Best: Glee, Modern Family, Vampire Diaries

Worst: FlashForward, Three Rivers, The Forgotten

@Ann Isn’t DDD a midseason show? It started in July or something.

  • Sharyn

Sooooo sick of Kristin Wiig. She makes SNL unbearable!

    • anonymous

Finally, someone else in this world who isn’t a Wiig fan!!!

    • Josie

I hate Kristin Wiig. I’ve never liked her or the character’s she plays! UGH!

    • LIlly

I totally agree with you! she is annoying as h*ll!! She is not versatile at all, she is the reason for me to skip SNL!!!

  • Nathan

    Best new show: Glee
    2nd best: Modern Family

    • sunny2

These are my favorites too. I’m glad my PVR can tape 2 shows at once, because I watch both shows multiple times they are so funny.

  • Casey_F

    Best new Comedy:
    GLEE, Community

    Best New Drama:
    Flash Forward

    Returning Favorites;
    Grey’s Anatomy, Bones, Supernatural

    • WD

Grey’s anatomy lost its spark a long time ago…this yr, once again its failing to make an impression.

  • mikmik

Best: Stargate Universe! How did you forget this?

    • Nerwen Aldarion

Because as a former gatehead for SGI and Atlantis (before the latter took a really bad turn) we all know that the Stargate horse is dead, why do they continue to beat it?

      • Q

This isn’t really classic Stargate. It’s actually novel and a different type of scifi.

    • Tarc

Best what? Bore fest? SO, far, it’s been a third class revisit of Battlestar Galactica (and without the interesting characters). I think it has potential, but so far, it’s so very, very dull.

      • Chris

I agree totally! I was wanting Stargate Universe to be so great(to replace its predecessors)but it by far the worst show yet!

      • m.

i think Stargate Universe has potential, but the aired episodes haven’t lived up to it. C’mon noone of the crew thought that ship maybe harvesting energy from the sun (it wasn’t clear if Dr. Rush thought about it or not)?! It was first thing on my mind. I agree about the characters being boring (well Robert Carlyle’s is an exception).
Still i hope it’ll get better because it’s only space sci-fi that is airing this season…

    Best: Modern Family
    Worst: FlashForward and Mercy

  • E

Best new show – Glee, runner up The Good Wife. Honorable mention to Flash Forward.

Worst – Stargate Universe, pathetic excuse for fratboy-style boob ogling & the most inept military in existence.

  • Illyria

Best new shows: Community and Glee

Worst: Mercy, The Forgotten, Eastwick (have not seen Hank and never will)

    • ashley

Glee is awesome! i havent seen mercy, the forgotten, or community. but seriously eastwick is amazing, probably better than glee. why is everybody hating eastwick?

    • Buzz

heheh you have standards! illyria. I salute you for not feeling the need to watch ‘hank’ to know it’s not worth watching!

    • LIlly

I haven’t seen Glee but COMMUNITY is definitely the funniest TV show right now!! and of course THE SOUP!

  • Virgil’s Diner

Modern Family steals the show the for me. I love Glee and Flashforward, but Modern Family took me by surprise. I wasn’t expecting it to be as quirky and consistently hilarious as it has been.

  • john t.

i love glee, but it’s not the best new show. EW got it right with modern family :)

flashfoward’s great too, but it does need to pace itself a little better. there are times i have to switch between channels.

  • Josh

Glee shouldn’t be on the best new shows list. If you were to take out all the musical numbers, what are you left with? A show with plots seen only in daytime soap operas.

    • K

Taking out the musical numbers defeats the purpose of the show. It is suppose to be a show with wacky plots and insane musical numbers. Have you ever SEEN Nip/Tuck? Created by the same guy, insane story lines.

    • angel

take out the musical numbers? its like saying “modern family” wouldnt be great if you took out all the comedy…

      • Q

Vampire Diaries wouldn’t be great without the vampires.

    • Chistosa

Of course it should be on the best shows list. The musical numbers are what it is about.

    • Sarah

COMPLETELY disagree! The dialogue is the funniest, especially when it’s coming out of Jane Lynch’s mouth! She’s awesome!

  • VaPaola

I agree with you. Vampire Diaries started FREAKING GREAT! People were saying it was just a bad copy of Twilight, but for me is a better copy, actually.

    • Trevor

It’s not a copy at all. I’m 31 years old and I read the Vampire Diaries novels when I was 12. Twilight is just a sanitized copy of book series like Vampire Diaries and the Anita Blake series. It’s amazing how many people believe that Twilight is some kind of unique concept.

      • ernie

Anita Blake is Twilight, only the heroine is cool, it came first, and the vampires have way more bite. Anyone who has read that wouldn’t be able to stand Twilight.

      • Emily

Yes! I was editing some girl’s paper about Twilight and she had all this stuff about the so-called spinoffs. Like Vampire Diaries. I’m sick of vampires but I’m even more sick of people thinking Stephanie Meyer basically created vampire lit. I mean, seriously??

    • LIlly

Vampire Diaries is the 91210 of Vampires if you dig those kind of shows (shallow and bad acting) Vampire diaries is the show for you!!

  • Victoria S.

New: Bored to Death, Glee, Modern Family, The Good Wife, White Collar

Most improved: House, Sons of Anarchy, Parks and Recreation

Totally ruined before even airing: V

    • shane

100% agree about Sons of Anarchy. Last season it was just a decent show but this year it’s become must see T.V for me.

Modern Family is easily the best comedy this season and i’m also enjoying Community.

    • Austin

Don’t even say it! I want V to be good SOOOO badly, but I am afraid. I don’t think my heart could take Elizabeth Mitchell at the helm of a sinking ship.

  • Noelle

I agree but I think Flashfoward and Glee are also on the list of best new shows.
And I actually like The Forgotten.

    • Joe

Yeah, The Forgotten is actually pretty good. Could use a more diverse ensemble, but Slater’s pretty good and the stories are intriguing.

I worry that FlashForward won’t move quickly enough for the average viewer but it is the best new drama by far!! And Sons of Anarchy has been on fire in season 2. I think Modern Family and Community tie for best new comedy, and I am also LOVING The Middle!!

And, um…how the hell does last place Melrose Place get a full season order??

      • dave

About Melrose Place, I assume that the CW is sticking with it because they’re banking on Heather Locklear bringing in more viewers.

  • teendramawhore

90210 is just as bad as least year. Still weak, unlikeable characters with weak, unlikeable storylines. Thus far, despite watching every episode hoping for a glimmer of BH90210 magic, I haven’t been able to get invested. And plenty of viewers are quick sick of AnnaLynne, and think her acting sucks and her character is extremely unlikeable.
    -teendramawhore.com

    • anna

I disagree, I absolutely love 90210, this season is soo good! he should put gg together with saturday night life! they ruined it going off to college, like I knew they would..they should have stayed in school forever! like greek in college

      • Olivia

        Best Drama “The Good Wife”
        VERY BEST COMEDY “MODERN FAMILY”
With what is going on right now with the Economy& The World, it feels good to LAUGH!

      • NyLon27

Agreed that GG is failing to hold my interest this season. One of my favorite new shows? Glee! It’s like the movie Election, but a little more PG…and with musical numbers.

    • Sarah

AGREED! 90210 is a bore. I watched it once, and I wasn’t completed disinterested in the characters.

    • Jim

And “plenty of viewers” don’t feel that way about Annalynne McCord. She was nominated for a Teen Choice Award, and has a fan following. Naomi is the most interesting character on ’90210′ because she’s flawed and layered, and less routine and predictable than some of the others.
