The 36th Annual Daytime Emmys finished last throughout its two-hour broadcast on The CW, but the Vanessa Williams-hosted festivities gave the network its best Sunday of the season. NBC took the night with a pre-season NFL match-up between Chicago and Denver, while ABC’s summer scripted series attempt, Defying Gravity, stayed grounded.

A 1.2 rating for the daytime Emmy awards program is pathetic despite it being a high for the CW. Unfortunately it looks like the primetime Emmy awards numbers won’t be that much better. Most of the nominated shows are hardly on the radar of massive numbers of tv viewers.
