Bob Saget returns to 'America's Funniest Home Videos' for 20th anniversary celebration

Bob-Saget_lTen-alarm TiVo alert! Bob Saget has signed on to co-host a special episode of America’s Funniest Home Videos that will air in November, EW.com has confirmed. The comedian and former Full House star—who anchored ABC’s video-clip series from its November 1989 debut as a one-hour special to 1997—will share emcee duties with current host Tom Bergeron as they highlight the best moments from AFV‘s two-decade run, which may include but are not limited to crotch hits, dancing animals, toupee snafus, and wedding wipeouts.  The episode, which will be shot in October, marks Saget’s first appearance on the show since his departure 12 years ago. Season 20 begins Oct. 4.

Saget is da man! Hilarious, can’t wait.

  • J

I just want to be the first to say. SAGET FOR PRESIDENT!!

  • Tim

This was reported almost a week ago at the Disney Convention.

  • Samantha

Really?coming Host Americas Funniest Home Videos in November?wow.Bob Saget.

  • Katie

Uh oh…I might be the only one who is NOT looking forward to this. I was always sort of neutral about Bob Saget as a kid, but with a little age/perspective, I’ve discovered that he was a really annoying host (just in my personal opinion!). Tom Bergeron does a much better job, minus the weird thing where they put a cut-out of his head over the heads of people in the clips. But maybe BS will be better as long as he doesn’t do falsetto voices for the babies/animals in the videos. However…bring back the cheesy theme song! “Stories from your friends next door/they never told/You might be a star tonight/So let that camera roll…”

    • gigi

Yes! I hope they sing the theme song too!

    • wordnrrrd

Ditto EVERYTHING Katie said, especially regardng Saget’s annoying voiceovers for people in the videos.

  • hannah

I haven’t watched the show in years, but I will tune in to see Bob Saget. He was the best host.

  • scaryice

The show is so much better without him.

    • jeff

You got that right! I hated Saget.

  • Heather

Katie – Thought you might find this cool, cause it made me respect Saget more: he did an interview a few years ago and said that he thinks Bergeron is the perfect host for the show, much better as a host than he was. (I’m with you – minus that whole “paste Tom’s head on videos” schtick.)

  • Janitor

    “…the Aristocrats!”

  • YouTube

I’m amazed the show still does as well as it does, what with YouTube, lolcats, AwkwardFamilyPhotos, and the dozens of other user-submitted-material sites.

  • Yesenia

I haven’t watched since Saget left…altho that may have just been timing. I’m excited, if not because I’m a huge fan of Saget but for nostalgia’s sake.

  • gigi

I love Saget! Didn’t like that sit-com he attempted…but will enjoy him and Bergeron in dualing silly banter. I love both those guys!

  • Watts

“Stories from your friends next door/they never told/You might be a star tonight/So let that camera roll…”………honey ill be coming home………..i miss the 90s

  • Erin

I won the 100th episode of America’s Funniest Home Videos. How do I get on this show?!

  • Jenni

Bob Saget is hilarious – in adult comedy. He’s annoying in “cutesy” stuff. His stand up is quite different – if you haven’t seen it, check it out.
