Armchair Casting Director: 'Gossip Girl'

Spotted: Thousands of unemployed actresses who look like Jessica Szohr (only 20 years older) racing to the Gossip Girl casting offices. Why? They’re introducing Vanessa’s mom! The deets…

Gabriela Abrams: An African-American female in her early 40s. She’s Vanessa’s attractive, warm, outgoing mother. Recurring potential.

    vanessa marcil!

    • Tea

      It says African American idiot.

      • Bingo

ROFL. That comment made me clap instantaneously. Too funny, props to Tea.

      • Gwen

No, it doesn’t say they’re casting an “African American idiot.” You need to learn how to use commas, until you meant to come across as a racist.

Ausiello, I want to know anything about Jenny on Gossip Girl this season 3, which is not connected to combat mean girls, this season she will finally have a love interest?

    Kisses!!!!!

    • Susan

The show doesn’t care about Jenny dude. That’s why she gets no storyline and completely obliterated her relationship with Nate (friendship too). It’s tough being a Jenny fan. *SIGH*

Anika Noni Rose is a liitttle young, but she would make an excellent Szohr Sr.

  • sam

Or, in a piece of genius casting, Michelle Obama.

  • ck

    Halle Berry :)

  • Meg

    Jwaundace Candece!

  • Alicia

Clearly, the role George Dzundza was born to play.

  • Jenn

Elise Neal! Or Holly Robinson Peete :)

  • Sofie

    Aisha Tyler!

  • Steven

Sofie, Aisha Tyler would be amazing! I love her. Or maybe Lisa Gay Hamilton, but she might be a bit too old.

  • robinepowell

Well they’ll probably cast some unknown actress, give her a chance to shine in the spotlight.

They’ve already cast Hilary Duff and Tyra Banks as the big names.

  • Charles U. Farley

    Marsha Thompson

  • Franko

Elise Neal. Aisha Tyler, hmmmm…She’s too young to play a mother of a 18 year old Vanessa, don’t you think?

  • Yogurt

Jessica Szohr already looks like herself but 20 years older. She’s kind of a beast compared to the rest of the cast. It’s an insult to the audience whenever one of the guys shows interest in her. Sorry…them the facts. She ain’t pretty.

    • Ashlee

Bet she looks better than you.

    • Mary Q. Contrary

I don’t know if I would necessarily call her a beast, but she definitely looks way old for her age. It’s kind of a travesty. She reminds me of Fergie in that way. Heeeeyyyy. Maybe they could say her dad is African American instead, and Fergie could play her mom. Lord knows she could play 40 and upwards with ease.

  • Hannah

    How bout Lisa Bonet?

    • Jess

      that i could actually see.

      • RJ

        I can see that too.

    • Mel

      She’d be great!

    • AngieLam18

Good call, that would be perfect!

    • Rishi

Lisa was going to be my suggestion also.
