This just in: HBO renews 'In Treatment'

in-treatment_lHBO has renewed In Treatment for a third season after closing a deal with lead shrink Gabriel Byrne. But that’s not the big news. No, the big news is that actor-turned-writer Dan Futterman and his TV producer-wife Anya Epstein (Tell Me You Love Me) have taken over as co-showrunners.

Production on the drama will resume in early 2010 with the third season slated to premiere later in the year.

Casting is underway for Byrne’s new crop of patients. As always, referrals are greatly appreciated.

    Wicked show.

Hurray! I love this show. It’s one of the smartest shows out there. Can’t wait to see the new cast. Every year, the “young girl” is my favorite. Hope someone can live up to Mia Wasikowska and Alison Pill!!

    Billy Campbell and Sela Ward

Best news I’ve heard in months! Love that show!

About damn time! I would love to see a FNL’er on this show. Adrianne Palicki would be perfect for this show. Make it happen Mike!

So happy, I love this show so much. It is always so well written and captivating. Dianne Weist or Hope Davis should have won the Emmy!

    Yay!

Glad to hear some good news.

YAY!! I’ve been checking day-in and day-out for this news since season two ended. I can’t wait to see what HBO comes up with on their own. Now I just have to wait for the Season Two DVD so I can enjoy it all again!

    My suggestions:

    Sela Ward
    Lena Olin
    Kristin Chenoweth (wishful thinking)
Kelsey Grammar (once Hank finally dies)
David Hyde Pierce (might as well get the entire Frasier cast :) )
I’d also like to see an older woman, dealing with end of life struggles and regrets about the way she did and did not live her life.

AHH! I don’t care who’s on it. It’s going to be great!

They already had John Moloney (Martin, Frasier and Niles’ dad).
I agree with Sela Ward, David Hyde Pierce, and Billy Campbell (he plays a good sociopath…something Paul hasn’t come up against yet). I’d also LOVE to see Gabriel Byrne play against James Woods. That would be spectacular!!!!

Love this show. I’d love to Sela Ward on, I agree with the other posters who mentioned her. Sela W

Love this show. I would love to see Sela Ward on. I agree with the other posters who mentioned her. Sela Ward needs to be on tv. I’d also love to see one of my favorite british actress Gina McKee. I mean that would never happen but she’s awesome and if she could come to this side of the pond it would be awesome.

    Excellent! Television at its finest.

I worry about the change in showrunners, though.
