Ratings: 'Big Brother,' 'Shark Tank' top a snoozy Sunday

Summer blahs continued in primetime network television as Big Brother 11 and There Goes the Neighborhood helped CBS win Sunday, and ABC’s Shark Tank came out on top in its hour despite ho-hum ratings numbers. Scripted drama continued to tank, meanwhile, as ABC’s Defying Gravity lost more than half of Shark‘s lead-in.

    What about Mad Men?

I thought the same thing, but these are just the network channels. Mad Men’s on AMC so it’s not included in this ranking (I assume..).

Why is no one watching Defying Gravity? It is truly fantastic. I suppose I would have missed it, too, if I didn’t happen to catch the end of a short commercial while watching something else on ABC.

what happened to Merlin at 8:00 – wish they’d promote that show more, it is an EXCELLENT family show!!

Shark Tank is nothing like Dragons’ Den!!!

It’s sad that all of the “Sharks” are average to say the least. If only one of them had real talent in business and a geninue personality, we all could admire them a little. Instead each character is very fortunate and vulgar misers that over hype their success and destory people’s dreams for the seek of the cameras. Just imagine if Donald Trump, Warren Buffet or at least one high-profile celebrity was on the show, it would be 100 times better. The worst part is a couple sharks can’t even claim to represent American interest since they are Canadian residences from the original show. For instance, Kevin O’leary and his “unamerican” talk is so devise and is what feeds into the hateful climate we see today. The idea that people can only be of value or American, if they cater to the rich and special interests of the world. If it was up to them, we all will be poor and have to beg for food.

Just watch as the ratings for Big Brother 11 plummet after the most popular player ever, Jeff, is wrongly evicted on Thursday. ‘Good TV’ has apparently become a synonym for lie, cheat, steal, and have a hissyfit! Good TV should be when the hero wins (Jeff) and the bad guy gets what’s coming to him (or Gnatalie gets evicted, instead). Tonight, on Showtime’s Big Brother After Dark, I watched as Gnat waved and swigged her beer yelling that she’s 18, I’m 18! Jeff questioned outloud “what planet am I on where a 31-year-old can’t drink but an 18-year-old can? I wondered what message Big Brother is trying to send. (Most viewers know that GnataLIE has been deceiving the houseguests all season by claiming that she’s an innocent 18 year old who only graduated high school two months prior to the show’s start, when in reality, she’s 24.)** She’s also a thief, having stolen another player’s competition gloves. There is nothing honest or upright about her but she is absolutely without shame, eats like a cow, walks, talks, and dresses like a 12 year old boy, and defies production time and time again by discussing taboo subjects. I expect the ‘Big Brother has Jumped The Shark’ articles to start popping up within the next two weeks. What a time for Allison Grodner Productions to have planned a two-hour finale for this year. It’s altogether possible that Grodner doesn’t much care of Big Brother has come to an end because of the recent Sony deal she signed, mainly to develop new projects (is my understanding). The extended finale may be the final time that 90% of the hardcore viewers, fans, and even the live-feeds subscribers EVER tune in..and only then to finally see GNAT have to account for her shit. It’s a shame but it was bound to happen..like any other good idea, Big Brother has run its course and sadly tarnished its legacy, sickened its fans and left itself NO place to go but away.

**Grodner coyly answered the question about Gnat’s drinking on the show while insisting to anyone anytime that she’s 18 this way: (I paraphrase) ‘We cannot support her lie so if one of the houseguests comes in the diary room and asks why we are allowing an 18-year-old to drink, we’d say that nothing illegal is being allowed to happen.’ Oh ok..thanks, way to clear up that situation.
