SNL does way too much of that political crap, which usually isn’t even funny. The only time it is funny is when Justin Timberlake is the host. That guy is hilarious.

Sad! I really liked Watkins – excellent comedic timing. She’s the Ana Gasteyer to Kristin Wiig’s Cheri Oteri. What’s worse is that Abby Elliot gets to stay and she is WAY out of her league at SNL. Keep Watkins, give Elliot the boot.

  • Kaylie

I feel bad Michaela is gone (I loved her Hoda) because I don’t feel the writers gave her much of a chance. However, I am extremely happy Casey Wilson is gone! That woman cannot act and is flat out unfunny. I wish Bobby Moynihan went with them!

I *loved* Michaela Watkin’s on SNL. I’ve never been a fan of Casey Wilson, and to honest, I am not on the Kristin Wiig bandwagon. I think Ms. Wiig is good in some sketches, but she was turning up in every single one, and I thought it was too much.

I thought that Michaela Watkins and the other newer gal, Abby Elliot?, were great additions.

This sucks! I loved both Watkins and Wilson. Man, I can’t believe this. Even though Watkins did more actual people I can recall than Casey, I really liked Casey’s timing and overall performance every time I watched her. It almost wasn’t acting, it seemed so natural! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Abby does a Rachel Maddow impression, and I would guess that’s one of the reasons they kept her, but who knows? It makes no sense to fire Michaela because she’s the first new woman on the show since Kristen Wiig was new to get big laughs. Since when does a boss hire someone because they think they are “too good” for the job? I call bull s h i t on that. I’m loyal to SNL, I’ll watch it whether it’s good or not, but this really sucks. I didn’t like her Hoda because she was really only there for Wiig to play off of, but Wiig isn’t going to be on SNL forever. Besides, we and Kristen both are going to get burnt out on her being the girl in every sketch.

  • Rebecca

Is there a way we can petition to get her back on the show? She was the reason I started watching again! Her characters were hilarious!

    • miss annie

got that right! if you find a way let us know!

Oh the post-Tina Fey poo poo storm continues to rage at SNL. With Meyers writing an epic amount of unfunny material, some of the worst musical performances ever, and a revolving cast that makes you wish for the Julia Sweeny days, SNL is one of its longest slumps to date.

    • scoxocs

Thanks. I blame Seth Meyers for a lot. He’s never been funny to me.

  • Hannah

God, she was flippin’ fantastic. How they axed her and not Elliot is beyond me.

  • Michele

I thought she did a commendable job this year. Big mistake. Out of all the featured players, she was the one with most potential. Why the hell would they get rid of Michaela yet keep Abby Elliot? Did Abby Elliot do anything remotely funny or memorable like Michalea? It makes zero sense. Big mistake letting her go! Out of the featured players, it should have been Abby Elliot and Casey Wilson (glad she’s gone kinda) instead of Michaela.

I find this stunning. A truly horrible decision by Lorne Michaels. I really liked Watkins in her first year and it seemed like she had a bright future ahead of her on SNL. Casey Wilson I’m not as sad to see go. I wanted to like her, but she never made much of an impression on me. Maybe she wasn’t given much to work with. But how Keenan Thompson remains on that show is just incomprehensible to me. And why would SNL not add another black male (or female for that matter) comedian, which they desperately need, to the cast this year? Maybe someone who could realistically portray Obama.

  • Steven Kettering

Hmmm.. “it’s not you, it’s me”

And she bought that? poor girl.

    • maiv

She probably didn’t, but you know how it is. You can’t really vent to the press. Look at the other female stars who have already done that.

  • TONY

She won’t be missed and she will be missed.

SNL is way too big now to be dependent on single cast members.

Casts will come and casts will go, but SNL will live forever.

  • Molly Steawrdson

Soooo bummed about both Michaela Watkins and Casey Wilson. I really liked the females they’ve been bringing on. And they’re both really funny! Boooo to SNL…

  • ramoncoke

Sad to hear about Michaela and Casey’s departure from SNL… both were doing a great job on SNL, specially Michaela whose caracter Angie Tempura made me laugh a lot.. .biiiitch pleeeze! We’ll miss you girls! hope to see you soon on the big screen or the small screen, my best wishes on your next projects.
