Some good news for 'Chuck' fans (and non-fans)

Tags: , , News

No, the show’s tentative March premiere hasn’t been moved up. Not yet anyway. But sources confirm to me exclusively that NBC will begin streaming old episodes of Chuck on NBC.com this Monday. The move will give new and lapsed viewers a chance to play catch-up prior to the launch of the show’s third season. Episodes being streamed include the Chuck pilot and the entire second season (rolled out five episodes at a time).

And wait, there’s more… NBC.com will also stream the entire first season of Southland beginning Oct. 9, two weeks before the drama’s Oct. 23 second-season premiere.

Bottom line: Watching two of TV’s best series just got a whole lot easier!

YAY! Good timing, too. I need to catch up with Chuck’s second season.

  • darthrazorback

Hopefully this means we have these episode for free on Chuck Me Mondays. :)

  • AJ

Damn you Ausiello, that headline totally got me dreaming of a November premiere. *shakes fist* ;)

  • Cassie

They need to move it up. It’s absolutely ridiculous that they’ve chosen to lose the momentum of the Save Chuck campaign by waiting until March to premiere it. It’s like they want to kill the show. It’s a fast moving, fickle world, and not everyone will remember this show when it comes back. It’s a shame a network wants to play it like that.

Totally agree! It’s like NBC is taking all of the $ spent on renewing the show and flushing it down the toilet. That’s my fear. Hope I’m wrong…

      • Kristy

I can not believe we have to wait till March to see Chuck. You’re right they need to move it up. What is wrong with NBC?

  • Jay

The complete first season has been streaming off of Warner Bros site for a while. That’s probably why they’re focusing on the second season on NBC http://www.thewb.com/shows/chuck

  • LeoLA

Yea! I missed a few episodes and was feeling left out. Woo Hoo!

    • Lorie

Me, too. I lost NBC for several weeks while they fought with Time Warner Cable. I can now watch the missed episodes. Awesome!

“NBC.com will also stream the first season of Southland beginning Oct. 9, two weeks before the drama’s Oct. 23 second-season premiere.”

I’m confused by this. If you go to the NBC.com site, on the front page it says “Watch Full Episodes of Southland Online”. The Season One episodes of Southland have been on the NBC site for some time now. You can also watch the last 4 episodes of Season 1 on Hulu.com. They had the first few episodes up on Hulu a few weeks ago. So, as far as I know, the Season 1 episodes have been available online.
    Somebody please clear this up.

    • NoDetective

NBC.com and Hulu both streamed the first season partially, and on the same schedule – eps 1-4, then eps 4-7 – but the whole season was never available for streaming in full. If you go to either site right now, all you’ll be able to watch are the last 4 eps.

  • Viv

That’s awesome news. I missed most of the second season so now I can catch up and be ready for Chuck 3.0 in the spring.

  • Michelle

Awesome! I watched season 1 of Chuck on Netflix and wanted to watch season 2 before the premiere! I’m really enjoying it so far. Now my only question is why wasn’t I watching sooner? :)

    • anna c.

      spread the word! woot!

  • Cos

    Big deal!

  • lovesurvivor

Ok, I can kinda be ok with this. For those who weren’t watching before, they can now get hooked before 3.0 starts. The real question is if NBC will put any ad $ into the show. They spent loads of promos on Heroes last season…how about showing Chuck some love, so people know it’s on???

    • Jennifer

I agree 100%. I watched Heroes at first, but have no interest AT ALL and would love to see some new Chuck! This will have to do until the network gets it’s act together and figures out what is good television. I am not holding my breath, naturally…

      • Kristy

I’m with you on this one Jennifer. I could careless about Heroes. I want to see new episodes of Chuck.

  • Natalie

Great. Luv that Chuck. I shall name it Chuck Luv :)

  • andie

I have a feeling Ausiello posted this just to get a Chuck mention in.

  • KM

Yay! A great way to get new viewers!

  • Jill

This is good news! Though I’m still unhappy we have to wait so many months for new shows. I just don’t get those bigwigs at NBC.
