Armchair Casting Director: 'Lost'

Team Darlton is on the prowl for an actor of any ethnicity to play…

Paul: An overworked, harried male age 30-60 who finds himself in a highly adrenalized situation that forces him to remain calm and tests his ability to keep his wits about him — a test he fails miserably. Must be available for episodes 602 and 603.

Got casting tips? Think you know how Paul fits into Lost‘s final season? Share with the class below!

I’m thinking that Paul is one of the crew on the Black Rock…maybe even the ship’s first mate, whose diary was won at auction by Charles Widmore?

    • MegLavs513

The diary that was found on the Black Rock belonged to someone named Tovar Hanso; they announced his name at the auction. Perhaps a distant relative to Alvar Hanso – financeer of the Dharma Initiative? But not Paul. I do like where your mind is about the Black Rock though.

I suspect they would be looking for a specific ethnicity if he was a crew member on the Black Rock.

    • Jeff

Probably not to do with the Black Rock as it was a slave ship, and the call asks for any ethnicity. If it was for a Black Rock character, they’d probably have to specify the ethnicity with either the slaves or the crew (or maybe to match Richard Alpert if theories that he came from that ship are to be believed)

  • Angie

Carlos Bernard! (heck, I’d watch him on just about anything, but still…)

    • Josh

      I second this notion.

  • Marina

Seriously, your tweets are deliberately misleading. None of the Lost scoops you’ve been announcing these days has ended up being an actual scoop.

  • Vic

I want to see Garret Dillahunt in that role.

  • Jo

Enrique Murciano??? I’ll miss not seeing him on Without a Trace each show and would love to see him on such a great show like Lost.

  • Marisa

John Malkovich – and now I’m thinking about the skit Bill Hader did on Weekend Update of him failing to keep his cool.

  • Carol

Gary Anthony Williams who played the cross-dressing Clarence on Boston Legal. In fact, Christian Clemenson (aka Jerry Espenson) would be a good choice as well.

    • Tony

I second the Christian Clemenson thought. I think he would be perfect.

  • Heidi

Stick with Deadwood, Darleton – Ian McShane

Or I’d love to see Damian Lewis

Both are lead actors though so may not want to do a small part unless it is pivotal

    • BARB

HEIDI THOSE ARE BOTH EXCELLENT SUGGESTIONS! I LOVE IAN MCSHANE! I THINK HE WOULD BE A GREAT ADDITION TO THE CAST EVEN IF IT IS IN THE LAST SEASON

  • KAH

First a casting call for ‘Lennon’ and now ‘Paul’. Makes you wonder what role a certain band might play in the mythology…

    • Juan

Ringo is next. I wonder what his Lost bio will be? “An extremely lucky guy who rides coat tails of more talented individuals. Likes to laugh at himself… most of the time.”

      • Heidi

No joke we may have some kind of Beatles connection – in some way – or possibly Lennon and Paul would be colleagues (shipmates? hatchmates?) and connected strongly.

    • gigi

Nice Catch! I heard Richard Starky will be making an appearance in episodes 609 and 610

  • Luddite

Enrico Colantoni – I’d watch Keith Mars in anything (of course, I’ll be watching no matter who they cast).

  • Dr. Chameleon

The character description sounds like a possible Dharma Initiative experiment subject. Maybe he’s an early candidate for operating the Swan or the Tempest. Just a thought.

  • Bry_Schulz

Maybe “Paul” is an air traffic control dude for LAX???

    • ncooper

LOVE the idea of them trying to bring in what air traffic control was doing/thinking at the time of the crash. would still rather Paul had something to do with the Black Rock, though…

  • Meagan

Keep the Deadwood reunion coming! Even “Psych” is doing it – both W. Earl Brown and Jim Beaver have rejoined Timothy Omundson and any of them would work.

  • HRFE

Did anyone notice that this is ‘Paul’ right after a scoop about ‘Lennon’? I mean they don’t sound like the band members but Lost isn’t huge on coincidences….

  • Kristin

John Billingsley would be a great pick. So would Ben Shenkman.
