A word of caution to all you Thirteen haters out there: Olivia Wilde says this could be the year you start warming up to her icy House alter ego. Or not. Either way, she takes the polarizing response to her character as a compliment, adding, “I’d rather they hate me or love me than feel totally ambivalent.” This could all be a moot point come May when Thirteen’s three-year fellowship expires. For Wilde’s take on that, check out my complete interview with her from Entertainment Weekly‘s pre-Emmy party after the jump…
To see who else I ran into at last night's bash (hint: Kaley Cuoco, Katee Sackhoff, Carlton Cuse, and more) head over to our Emmy hub ASAP.

Don’t get excited House fans. They’re just teasing us again – she’s not going anywhere. She’s been fired more times than an uzi. And she’s always back.
what an idiot
Can we have Cameron back instead of Thirteen, please? Sorry, while Olivia Wilde might be a nice girl, Thirteen is simply annoying and boring. I don’t know why TPTB stick to her so stubbornly… I miss Cameron
But yeah, she is sooo right – Hugh deserves every award on earth!!! Give this guy the Emmy!
I like 13 and I can´t stand Cameron so I prefer Olivia to stay.
the show would be better if they killed 13 off already.
I like 13 too. I prefer her than the bossy and REALLY annoying Cameron.
Wow. i´m with you, i dislike cameron so much and i love 13.
I don’t like either one so get rid of both and get a new chick. What out of work, show recently cancelled chick needs work?
go 13,,, i like her, but not with foreman!!!! she’s great, House likes her very much(not love like okay) i like olvia wilde!!! please stay!!!
whatever haters–Olivia Wilde is adorable.
AMEN, Ig! I’m feeling the 13 love!
Honestly, I’d love to see Olivia in a role that really makes good use of her charm and charisma, because she’s got that in spades. Most of the time, that doesn’t come to light with Thirteen, it’s just not that kind of part.
Honestly, I find this show’s writing has a knack for killing actors’ charisma sometimes. I thought Cole was totally boring in S4 and I’ve thought Edi Gathegi was great in everything I’ve seen him in since then.
Love/hate of Thirteen would be a good thing if she didn’t bore people to death, and make them want change the channel. Unfortuneately, she does.
Just make her stop already. We know she gets fired again, we know she comes back. David Shore already gave an interview saying she’s not going anywhere after her fellowship. She’s the Kenny of this show and no where near as funny (rip offs never are).
But at least they killed Kenny in every episode! We cant even get that relief.
I dont hate 13 or OW. I just dont think 13 should be in the background more than she is.
Ugh Thirteen. I liked her until Season 5 started and she was forced down our throats. It was only made worse once she got with Foreman. The two of them and Taub can’t leave fast enough. Too bad it’ll likely never happen.
I agree! I REALLY resent the fact that they put Cameron and Chase on the backburner and thought devoting entire episodes to her random hookups would make us forget about them. I know the point was to shake up the show so it wouldn’t grow stale, but it’s time to put it back the way it used to be. I don’t care about 13 or Taub one bit. They could do the show from the psych ward forever with Wilson popping in daily and that would still be better than what they had going on with 13 and Taub.
I think the problem is that they fixed it before it needed fixing. Maybe they should’ve waited another year or two before switching teams. Just a thought.
I cannot stand 13. Never liked her, probably never will. CTB/Amber was much, much more interesting and it’s a shame we only get her via House’s hallucinations. 13 Doesn’t engender any sympathy; I could not care less that she’s sick. I felt much more sympathy for Taub as he suffered through House’s insults than I did for 13. And Foreman is no better. I wish they would hook up for good and fly off into the sunset. Then Cameron and Chase can come back and resume their places on the team.
If you knew at leat a little about Huntington’s, there’s no way you wouldn’t sympathise with her character. This is the most devastating disease ever.
I know a lot about Huntington’s and it is a terrible disease. But a disease does not automatically create character development or an audience’s sympathy for that character.
I don’t mind Thirteen that much, but I don’t watch the show for her. There are times in the past few seasons she was overused, however.
But feeling sorry for a character doesn’t equate to liking them or really empathizing with them. The only writer to really get that, IMO, was whoever wrote the ep where she talked about her mother, which was very powerful in portraying her complex feelings about confronting the fact that she’d get sick and regrets around her mother’s illness. The rest of the time her illness has just been a tool used to create predictable melodrama. The show could definitely do a better job in that respect.
I know a lot about HD too: my husband has the gene and will develope the disease. Try to live knowing for certain exactly how you will die (and knowing it won’t be nice) and then tell me if you can be any nicer than 13.
I agree with coolhandkate. Waay too much 13 overload. While I appreciate the exposure this horrific disease has gotten from the show and am sympathetic toward anyone (living) going through this disease, I did not connect to 13 in any way before they shoved that story line down our throats. IMO it could’ve been handled much better.
Why do people hate OW/13 so much?
It’s not like Jen Morrison ever acted better on the show. 13 in the episode Last Resort was better acting than anything Cameron ever did.
Boo you 13 haters. You don’t know $hit.
Well, you should admit that Jennifer Morrison acted better than Lisa Edelstein ever did
I agree. If I had a choice. I say get a new chick. Keep Chase. Have 13 and Cameron in a love affair, Cameron can’t take the betray she has done Chase, her and 13 get into the car, fight, it is raining, they go over a cliff…….and leave it at that.
I like Taub. I do not, oh how I do not like thirteen. Not even a little. Not at all. Cameron is where it’s at.
I think it’s funny that Cameron used to get all the hate, people loathed her and her desire to save people. And now people complain about 13 being boring and taking Cameron’s space.
Along seasons 1 and 2 I only heard comments about Cameron being boring and annoying. Now it´s everything about Olivia and these people seems to love Cameron. They will love 13 when Shore will kill her.
I was never one of them. You can’t assume most of these people are the SAME people who complained about Cameron. You just can’t prove it. NOPE!
Some people hated Cameron. But a lot loved her and wanted to see more of her. Cameron’s desire to save people was one of the reasons I kept watching the show since most of the characters are so unpleasant now.
Very few people love Thirteen. Mostly those who think she’s hot and can provide girl-on-girl action.
I didn´t know a lot of Cameron lovers until 13 came to take her place in the team and Cuddy in House´s heart.
I don’t get the Thirteen hate at all. Sure she’s no Cameron, but I still found her to be a pretty interesting and well-written character on her own.
And it’s not like Cameron couldn’t be annoying as hell at times too. Or have people forgotten that already? lol
LOL. I think I’ve wanted to tell every character on the show to shut up at least once…they all have their ups and downs.
Kutner was my fave of the newbies. Still miss him and his quirks. And I will always take more Wilson/House interaction.
They’re not getting rid of 13/Olivia Wilde with all the lad mag publicity Olivia’s willing to do for the show. It’s too bad from a quality standpoint. Her storylines are annoying and cliche.
Olivia Wilde comes across as a fun and likable person in interviews but unfortunately her acting leaves much to be desired. She comes across as an amateur when compared to the other actors and any episode centered around her is practically unwatchable. Sorry but the show would be much better without her.
Totally agree with you, Carol. Having OW on House is like having the star of your high school dramatic club try to do Shakespeare with a professional company. She’s okay if all she’s required to do if spear carrier stuff like carry a clipboard and read out test results, but give her a scene in which she has to convey emotion and she’s hopeless. She ruins the reality of every scene. The way that TPTB at House have tried to FORCE viewers to sympathisize with her, by putting her in peril in every other episode, as actually made me like her less. It emphasizes 13′s fictionality; she’s like the cartoon cat that gets flattened by a steam-roller and pops up again good as new.
Couldn’t agree more. It’s everything and the kitchen sink to get us to relate to her and I think it backfired in a big way.
so there i was thinking that Olivia is not an accomplished actor and maybe she is not as skilled as others and then i rememebered “god shes HOT”!!
Being “HOT” is not a good reason to keep her on House, or to hire her in the first place! You can see her hotness displayed in quite a few magazines; she’s certainly not shy, but that doesn’t make her worthy of “House.” She might be fine for a show like “The OC,” but does anyone actually believe she’s a doctor? The show was doing great without her; now it needs fixed.
