch her close. Not to mention he is a bully and not a very nice person at all. i wasnt going to watch this year at all when i saw him coming back on the show, but I JUST LOVE JEFF AND JORDON

    • Jeff R.

Who cares about a stupid showmance? Go watch the Bachelor if you only care about people hooking up.

  • Dustin

    RE: Kelly

Couldn’t be any truer. He ruined the entire season for me the moment he entered that house. Shame on you you BB11 producers.

    • Susan

I wasn’t happy they brought him back. He was insufferable last season. It will be fun watching him get evicted very soon.

      • AZKay

I agree. In his his post-eviction interviews he has complained that “the cards were changed after they were already dealt.” He thinks it’s unfair that gameplay was adjusted after he was entrenched. He didn’t seem to mind joining the show after everyone had been chosen. That was also another deck of cards. Im using the cards analogy because that’s what he used.

  • sonny casale

How True, jessie was given a big time head start. obviously, athletes are favored to win any physical head of household challenges, so cosequently, he entered the house as hoh, on the first show. I was tempted not to watch, as he was a loser from BB 10, and I’m not talking just about the game. That emotion was seconded by Ronnie the rat. It was difficult to watch someone with so many issues. I would say it made me want to shower after watching the program that centered on him, which was most of the episodes. Thankfully he is gone. Does he really think that America would believe that he is married? Maybe in his dreams, but he should follow Kevin’s lead, and just come out of the closet. Luckily, the game is back to being interesting, only because America is smart enough to have voted Jeff, the coup d’etat. BB 11 producers saved the integrity of the show with the banishment of the 4 teams, as well as the coup d’etat pass. At least now the playing field is level. if jeff is as smart as i think he is, jessie will be up against one of his close allies, perhaps Natalie, for eviction next Thursday. go Jordan and Jeff, two of the nicest players left in the game.

    • George

Hopefully Jeff is not too stupid to use the special power. His head is not in the game at all. He is just a wannabe actor the producers recruited, he never watched BB before.

  • Sandy

I don’t know if Kevin is all that there, after he went ballistic on Ronnie, I didn’t know that weirdo had it in him. I’d put him on the wacko list too.

    • Perry

This comment makes no sense. Kevin is one of the sanest people in there.

      • Spungo

Kevin went ballistic on Ronnie. He even chest-bumped him.

The guy is a drama queen and a kook.

  • bhm1304

Jesse is off his steroid cycle so he likes slapping around small women. Why BB ever allowed that misogynistic little prick to come back is beyond me. This is the worst cycle ever for this show.

  • Trazey

ugh i think someone should stop Lydia from whoring herself out any longer – hand jobs to the vile jessie?? ugh

    • Kathy

She’s done A LOT worse than that for him – which absolutely sickens me to think about. Ugghhh

      • hugofan

What do you mean she’s done more than that for Jessie…she didn’t use her mouth down there on him did she?

  • Ian

I totally disagree with the sentiments being written on this board. I’m glad that Jessie is around, I don’t necessarily like him, but you need that to make the show interesting… a good villain if you would. As for Ronnie, as much as I couldn’t stand him, I was glad that he was on (even more glad to see him voted off) because he added a different dynamic to the show. No matter who you get to be on this show someone will fall into the category of “rat” or “jerk”, it’s just human nature. Not everyone can be nice all of the time, everyone has their downfalls, and THAT is what makes the show interesting.
All that being said… I’m rooting for Jeff and Michelle.

    • Bradley II

At least Jessie and crew are playing the game. Jeff and Jordan are useless and need to leave so the real players can duke it out.

  • JT

I have a crush on Michele and I wish nothing but ill will against that lying backstabbing hypocrite Ronnie. So glad he was ousted before the jury house.

    • Kristen

      I LOVE MICHELLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Cheri

Michele has not derserved any of the treatment she received last week, especially from that total loser Ronnie. Ronnie can eat a bag of d i c k s.

    • Kelly

Yeah, I like her too… I would love to see her nude.

  • Kathy

It is the best case scenario possible this week with Jeff having the “wizard” power. No matter who Chima puts up, Jeff will override her & put Jesse & his Pit Bull Natalie up – let’s just hope neither of them wins POV

    • just me

The power is used AFTER the POV just before voting…so even the POV wouldn’t save them

    • Trish

Yes, it is used AFTER the veto competition. It’s the best thing ever for Jeff and us viewers! I got tired of the one way it was going, Jesse and his posse, especially his sidekick Natalie controlling the house. Sometimes good versus Evil can win. Atleast it will this week. I hope Jeff puts up Jesse and Natalie, and Jesse going, and Natalie will be on her own, yeah, ms Judo or whatever you say you do, lets see how you do then!

      • Bradley II

No one in BB is “good” or “evil.” Everyone has their favorites but it doesn’t mean any player deserves to win more than another. Luck plays a huge role, as does producer hijinks.

      • Tanya

The power is used after the veto (just before the live vote), so only the head of household and veto holder are truly safe.

  • DG

The “high school” comment says it all.Why do they have to always stock the house with immature kids?I know the demographic element is there but really, can’t they find people that are stable and act mature? The screaming matches don’t make the show better,it’s a waste of air time. And Jessie must have roid brain damage. It’s time for a season with more than one token old guy.

    • boyo

the screaming matches are the best thing about this piece of junk show.

  • Betty Miller

Ronnie is indeed a rat!!! Jessie needs to get over himself. He is always looking at the camera. I also like Jeff and Jordan. Not sure about Michelle yet.

  • Ann

Jessie and the women “engage in (the roughhousing) consensually” and any action he made toward the woman “was not intentionally malicious or abusive.”
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++
If you watch the tapes from the live feeds on Sunday night, you will see from the look on Jessie’s face, and the tension in the muscles in Jessie’s leg that he was not playing around. You will also see that Lydia looks scared. Lydia won’t complain because she doesn’t want Jessie to be mad at her (abused women often react this way) AND she has been told that if she complains SHE will have to leave the show, not Jessie.
