Exclusive: Jayma Mays Trading 'Glee' For 'Heroes'

Tags: , , News

Heroes-Jayma-Masi_lOh, relax. It’s only for one episode, and it won’t affect Glee at all. In fact, had the actress’ whimsical Fox series not already wrapped production on its initial 13-episode order, she wouldn’t have been available to do it. But it had, so she was.

Anyway, back on Heroes, Mays will reprise her role of Charlie, Hiro’s ill-fated love interest. As the dying time-traveler zips back and forth through the ages to accomplish his bucket list… well, isn’t it safe to assume that saving his almost-sweetheart would be pretty high on the list? That’s what I thought.

What do you think? Does the thought of Mays back on Heroes make you Glee-ful? Sound off below. (Additional reporting by Andy Patrick)

    love her

  • Cookie

Holy crap, so Masi Oka would really be the one to leave the series??? Oh my…

Way to kill off EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER NOT NAMED PETRELLI/BENNETT/SYLAR (and stay dead).

    • John

Ironic, since Nathan-proper died in the season finale. And given the body turf-war this season, I bet Pasdar is done after this season.

      • Erin

I can’t see how it would happen, but I hope Nathan/Adrian Pasdar stays. It’s my guess too that he’s the one being killed off this season. But I hope I’m wrong. He’s my favorite character!

    • Chris

      for serious!!!

  • sunny

Oh please Cookie, you know that noone ever dies on Heroes
But I really love this spoiler
I always had the feeling, the story of them didnt really end well … also it gets back to something from season 1 almost everybody loved so well done Kring (for the first time in 3 years)

  • Hiro_and_Charlie_4ever!

I loved Hiro and Charli’s short lived relationship and I hope he gets some closure. I hope he doesn’t die. I love HIRO!!

  • Matt

Great News! Jama was fantastic as Charlie on the first season of _Heroes_. Glad to see that see will make a return appearance.

  • ggny

the only episode of heroes i will be watching this year

    • ncooper

      ditto that

    • Tom

Totally Agree. Though I have to say it does display everything that’s wrong with Heroes. Charlie’s death in Season 1 was so heart breaking because the character had so much potential. Not seeing it fulfilled hurt. So them bringing her back as a cheap stunt, to me, shows the short sighted thinking that has led Heroes to where it’s at today.

    • bonjblog

      i agree :)

  • Jason Breslin

Fantastic news! I really loved the brief romance between Hiro and Charlie.

  • ilaam

He’ll finally get to kiss Charlie. Awes. Happy

  • Ian

all they need is kristen bell back and then its back to that 1st season magic

    • John

Ironic, since Kristen Bell wasn’t in the first season. But I do love her, too.

      • matthew

seriously? do you have to use the word “ironic” in every response?

      • Seoreh

Not only do you use Ironic in your posts, but you also use it incorrectly. Why is either of those things ironic?

      • bdoll

ha ha, thank you both for calling him out on the ironic thing. i think someone has been taking lessons on irony from alanis.

      • Jonathan Solana

        @Bdoll

It’s situational irony, i.e. something happens that is greatly different from what we expect to happen.

      • lady n

Actually, to be precise, situational irony is irony in which the character can’t see the “something happening that is greatly different from what we expect” but the audience can — in other words, the audience is in on details the character him or herself is not. Just sayin’.

  • UltimateToronto.com

I have a good feeling about this season, not that cluster-F of last season was anything to brag about.

  • Kristen

You gave me a heart attack! At least, until I read the sentence beneath the headline. I love Jayma Mays but have never seen Heroes, so maybe this will be just the motivation I need to check it out…

    • Alex

If you’re going to become a Heroes fan, watch the first season and then skip right to the new one. The second and third seasons are the biggest waste of your time pretty much ever.

      • Tony

I’m one of the Season 2 supporters, the visual effects were the best of all seasons. And the photography was cooler, in my opinion.

  • rjm

Her character on Heroes was named Charlie? Wasn’t her character on Ugly Betty also called Charlie? Kind of weird for someone with such a limited tv career.

    • mscisluv

Yes, having the same name in both series was very weird, especially since they were quite close together.

  • MUGGLE

I wish that anything about Heroes made me feel anything. I so loved Season 1. The decline of interesting stories is the most stunning since 1990-91′s Twin Peaks.
    Heroes?
    Who cares?

  • Tiffany

Wasn’t that her character’s name when she did an episode of ‘Pushing Daises’?

    • Luddite

Nope. On PD, her name was Elsita.

    • Jessie

It was on Ugly Betty. Her character’s name is also Charlie.

  • Vetinari

Good, they should never have killed her off. While her death wasn’t the main thing that caused Heroes to go off track, it was a mistake that presaged a bunch of other mistakes so I’m glad to see them rethink it.
