I had questions about this when I heard Jay Leno was getting the 10pm time slot four days a week, since this isn’t the type of show for prime time. I love the show, I really hope someone picks it up.

Leno’s show is 5 days a week, I think. Could be wrong, I don’t watch him. But I agree, NBC used to rule with good dramas at 10 (Hill Street Blues, LA Law, ER–I watched NBC Thursday nights at 10 for years since I was a teenager!) Now with Leno hogging the prime time real estate, there’s no room for good dramas on NBC any more. I can’t really say that–haven’t seen Trauma or Mercy yet, but given the way NBC treats their shows, I’m afraid to invest the time. They’ll cancel something I start to like. They did it with Life, The Black Donnellys, Lipstick Jungle–I could go on and on. Not worth it anymore.

I have my fingers crossed that TNT picks up this awesome show. I was hooked from episode one and it only got better from there. Kudos to the cast and crew. Especially Michael Cudlitz, Ben MacKenzie and Regina King. Please TNT!!! Pick it up!! Thanks

i think nbc is really out of their minds on some of their decisions lately southland is a very intelligent show a suprise for most of the nbc content lately
i hope they rethink this or southland can find a home on possibly tnt or whatever nbc is really going down the tubes
    they need new management

Please, please USA or TNT PICK THIS SHOW UP!!! It’s good TV, has never really had any support. I’ll be sooo disappointed if it’s gone for good.

NBC has gone from the best “Must See TV” to a huge disappointment. “Southland”, much like the old “Boomtown” was an excellent police drama, with character depth, realism, riveting storylines, excellent actors – I could go on and on. Let’s hope another network will pick it up. CBS, cable, anyone out there want a real quality drama? I promise you will have many loyal viewers.

Dammit. I loved Southland! After that finale, I was really looking forward to the new season. I’m with everyone else who’s hoping another network picks it up. But, as a Canadian, I’m hoping it’s a station I get! USA and HBO and the like are PayTV stations up here and cost a mint.

    • bootsycolumbia

True. If Showcase or Bravo airs it, I’m okay, but if its TMN or HBO Canada, I’m screwed.

Like most here, I’m shocked about this horrible, really ignorant decision. I didn’t watch Southland because it was on NBC or because I give an ounce of care about that network – what fools! I watched Southland because the show is simply great. Very few programs, if any others, on TV come close right now. Because NBC showed it, they at least got a bit of my respect, if and when I thought about it. Listen, NBC didn’t just betray all of those people involved with the show, they betrayed all of us as TV viewers – pulled the rug right out from under. Even if you didn’t like the show, this is indicative that it might likely happen to one that you do. My fingers are crossed that another network does indeed have the gumption, depth and vision to pick up their fumble and run with it all the way. Where it goes, I’ll go.

Also, who are all of these people watching Leno once a week much less five times a week??? And who in the world is watching all of these terrifically lame, morally-degrading, culture-imploding reality shows?? I just don’t get it.

I appreciate the forum here to express our opinions and this actor hit the nail on the head! NBC-last season-had shows that I actually watched. Anything that was of ANY quality had been canceled. I made the decision then that they are a network not worth watching. I am so thrilled that Medium has gone home to CBS who will treat it fairly. And furthermore, I can’t watch a network that had such a blatant political leaning in the last election. It doesn’t matter where you are politically — this network displayed an obvious favoritism toward one candidate and that is FUNDAMENTALLY unfair to the American people.

This is a great show! Take it to FX!!! Can’t think of a better fit!

NBC you’re PISSING a lot of people OFF!! You NEVER gave this show a chance! I remember NBC playing with their time slot last season! And NOW NBC is trying to keep GLEE out of the Thanksgiving Parade! Are you TRYING to lose viewers?!

  • Dfarley

NBC seems to be giving up on great shows as of late, and hanging on to sub-par shows at best. Kings was a great show, but as soon as the numbers droped even slightly they moved it around then just quit on it. NBCs shows aren’t what’s killing there ratings, it’s lack of heart and bad promotion.

I feel for all associated with SouthLAnd. Michael Cudlitz’s willingness to express his feelings about the capricious cancellation is refreshing….how rare to have someone speak their mind in an industry based essentially on sucking up and knowing the right people. Yes, as much or IMHO often more than on a quality product….look at the vast majority of what’s on TV! He’s been criticized for whining, but a careful read of his comments reveals it’s not about becoming unemployed [he and the others in in this production will have little trouble getting future work] as much as calling ‘foul!’ on the way the message was delivered. I must agree.

NBC, what are you thinking? ARE you thinking? Perhaps your interest IS more in profit than quality and creativity, but of the three shows I watch on broadcast TV, now none of them are on NBC. Time will tell if I am part of a majority….and whether this decision ultimately proves ‘profitable’.

I am certain that SouthLAnd will be recognized- and vindicated- by being picked up on another network. The interest it generated in a mere seven week spring season was significant and well-deserved.

Here is an address where you can voice your feelings about the cancellation of this great show. All the actors are outstanding. Please write and maybe we can get it back on the air
