'Breaking Bad' scoop: 'Damages' creep is Walt's new assistant!

breaking-bad_lAre Walt and Jessie going their separate ways on Breaking Bad? Sure looks that way since Damages evildoer David Costabile is joining the AMC drama as Walt’s (Bryan Cranston) new assistant, Gale.

Described as an eager student and a brilliant chemist, Gale is the antithesis of Jessie (Aaron Paul) in that he’s more interested in the magic of chemistry than getting rich.

Costabile’s casting isn’t necessarily confirmation that Jessie will go rogue in season 3. But given the mounting tension between mentor and protégé, it’s certainly plausible.

Costabile, who also recurs as Mel’s hubby on Flight of the Conchords, is on board for a minimum of four episodes.

Breaking Bad‘s 13-episode third season is slated to debut in March.

Love David Costabile, he’s a terrific theater actor, and it’s nice to see him getting some notice in tv.

Jesse can not leave! I don’t mind if he goes in a different direction plot wise for a short while but he better not just disappear or even worse – die. I think Jesse and Walt have expierenced way too much together for them to be seperated for a long period.

I’m very happy for David Costabile he such a terrific actor. His role on “Damages” as Det. Messer was so evil and memerizing.

I think Jesse must stay. He helps make the Murphy’s Law moments happen.

Didn’t Jesse go to rehab in the season finale? Maybe this guy takes his place while he’s getting clean?

  • Kate

Well, obviously Jesse is going to stay, but I imagine we are continuing our journey into Walt forcing Jesse to grow into a man, but as Walt becomes a badder man, he almost accidentally is making Jesse a better man. I think Walt will try to cut Jesse off from the business to keep him clean, and maybe, just maybe, we might be on our way to Jesse becoming a cop or being taken under Hank’s wing in the DEA.

Jesse did go to rehab, the events of “ABQ” suggest he will spend the season trying to go straight, something of the reverse of his personal “Breaking Bad” . . . and none of the other dealers are good cooks, so it makes sense that Walter gets a new assistant, so long as he still deals with Saul Goodman!!!!

Can’t wait for Breaking bad to return. This show is awesome, Walter is the greatest everyman hero!

how can anyone call a drug dealer a hero? especially walt. ridiculous

      • B

The reason he is a hero is because he is doing it for the right resons and for once in his life he is able to express new feelings.

This should prove to be very interesting. So far I have been thoroughly enjoying Breaking Bad’s choices in actors so far.

  • Jamie

Great news and yes as long as Saul Goodman keeps getting screen time!

  • NOLA

They better not cut down on Aaron Paul’s screen time!

I’ve loved this guy for years.
He can do anything. I saw him on Broadway a few years ago and have followed his career ever since.
    A terrific actor!

I have complete faith in Vince Gilligan to advance the storylines of Walt, Jessie, et al.

    Is it March yet?

  • pooty

Jesse didn’t go to rehab! All Walt did is set him up in some sweat lodge. Obviously this new guy is a lot older than Jesse so isn’t going to take his place, but it does allow them to change things up since Walt and Jesse together have pretty much done everything already. I bet Sal is the one who finds this new guy.

More Sal. More Sal. More Sal.
