Armchair Casting Director: 'Lost'

THIS JUST IN: Lost found its Lennon!

The first official piece of new casting for Lost‘s sixth and final season has arrived — and it’s surprisingly detailed.  Team Darlton is looking for an actor in his mid 30s to late 50s to play…

Lennon: Scruffy, edgy, charismatic, and slightly stir-crazy, Lennon can be deferential when it’s called for. He’s the spokesperson/translator for the president of a foreign corporation. He’s a wily negotiator, and far more powerful than his lowly position would seem to indicate. Recurring.

Got casting tips? Theories as to how he fits into the puzzle that is Lost? Post ‘em below!

Hmm…someone who works for Sun’s Dad?

  • Aaron

Yeah, doubt it’s a spoiler that his name is Lennon, seeing as Darlton ALWAYS give fake names for casting calls.

  • Jon

Michael Weston has already played this character to a tee on House and Burn Notice, why not LOST.

    • Nick

      Yes! This gets my vote.

      • stef

isn’t it funny that Michael Weston guest starred on Burn Notice (one of my super favorites!!) and the main characters name is – Michael Weston!!??

  • Mark

    Michael.

These are not casting scoops. These are character developments. A casting scoop would be telling us WHO HAS BEEN CAST. You’re misleading people with your tweets, but I doubt you care. I realize I’m only one reader out of thousands, but I’ve decided to become one less reader because I’m tired of your misleading “scoops.”

    • Aaron

You’re not the only one, Mark.

      • Josh

        Definitely not.

      • bigbbubba

Get a life. All Three of you.

    • jigga

Whoa, chill out. I find this information nice and welcoming. It’s better than nothing.

    • Sara

I wasn’t aware there was a dictionary definition of the term “casting scoop”. Seems like a casting scoop to me. They are casting someone new… you didn’t know about it… now you do. Casting Scoop. People need to learn to take a breath sometimes. Life is much easier when you don’t let idiotic things get to you.

        good riddance haters

    • Ryan

      Impression time – “waaaah waaaaaah!!”

    • XSE Drake

Agreed. Furthermore, he’s using copyrighted material from Breakdown Services which he has obtained illegally, and he really ought to be either fired, sued or both.

You’re writing for a magazine about the entertainment industry, and you’re pissing off a lot of people who make up that industry.

  • Heather

Jeremy Davies! I kid I kid.

  • Jason

    Steve Buscemi

  • Vetinari

    Damien Lewis.

    • Gary

Damien Lewis was at the top of my mind too! or Jason O’Mara from Life on Mars… Lennie James from Jericho fame.

      • steve

omg. over the past two years or so, becoming a huge fan of life and being introduced to the band of bro’s series, damien has become one of my favorite actors. If he was cast in lost i would absoulutly lose it.

    • Sammy040

Great Suggestion ! Loved him in “Band Of Brothers!”

  • Heidi

what about Peirce Brosnan? I know he typically does movies but come on this is Lost. I think he’d do it!
If you’re looking younger, for some reason a scruffy David Chokachi comes to mind…

    • Mary Q. Contrary

are you serious? david chokachi? as in ‘baywatch’ david chokachi? on lost? bahahahahahahahahaha. get your noggin checked.

      • Heidi

Honestly I saw him on a reality show where he was looking to get back into acting and he was one hot looking 40 something, a little rougher around the edges but his acting chops were surprisingly good. I’m not crazy! Sometimes the pretty boy in their 20s can turn out to be a damn fine looking and acting 40 something!

I also thought about Christopher Knight (is that his name from the Blue Lagoon?) He was on the same show as David and he took a long break from acting to be a single dad. Now that his daughter is in college he’s getting back in and the casting directors loved him too.
I’m thinking blonde because I have a feeling Lennon could be the founder of Hanso and I keep thinking Swedish, Norse, Icelandic when I hear the name Hanso. Don’t know why.

That said I LOVE LOVE LOVE Damian Lewis and miss him from Life (which should never have been cancelled) so I would adore seeing him on LOST or on ANY show for that matter. If it is just a recurring character though I’m thinking he might not want the part. They may want someone who would be recognizeable to us but not a leading role actor (which is why I’m looking at people who are older wiser and looking to get back into the industry)

  • Becca

Scruffy, edgy, a bit crazy? Michael Shanks would play this baeutfiully I think,if he’s available.

    • Sen

Michael Shanks!! that’s awesome, I was so sad when SG1 was over, it would be cool to see him in a high profile show..

  • Leslie

Peter Stormare plays crazy pretty well. He’d be perfect.

    • lovelost

Stomare would be PERFECT. They need somebody like him on Lost for sure.

  • UltimateToronto.com

    Lennon = HANSO.

    • Kevin

I don’t think that Lennon IS Hanso, but I think he’s representing him.

I hope so, ’cause I’ve been waiting for them to write Alvar Hanso into the show for years now.

  • K-Dogg

I’m thinking this character could be the captain of the “Black Rock” ship that was seen at the beginning of the S5 Finale, “The Incident”…the character description itself sounds a little misleading.

  • kirads09

    2 suggestions
    (yep, Aus’s arch enemy)
    William Fichtner
    Liev Shrieber

Both are tremendous acting talents and could do the role well with either giving it their particular unique perspective.

  • Carol

Ian Hart from the TV series “Dirt”.

  • Vic

Garret Dillahunt comes to mind. They already had several people from Deadwood on that show so it’s about time he made an appearance. He fits the bill too.

    • Meagan

I’ve noticed the influx of former Deadwood cast members too and that is a great suggestion. I loved Deadwood and I fully support the show continuing to pick from this well. A lot of them could fit this description – John Hawkes, Larry Cedar, Ray McKinnon, Ricky Jay…

      • Heidi

Ian McShane from KINGS and Deadwood?

I still think its the founder of Hanso foundation and for some reason think he’s swedish or icelandic or something like that so I keep thinking blonde actors) but Ian is so charismatic and can play evil and good so wickedly!

    • shoot hamaguchi

Close. The show the actor would come from was right. Just the wrong guy
