Stephen Moyer on Sookie-Eric: 'They've got great chemistry'

Of all the Emmy interviews I did yesterday, my red carpet Q&A with True Blood‘s Stephen Moyer may be my favorite. This was my first time interviewing him one-on-one, so I think I was expecting someone more along the lines of, well, Bill Compton — that is brooding, dark, and relatively humorless. (I couldn’t really get a read on him during that group interview at Comic-Con). Well, Moyer is none of those things, as you’re about to see. I was particularly impressed with his response to my Eric-Sookie question as well as his take on why the show’s love triangles don’t suck. Watch the video after the jump!

Head over to the Emmy hub to watch the rest of my red carpet interviews. You'll be happy you did!

Biggest Shocker: The British accent! I knew he had one, but actually hearing it while he’s grinning all sheepishly charming? Makes it easier to understand how Anna P. is so taken with him. LOVE True Blood, and having serious withdrawals on Sunday Nights for the next few months seems unavoidable.

  • kc

He seems like a cool and charming guy. Obviously, the whole cast just loves the show.

  • Cam

Michael, I thought you met him at Comic-Con, too. “Relatively humorless” — boo! Stephen Moyer is so classy.

    • Eva

You’re right – I saw that interview, and he was cracking jokes – hardly humorless. But he admits he talks to much and he was holding back a bit for Anna & Alex. Love Stephen, so charming and so handsome, light hair or dark!

      • Javabooknut

He meant the character was humorlous. which he is

      • AllieZ

He said he thought Moyer would be more along the lines of his character. Which is what Eva is refering to.

I agree, I could have sworn you had met him before. Also, Aus, I’m rather appalled that when you said Sookie’s name, it was all wrong! It rhymes with cookie, Mike. You know that.

  • Anita

I love him! “Bill” is officially my favorite “vampire” again, after rescuing Bon Temps, Sam, Sookie, etc. Looking forward to Season 3.

  • Zara

He’s so sweet and funny! Don’t know how you could not get a read on him (maybe you were too busy looking at Alex – :) ). The three of them have great chemistry together, but Stephen Moyer truly lights up the room.

ew i hate the character bill. but then again, i read the books first. the character they’ve made him in the show is different. bill is lame. eric is the winner.

the actor is great though, don’t get me wrong.

    • Jess

I completely agree with SHerry the Actor is great but I definitely say Sookie & Eric is the winning pair.

  • Kat

Rather than “great chemistry,” they’ve got a lot of True Blood fans to vote for them. The chemistry in season 2 was just “meh.”

  • Nicole Cassandra

who knew Michael was so tall! or maybe Stephen Moyer is really short, or is Michael standing on something? Anywho, I like Stephen Moyer a lot more than Bill, so it’s nice to see him as himself.

    • suzanne

      google stephen moyer height:
      5′ 10″ (1.78 m).

  • Amy

I’m not a terribly big fan of Bill, but I could definitely see myself becoming a fan of Stephen. Loved this interview.

  • Liz

Stephen is witty and charming and has a fantastic sense of humor. He’s a real cheeky london boy. As fan of BOTH Bill and Eric’s it always pleases me to see how great those two guys are in person. Alex gets to have a bit more fun with his character – which is what I love about Eric. And I love Bill’s tortured soul bit. I just want to take care of him.

  • Kari

I hate Beel, but stephen seems like a nice guy, I like him a little more because of this interview: SOOKIE&ERIC FTW!!!

  • Louise

Stephen is everso right. AS and AP have incredible chemestry. Forget the bed scene. That little after Godric scene made me slide to the floor!!

  • Connelly79

As a fan of Bill’s and Stephen’s it’s the contrast that I love so much. I think I became smitten with Stephen first and that has bled over into my love for Bill. I had a major fangirl moment when he walked out with David!

  • dee

I love Alex too Stephen… *sigh* Oh eric

  • Lori

Have to agree Stephen, Alex and Anna have great chemistry! Stephen seems so nice, no wonder Anna fell for him
