In what would be a boon to Sookie-Eric fans, True Blood boss Alan Ball isn’t ruling out incorporating a major (and controversial) plot point from Read the full post.

I just read this part in the books yesterday and freaked out!! But it’s definitely necessary to the plot, no matter what impact it has on Bill and Sookie.

  • tb120

Stay true to the books… let Sookie find her other loves

    Bust Bills secret!!
    Sookie/Eric

  • CharmCityBloodFan

Well obviously, if Alan Ball mentioned this topic in an interview– in the same breath that he exalted the importance of surprise– it’s a safe bet that this particular plot point ISN’T going to surface. At least not in a way that anyone would expect.

But who cares, anyway? This whole debate is getting tiresome. Bring on the werewolves!

    • Selle Castaigneda

I hope you don’t mind if I disagree. It seems to me that if he were looking to leak a little info to give a large fan base called Team Eric an emotional boost up out of the doldrums into which they descended when Sookie and Bill became engaged, this is one way to do it.

      • To Selle Castaigneda

Good point and it gives me hope. I was also thinking if you read the first interview that Ausiello posted from Alan Ball and noticed the response to Ball saying he didn’t get the appeal of Eric, perhaps adding this information here was a small way of soothing some of the wounds caused by those words. Maybe. Hopefully. :)

Without making major book spoilers, the thing about the books that is great and should be incorporated into the show more, is that there is less of a good/evil divide between bill and eric. Bill isn’t as wonderful and Eric isn’t as bad in the books.

  • Victoria

PLEASE bring back the books into the show! While I appreciate a few new things (lafayette not dying.. okay, can’t think of anything else that I like), the story in the books is GOOD! If Ball doesn’t break Bill and Sookie up, he’ll have a really hard time (in my opinion) doing anything from the later books and cutting out some characters I really like. I could rant for hours about some of the changes he’s done but I won’t since it isn’t relevant :P .

  • 37ft2in

@JustAime – I agree. You can’t rush it, but PLEASE TB – give us some damn drama! And S4.

  • Sarah

Yes!! That is one of my favorite parts about the book storyline. You totally didn’t see it coming and I loved it. TEAM ERIC!

  • ~TT

Oh please … keep loosely following the books storyline.

  • Maria

Ball is pushing St Bill/Sookie. I hope that he follows this plot line from the books, but I’m not holding my breath.

    Eric/Sookie 4eva!

  • Mindy

I’ll take Eric if Ball sticks with the Bill/Sookie relationship! At any rate, the books and the TV series are different forms of entertainment, in my (humble) opinion. I appreciate Ball’s adaptation of the book’s content, while remaining true to whatever vision he has for the series. Personally, I don’t want to turn on the show and know exactly what’s going to happen because I’ve read all of the books. Surprise me! (Although having said all of that, I’m secretly wishing for that “infamous” shower scene between Eric and Sookie.)

  • CarolAnne

DUH! Obviously Bill is hiding something. Sure, it jeopardizes Bill/Sookie but the show has hinted a lot about Bill’s complexities. Everyone thinks that he is JUST a smitten, domesticated vampire but he’s not. And this is a GOOD thing. For example why on earth is the Queen so afraid of Bill knowing Eric’s selling V? Bill’s threat was to tell HER. The theory out there is that Bill is working for someone or an organization with a lot of power. One that allows him to stand up to vampires who are older and stronger. Bill showed exasperation with the Queen which finally got him an answer. So as a HUGE Bill fan to me and to many of Bill’s fans we understand that there will be a separation but bring it on. This makes Bill very interesting. And I liked them adding the Bill/Jessica scene there too. So much to explore with Bill than just Bill/Sookie.

    • TeamMe

Thank You, Thank You. I was wondering the same. Why would the Queen worry about Bill finding out that she was selling V? I agree it is more to Bill’s Story than we know yet. Yes he certainly did showed exasperation and was leaving without the queen permission and she finally gave him gorilla shit answer.
Also how she advised him that his friend Eric N. was here. For someone as low on the totem pole as Bill is supposed to be. He sure wasn’t being treated like she did Eric. (He is such a great character, (as long as there is woman).
I do understand like you said they will be separation but as AB said Sookie/Bill love is authentic. Let now see how they handle that love and issues that comes with loving a person unconditionally you have to experience to know if that is something you are willing to do. This will be good for the both and let us see how they journey back. Plus i want to see how Eric and the other suitors, measure up. I love so many characters on the show so it will be great to see how they will handle some of their own situation. I love True Blood and the books are great to read also ( read them at least 3x her side adventures also and Bill is still one of my favorite characters.

  • PIXIE

Stick to the books,I love Eric & Sookie in the books and they arnt really a couple for most of the series. Its a slow burn, but I love it its hot and flirty. But I don’t like how Ball is dealing with Bill, there are reasons Bill is not a fav and Ball keeps changing things, make all the naughty things go away in a bid to make us like Bill, but in realty I think he has made Bill quite bland.

    • CarolAnne

Pixie – it’s called set-up. Bill appears to be this way but he indeed has a secret. Those who just see Bill as boring are missing a lot of clues that the show has thrown out. As for Bill not being a fav – that’s not true. He has many fans. I say bring on more drama. It’s good for Bill, for the show and ultimately for the audience.

      • 37ft2in

Not missing any clues – just not convinced Ball is going to follow up on them. For all of the “Mystery” we also get an awful lot of “boring”

      • CarolAnne

Well he’s been dropping hints left and right since last season. He’ll follow through. I think one of the reason Ball seems to like Bill’s character so much is that of all the main characters in the book he has the most wiggle room with him. His absence in the books gives him a lot of material for the show. And remember there are two sides to every story. It may play out to Sookie like a betrayal but I’m intrigued to see how Bill views it. Bill will always be a major character his story may not just involve Sookie though (and it already moving in that direction with the addition of Jessica). As a fan of Bill more so than Bill/Sookie I’m very happy about this.

      • 37ft2in

My thoughts? Bill’s in over his head. With the intro of Sookie’s “otherness” and the Queen’s warning that drinking her blood will make a vampire fall in love…
That’s how Ball helps get him out of the betrayal. Poor Bill. Can’t help it.

      • CarolAnne

Ball has already said that the love between Bill and Sookie is real and authentic. I mentioned it in my other post. I don’t think SA was saying her blood would make vampires fall in love with her. Just that if Eric tasted her he would see just how different she was. I immediately thought of Lorena and Barry the bell boy. You have to understand for vampires like SA and Eric love doesn’t necessarily mean the same as human love.

      • recordcozy

CarolAnne, that’s exactly what the Queen was saying. *Book* We know that fairy blood is intoxicating to vampires, so why wouldn’t Bill feel that way towards Sookie if he’d had her blood? I mean, look at Claudine. Every vampire was attracted to her, and it wasn’t just because she was pretty. You also mention that vampire love is not like human love. Well, that mostly manifests itself in possessiveness with Bill. With Eric, you at least get something out of the fact that he wants to be with a human at all. This shows Sookie respect. I agree with 37 here. You know, in the books, Bill always says he loves Sookie after the cat’s out of the bag, but do you people really believe him? He just doesn’t want to lose Sookie. He’s just saying whatever he can to get her back.

      • CarolAnne

We’re not discussing the books. We’re discussing the show. I only respond to what I see and what the man who runs the show tells me.

      • recordcozy

We are discussing the books. That’s the whole question. Just because you don’t know this secret yet doesn’t mean that’s not what we’re discussing. “…a major plot point from the books.”

      • recordcozy

And if you mean the SA comment, that was a huge nod to the books. AB’s point little hints about later book plots all over the place. (As mentioned in S1 DVD Commentary)

  • Erika

Sookie/Eric FTW! Stick to the books!

  • Brandy

Stick with the books Bill is an *ss
