Thursday ratings: 'Survivor,' 'Bones' battle it out

Tags:

Season premieres brought some big numbers last night: Bones had its highest-rated premiere ever, and Survivor posted high ratings as well. NBC’s comedy line-up fared decently, with The Office and Community bringing in solid audiences, while Parks sort of struggled. The Vampire Diaries slipped from its premiere but still snagged an impressive 3.7 million, but Fringe dropped much of its lead-in audience and lost over 700,000 viewers in its second half-hour.

A repeat of CSI beating Fringe is just sad. People complain about the quality of TV and then they don’t watch the shows that are actually good (see Fringe, Friday Night Lights & Chuck).

  • Bobby

Fringe is probably the best show on TV,I can’t believe that more people don’t watch it.Who needs to see repeats of CSI when you already know who the killer is,originality people, please.

Problem with Fringe is I didn’t see it last season and there is no where online to catch the whole season…so I started watching it last night and had no idea what was going on.

i personally love fringe, and though i dont live in the states i will be watching the second season. in answer to your problem cindy sue you can watch it on ‘www.sidereel.com/Fringe’

I knew they shouldn’t have moved Fringe. There’s just too much competition. It will get slaughtered next week when CSI and Grey’s come back. Stupid Fox.

  • Ama

I feel bad for fringe. Next week it will be up against new episodes of Grey’s Anatomy and CSI. Fox may have to move it to give it a change to survive.

  • Beth

Yay for Bones!!! As much as I love my Fox Thursdays, it looks like Fringe needs to switch nights to do well.

  • Chris

    Go Bones! Great Premiere ep!

I knew Fox was making a mistake when they moved Fringe from Tuesdays to Thursdays. It only got 8 million viewers for the season premiere. That doesn’t sound great to me. I feel like it averaged better during its first season, and numbers should have been higher since the episode was highly anticipated after the season 1 finale. CSI and Grey’s Anatomy are back next week with premiere episodes, which will probably slaughter Fringe. Fox may end up coming in 4th place in that timeslot. Nice going Fox.

NBC’s party week is just about over. Dismal numbers for its new programming against ABC & CBS repeats doesn’t forecast a glowing fall picture. I love The Office, but that was the worst premiere I’ve ever seen for that show. All that parcor running around the office and spreading gossip wasn’t the least bit funny. I take that back. I laughed one good time the entire thirty minutes. And Community was just bad! The guy with the most potential to be the star of that show is the talky geek who doesn’t know how to decipher text speak. So far there hasn’t been any scripted tv show that looks to be a runaway success. That could change next week, however. ABC & CBS clearly have the strongest regular lineups returning next week and add to that five of the most anticipated new shows of the fall: FlashForward, Modern Family, NCSI: L.A., CougarTown, and V. It will be interesting to see which shows America falls in love with first, if at all.

    I LOVE SUPERNATURAL!

Hooray for Spn Love. I adore The Office (and it was a good season premiere, Mr. Matt2), but I can easily catch that on-line on Friday, whereas Supernatural is much harder to view on-line. Next month when 30 Rock starts, I’m going to have a harder time choosing what to watch at 9 on Thursdays. Almost wish Spn was on another night…
