Emmy intel: Sunday's show will be 'Horrible'

Neil-Patrick-Harris_lBut in a good way! Sources confirm to me exclusively that host Neil Patrick Harris will headline a Dr. Horrible-themed production number about midway through Sunday’s ceremony. Score!

If I didn’t know better, I’d say this year’s Emmys are going to be… I know it’s been done to death but I just can’t resist…  this year’s Emmys are going to be… this is the last time I’ll ever do this… this year’s Emmys are going to be… legen — wait for it — dary!

Follow me on Twitter for ’round-the-clock scoop from Emmy weekend. And be sure to check out my video interviews from Thursday’s Entertainment Weekly pre-Emmy party.

best news i’ve heard in many weeks about Dr.horrible. i’ve been replaying dr.horrible all day when im home and sing to it at full blast. which reminds em to buy the soundtrack. i honestly thing this year’s emmy’s will be the best in a long time. go NPH!!!

  • Chelsea

Legendary! NPH was enough of a reason for me to watch the Emmys but a Doctor Horrible number? Who cares who wins? The show will be awesome regardless!

  • SteveStrifeX

That’s amazing news, I’m so excited now. I was planning on just reading up on the winners Monday, but this will make me watch the show. Looks like HBO is getting taped Sunday night

  • Fido

let me echo all the above in saying Wow!

  • DW

I’m still waiting for someone to explain how the heck Dr. Horrible was nominated for an Emmy when it has nothing at all to do with television. Anyone?

    • Katy

It was a brand new Emmy category, something like Short Form Live Action Fiction whatever. BSG webisodes were also nominated. It’s the Emmy’s being up to date and recognizing that the Web is influential in how we watch things. (Or in my Joss loving mind a way to give Joss his long overdue Emmy!)

Agree with you 100%! I think it’s fantastic the Emmy’s are recognizing this. Next The Guild….

  • Moochou

“Legendary” is not a big enough word to describe this.

    • moocha

This is nothing less than EPIC WIN.

  • Dustin

And thanks to YouTube I won’t have to sit and watch the whole stupid HBO Awards show to see it.

    • J

Hardly anything from HBO is going to win this year, so this comment makes no sense.

    • Mark

Nice try to be hip and funny. Too bad you failed at both.

  • Corinne

This is fantastic news. I’ve been in Horrible withdrawal.
Although watching the original is still great after 1000 viewings, new material, in any format, is a bonus.

  • Moochou

You shouldn’t be waiting for it to be up on YouTube, but actually watch the Emmys! Support NPH!

    • Jenn

      Totally agree with this!!!

  • Suzy

    I LOVE Dr. Horrible! Awesome!

  • Heather

Make it more Horrible than ever! Muhahahaha. I need the sequel now.

Yes, don’t wait for the recap clips! NPH is too amazing to be watched not live.

  • Andrew

I have never been so excited to watch the emmy’s before.

  • Amelia

Great news! I was already excited, but now I’m super excited!
