'Cougar Town' scoop: Rachael Harris is Cox's new rival

Tags: , News

Rachael-Harris_lActress-comedian Rachael Harris (Fat Actress, In the Motherhood) is relocating to Cougar Town to play the potentially recurring role of Shanna, Courteney Cox’s judgmental nemesis, sources confirm to me exclusively.

Wait, there’s more!

Ferris Bueller’s BFF, Alan Ruck — who’s currently recurring on FlashForward — has been cast as her husband, Frank. Look for Frank to develop a bit of a crush on Cox’s character, further inflaming the Jules-Shanna rivalry.

In case you didn’t hear, the Bill Lawrence-produced Cougar Town was just handed a full-season pick-up from ABC.

LOVE Rachel Harris – she is the reason I watched Fat Actress. This makes me so happy!

    love this show!

And once again, Bill Lawrence brings the Spin City actors in one of his shows :) (he played Stuart Bondek in Spin City; He also was a guest on one episode on Scrubs)

    • Dan

Never occurred to me before. Was Lawrence involved in Spin City? Fox, Bostwick, Locklear, Michael Boatman, Richard Kind all appeared on Scrubs.

  • Nicole

This show is HORRIBLE, so maybe Rachael will help it some. But, that won’t get rid of Busy Phillips and the bad writing and acting.

I’m really enjoying the show and think it already has a wonderful cast, but will still be thrilled to see both Rachael and Alan join in.

  • Amanda

I really think this is the funniest new show of the season. Then again, I’ve always loved Scrubs and the writing is exactly the same. I think Courtney Cox is doing a great job and it’s really fun to watch.

I’ll be honest with you, grey hairs in the nether regions kind of turns me off. I’m assuming cougars dye them, but I’d be more comfortable if they’d devote an episode to this pressing issue. It’s a shame that corporate advertisers keep the writers from being brave in the face of modern social concerns.

And this is a pressing issue because…?

    • Ray

Perhaps I’m lost on the sarcasm of this ‘pressing’ issue.

For your info: Cougars do not color them, they are what they are, and mine is as stawberry blonde as the day they first came in, I am 48 years old now and still people think I am 38 or even younger! How do you like that? LOL! Hurray for cougars!!!

  • Eric

I have loved Harris since The Daily Show. So happy to see her on one of my favorite new shows.

  • Brooke

    Oh, fun!

This is seriously my fave show this season. Can’t get enough of courteney cox.

I love this show and Christa Miller is a hoot!!! Gotta love her!!

    • Sina

Christa Miller is cool but she has got to stop messing with her face! I know Lawerence is her husband so maybe he needs to tell her. The chick from General Hospital (forgot her name) needs to be a regular cast member. She is funny everytime she’s onscreen. When she lifted her leg on that guy, I screamed.

      • Laura

Agreed. I didn’t even recognize Christa Miller in the first episode. She’s an attractive lady who needs to lay off the surgery. Also agree, Busy Phillips gets old fast. I enjoy the show overall.

  • Amanda from Michigan

I second Nicole! Get rid of Busy Phillips…or at least tone her down and give her a brain.

  • Ray

This show helps me realize what I am missing by not watching tv. …nothing.

  • Chris Barkley

I got hooked on Cougar Town when I saw the pilot…the most new hilarious show I’ve seen in a long time! A full season pick up? I’M THERE!!!!!

  • Barney

    Who cares
