Exclusive: NBC may move up 'Chuck' launch

Tags: , News

Chuck-Levi-Yvonne_lIt’s good news (for me), bad news (for NBC): Since its numbers are down and its new and returning shows are mainly DOA (Southland was axed before new episodes even aired!), Chuck‘s third season might get to premiere sooner than the March date that’s been bandied about thus far.

“How much sooner” you ask?

As early as late October, my moles tell me. And while it remains unclear whether the little show that could (and has and shall again) would return to its Monday timeslot or find itself a new perch, NBC insiders who’ve seen the first four episodes are calling this season the best yet.

But wait, there’s more. If Chuck does come back sooner rather than later, the chances of NBC ordering additional episodes beyond the 13 it initially commissioned increases dramatically. And they increase further if it performs solidly… which for NBC, at this point, means my cat, Mister Scooch, sits down to watch with me. (Seriously, anything above a 2 rating in the 18-49 demo should do the trick.)

Are we happy, people? Dumb question. Allow me to rephrase: How happy are we? Weigh in below!

    • josh

Easily one of the best shows on tv

  • John

Officially the only good that could possibly come from Southland’s premature demise. I do love me some Chuck!

  • Sarah El

PLEASE bring Chuck back ASAP! Just make sure it doesn’t get stranded in a bad timeslot. It would kill me if Chuck got canceled anytime soon. I miss it so. D:

  • nooo

    EFFFF NO.
    SCREW CHUCK.

    • Brody

      Go away, please.

      • joey

I second that. Go away, bear.

    • Ryan

      To noooo:

SCREW YOU. If you don’t like Chuck go away then.

    • Lau

If you said that you’ve probably never watched Chuck. Why would you take the time to write that comment on an entry that is all about Chuck? Mmmmm…

    • Adam

Have you ever watched the show? If so then tell me why you don’t like it. If not then shut up and don’t offer your opinion on something you don’t know about. By the way, Chuck rules.

    • kristy

      Chuck is the best.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Lulu

    • Jack Mandeville

      screw u beeotch!

    • Chris

yeah, get off here and go watch survivor. can’t wait for Chuck.

  • Jason

I HATE that this may come at the expense of Southland, but it is still some good news.

    • Warda

Agreed. I’ve never even seen Southland, but if NBC can treat Southland that cavalierly, there’s no reason they wouldn’t treat Chuck equally badly. Bad precedent. That said, I would be very happy to see Chuck air before March, even if the reason has me more than a little wary.

      • Bill

        I’ve seen both
        Chuck AND Southland, so
        give me Chuck!!!

  • Cris

    Awesome! I love Chuck!

  • EMB

Perfect way to end my week, with good news about Chuck. LOVE IT!! Fingers crossed that this comes to pass.

  • Michal

This is the best news in this fall season. I can not wait!!!

  • shadi

HELLLL YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH SO EXCITED I HOPE IT RETURNS EARLY

    • topoopon

Jeez shadi! Did you have to steal what I was gonna post?!?!

      Whee! Chuck! :)

  • Jen

    Yay Chuck!
NBC- please, please, please bring back Chuck in October! And order more episodes!

    • SuperAgent01

I so agree! I also promise to bring more people to watch the show! ;)

  • Jo

    Oh, VERY VERY EXCITED!

  • Dominick

How about we keep Chuck away from House and HIMYM. There has to be a better timeslot for it.

    • Brody

      Agreed. Tuesday, maybe?

      • Tim G. (@rural_juror)

Definitely Tuesday. Shorten Biggest Loser to an hour (honestly, why is it 2 hours every week?) and put it on at 9pm so it gets a good lead-in!

      • Brody

Makes sense to me. I’ve always thought Biggest Loser should be one hour, anyway. Plus, then its biggest competition is NCIS:LA, which doesn’t exactly draw the same audience, unlike HIMYM on Mondays.

      • Sarah El

Sounds like a good plan to me! Giving it its old timeslot (which is occupied by Heroes now anyway and as much as Heroes should just go die in a hole, it’s a RIDICULOUSLY competitive time slot) would be a disaster. Tuesdays sound perfect. :D

      • JB

Great idea! Tuesday marks the spot!!!

      • Karen

I agree with Tuesday. My Tuesdays are currently free and are just used for my DVR. So that’d be perfect.

      • Amanda

Tuesday is perfect–there’s nothing on (it’s not like the target demo is watching NCIS)! Do it NBC–we want more Chuck! I’m so psyched that its supposed to be better than ever!

      • Emily N.

I don’t watch anything on Tuesdays so that would be a great night for Chuck. Also, Wednesday at 8pm works too.

      • Stylez

Tuesdays wouldn’t be great unless you want our beloved show to go up against the perennial monster called American Idol

      • squirlgirl

Definitely Tuesday at 9pm. Split Biggest Loser into 2 hour-long shows with the second hour airing Friday night in Southland’s timeslot. I have a feeling that people who watch that show are home Friday nights to watch the weekly results.

      • Jacob

        I love NCIS. D:
Right now my poor Monday and Wednesday don’t have any show, so whichever one gives it a better chance for more viewers…

  • Kristina

    Captain Awesome would approve!

  • Brody

Hooray!!! Viva CHUCK!!! In honor of this news, I am going to Subway for dinner.

  • Lindsey

Oh, Michael, please don’t tease us! If this doesn’t happen now, I’ll be too disappointed.
