Press Tour Diary: ABC's 'V' reboot

Tags: , News

cast-v_lWHO: Elizabeth Mitchell, Morris Chestnut, Joel Gretsch, Lourdes Benedicto, Morena Baccarin, Scott Wolf, and exec producers Scott Peters and Jeffrey Bell.
PREMISE: The rodent-eating lizards are back! Slick production. Great cast. Not scary enough. (Watch the trailer) The last session of press tour!

5:21 pm: Mitchell confirms for the umpteenth time that she will be returning to Lost. “I am going to be traveling to Hawaii for Lost more than once,” she says. “I can’t say whether Juliet is alive or dead, but as with all things on Lost, it will be tricky.”

5:31 pm: Wolf’s dimples remain a force of nature.

5:32 pm: Scoop! V will premiere on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 8 pm/ET.

5:34 pm: Iconic scenes from the original V—like alien queen Diana devouring the hamster—will be replicated in some form. ”We would be morons if we didn’t find a way to pay homage [to the original],” says Bell. “But if we had her do exactly what was done in the original, been there done that.”

5:36 pm: Paging Jane Badler… E.P. Peters says some of the original V actors will definitely be making cameos on the reboot as a “tip of the hat” to old fans.

That’s a wrap, folks! Heading off to the ABC cocktail reception to get scoop for next week’s Ask Ausiello. I survived another press tour! Yay me!

No “Whatchoo talkin’ about Willis?” moments this year?

  • Amy Griffis

I liked the original and am looking forward to the reboot. I am a fan of Sci-Fi done good.
I hope this falls into this catagory.

  • Dee

Diana is a dbag for eating a rat whole. Even dbagtoday.com agrees.

I saw the V pilot at Comic-Con and it was awesome! I saw the original series and didn’t know why they bothered with a redux, but after seeing the pilot, I’ll be watching!

  • Briana

    Elizabeth Mitchell. ‘Nuff said.

  • Kirk

I’m itching for V to fail so Mitchell can return to Lost full time. However, that’s not very fair to EM though it is? I’m not going to be watching Lost or V since the producers have indeed screwed around with the fans a little too much. I’m no longer looking forward to either.

    • Teresa

If you are not going to be watching either why do you care which show or both Elizabeth Mitchell is on. Me thinks you are going to really watch BOTH! LOL!

    • Benjamin Linus

Newsflash: this is the last season of Lost. Having her fail on V when Lost will be done in 2010 is idiotic.

    • ashlee

Kirk, give both a chance. You will not be sorry. Particularly, where the masterful EM is involved.

  • Christine

    That’s it? That sucks.

  • PSac

I saw the title that Ausiello talks “V”, and I thought it was a reference to vampire blood…

  • Elizabeth

It was a guinea pig, not a hamster, that Diana swallowed whole. I’ve never seen Lost so I know nothing of Elizabeth Mitchell, but I hope she’s good in this. Joel Gretsch looks hot in a clerical collar.

    • Two points for Elizabeth

Wow, great job! You can go to bed feeling accomplished!

  • Paulo

All i care about is Juliet. Bring her back!

  • Benjamin Linus

I was a fan of V(1983) I will give V(2009) a chance. I hope it turns out like Battlestar Galactica. A reboot done right.

  • Mike J

I was a gigantic fan of the original. I read the books, got the toys, etc. This version seems way to literal. In the trailer it spells out a thousand times what the original only alluded to, but I’ll still be watching. I agree. Where’s Jane Badler?

  • ashlee

I watched and loved the original USA version of V. I always wondered what happened to all the actors since other than Singer and Ironside I never saw any of the other actors featured anywhere. It will be very interesting to see where they are now.
