I can’t believe that they would even consider getting rid of Eric Braeden!!! Are they crazy? Him and Jeanne Cooper ARE the Young and the Restless. I don’t mean to take away from everyone else on the show because they are all awesome. The article didn’t say whether Victor is getting killed off or if Eric is being replaced but I have news for them; there is only 1 Victor Newman and Eric Braeden is him. OMG, I still can’t believe it.
I think it is a big mistake to let Victor go. I agree with the other writers, get rid of Adam that story line is unbearable and I will also say the story line between Ashley and Sharon is terrible. I love the show but those two situations are unbearable. Also free up the money for Gloria, Jeffrey, Deacon, Patty etc. I will admit I mainly watch the show for Victor and the story lines around him
Big mistake Sony & CBS! If you let Eric go, Y&R will never be the same. His character is pivotal in so many plot lines – it would be a completely different show without him. Eric is worth whatever he is asking for – why not get rid of some other dead weight on the show. The Adam storyline has become unbearable and he needs to go as do Gloria, Jefferey & Deacon. That should free up enough money so that Eric can continue his role as Victor. We love you Eric!

If you let Eric Braeden go your all crazey you might as well close the show down there will be nothing interesting to watch anymore. I have lived with these characters in my living room for years and no I’m not the only one who will stop watching if they let him go. I will not watch anymore.
It’s difficult to believe Sony/CBS couldn’t have found a way to keep Eric Braeden on the show. The Y&R will surely go down in the ratings without Victor and Nikki as main characters. They are the GLUE for this show even if some people don’t care for the character Victor. How short sighted a decision this is…one that will no doubt be regretted as they lose longtime viewers. I have watched the show since its inception in 1973 but am losing interest in it with the lame writing and now THIS.
I just can not believe they would let “Victor Newman” leave Y&R! He is Y&R! I would also like to say that I do not like the story line going on now with Sharon and Ashley. Y&R should get rid of “Adam Newman” instead.
I agree the baby-switching plot is false emotion, because we know the truth. It’s hard to feel sorry for sharon beause we know her baby is not dead. Whoever came up with this storyline is the one who should be FIRED!
My problem with the baby-switching storyline is that One Life to Live just did a similar story a few months ago. They did a great job, and now Y&R is just copying them. All the soaps need to find a new pool of writers with fresh ideas.
I agree they need to fired the baby snachter that wrote that story line.

Eric Braeden is definately the glue that holds THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS and possibly Soap Operas in general at this point in TV —HUGE mistake if he is let go—give him the $$$$ he requests. It will be more than worth it in the long run……..

Without trying to sound argumentative, I have never been a fan of the show, the character or the actor. But that’s not my comment. I ONLY know of contracts where the employee must work the full term and the employer can end the relationship at any time. I’d love to see a place these days where that doean’t apply!
I don’t blame the man, for leaving. I have watched the show since i was a teenager, it won’t be the same show, but it hasn’t been for quite awhile, the show pretty much sucks now!
It is unbelievable they way they are treating Mr. Mumbles. The Black Knight is Y&R! The Great One will go down as one of the best characters in Soap history. Eric Braeden did a great job portraying Mr. Moneybags. I will miss you Mr. Moustache!
Eric should just be grateful to be 68 and still working in this industry. Has he heard of Guiding Light? Cancelled because it was too expensive to make. Why? Actor’s over inflated salaries. With shrinking audiences and the economy the way it is, he should just be grateful to still be working. And I can’t imagine if he leaves Y & R that any other shows will be interested in hiring an actor of his age who also showed no interest in compromising. Oh well, if he was that good of an actor, he wouldn’t be in daytime tv.

Actually Eric Braden has appeared in many movies and TV shows over the years and is an excellent actor. The Y&R will not be worth watching as he, Nicky and Catherine are the backbone of the show along with Nick and Sharon.
