Press Tour Diary: ABC's 'Eastwick'

Tags: News

cast-eastwick_lWHO: Jaime Ray Newman, Lindsay Price, Rebecca Romijn, Sara Rue, Paul Gross, and exec producer Maggie Friedman.
PREMISE: Lipstick Jungle meets Desperate Housewives set in Stars Hollow. Oh, and they’re witches.

4:44 pm/PST: It’s literally set in Stars Hollow: Eastwick is using the same town square set as Gilmore Girls.

4:45 pm: Holy gams! Ninety percent of the panel is comprised of Romijn and Price’s legs.

4:49 pm: Eastwick is very different than the 1987 movie Witches of Eastwick. Except the title is essentially the same. And both feature Veronica Cartwright. And both are about magic. And…

4:50 pm: Friedman concedes that the series “will have winks to both the book and the movie.”

4:53 pm: Sara Rue’s sidekick character may exhibit “certain powers in the future.”

4:56 pm: E.P. Friedman just broke month-old news!  Cybill Shepherd will appear in “multiple episodes.”

5:01 pm: Romijn gives good quote: “It’s nice to play a woman again after trannies and mutants.”

5:02 pm: Price says her Eastwick alter ego is “more like me than any character I’ve ever played. She’s a nerd, she’s awkward. I adore every cell of her.”

Coming up next: The V panel.

Forget Rebecca Romijn-I want to hear about Paul Gross! And so should you-he’s hugely talented and we’ve loved him in Canada for years.

  • Shayla

Stars Hollow? Then I want at least one guest character appearance – it’s not really SH if there’s no Kirk or Taylor lurking about. Or hey even better – a troubadour appearance or two.

  • ugh

god, for someone who claims to have trans women as friends, rebecca romijn is more assy that classy. what a heinous thing to say. so disappointing.

    • Tarc

And what is so wrong with being happy to play a different role than she has been? She didn’t denigrate mutants or trannys – she just said that he was glad to be playing a (regular) woman.

  • Meg

I wish the Gilmore Girls were using the Gilmore Girls set…

  • znachki

Yep – second that. I don’t care about the legs. I want more about Paul Gross! It’s not just the Canadians that love him. I’ve been a fan since “Due South”.

  • Kevin

I’ll be watching for Sara Rue…I love her.

  • Katie

I’m another Paul Gross fan! He’s why I’m going to check out Eastick. Loved him on Slings & Arrows.

I love VERONICA CARTWRIGHT. I wonder if people remember her from her role in “THE BIRDS”. She was the little sister who loved Lovebirds;and who can forget her in her numerous “TWILIGHT ZONE” episodes playing some little girl role, or maybe you recognize her from being the other female in “ALIEN”. Whatever her role may be, she is the best. Kudos to LINDSAY PRICE for scoring yet another TV show. I credit her for being the only Asian love interest on “ALL MY CHILDREN” back in the day. I’m tired of REBECCA ROMIJN already.

  • Christine

It’s Horrid they are using the same town square as GG. Its sacrilege!!

    • Kim

Hate to tell you this but a lot of shows/movies use it, they just change the appearance. It’s a permanent set on the WB lot, it’s been there forever.

I’ve seen the set dressed for Eastwick – looks good. They removed the Gazebo and replaced it with the fountain in the picture.

I saw the preview on ABC. It looks something like Charmed in Stars Hollow. I think it will be fun to watch… And yes, I’ll be waiting for Lorelai to appear suddenly from somewhere…

  • SeeleyKaye

Without Paul Gross, there is no reason for me to watch. He’ll be an excellent devil!

  • Tego Livi

How has Lindsey Price not gotten a rep as a show-killer yet. I’m not blaming her, but I’m surprised more people aren’t. She’s been on so many failed shows.

Funny that they had to wait for Updike to die to spool out this tremendous waste of time. ABC, still competing with NBC for biggest waste of a television dial.

  • Craig

I miss Stars Hollow and will probably checkout the pilot just to see what they did to the old town, BTW does anyone know where Ghost Whisperer has moved to now? Back to Universal?
