Look, add all the new characters you want, mess with the minor storylines in the book that you want, mess with the minor characters in the book- they really weren’t that important in the books and the show adds new depth to them. BUT, jmo, if season three doesn’t stick more to the main theme of the books- yes TB elitists who hate the books that gave birth to the series- then I am SO done with the show. Taking liberties is one thing, but completely changing it is another. The show is great but the books are too and they could have such an amazing story arc if they just stayed truer to the books and I am not just talking about the Sookie/Eric, although I’d love to see it go there.

I just can’t see why anyone would care about this show after its offensively stupid second season. I really enjoyed season 1, but about halfway through season 2 I just couldn’t take it anymore. Enjoy your drivel, fangbangers.

      agreed

I am so Happy Bell is taking liberties with the books. I have read all the books and I still don’t get the Sookie/Eric thing. I want to understand, really I do. But after the reading books, it is still a mystery to me. Glad to see them pair Eric with someone else. I hope it sticks.

Lee Pace as any of the future TBGIAMV.

I personally like Bill and Eric…both for very different reasons. I like Bill because his love for Sookie is true, even if the reason he was with her in the beginning wasn’t. I like Eric because he is more complex. Sure, he’s the “bad” guy, but he’s shows his feelings for Sookie in the small things he does. And I like that Sookie is torn between the two. It makes for great reading and I suspect will make for great TV viewing! So, the addition of new characters to the show is cool, but I am kind of a purist when it comes to the core love triangle in the books.

Oh for god’s sake, can we get some Eric/Sookie already? I’m not asking for them to get together but at least step it up a notch from last season.

  • Rebecca Parker

    Jason Behr as Alcide
    Elaine Cassidy as Debbie Pelt

would be AWESOME. I hope Alan Ball sees this and goes “Make the calls!” :)

The problem with Sookie getting with Eric is it deflates all the morals Sookie had with Bill and just makes Eric another helpless lover to her. I don’t want to see Eric saying ‘Sookie, get behind me” every freaking episode. You need some type of conflict and Sookie fits more with Bill to me

When is Bubba goning to be cast????

Wow, I could only read the first page about the argument about the books vs. the show. Let’s just be honest here, neither the books, or the show are so popular because they are works of artistic merit worhty of scholarly praise.
People love them because they are dark, sexy, and almost make it seem like vampires/”otherness” really could happen (not that they’re realistic, but the way that politics is weaven into everything is pretty genious).
Personally, I some aspects of the show and some of the books. I love Lafayette a ton and I’m glad that they made him a much bigger part of the show than he was in the books, but I thought that Maryanne was lame from the getgo and was glad she wasn’t as important as in the books. Otherwise, I DO kind of hope that they don’t sway too far from the plot of the books because I think that:

    SPOILER MAYBE?

the fact that Lorena is the one who takes Bill is so amazing. The way that all of that goes down in the books makes swallowing the fact that Bill is actually a douche and that Eric is a champion so much easier.

  • Vivien

Eric and Sookie belong together, period. Bill is an unfaithful, old fashioned, sleazy vampire who cowers in comparison to the all round wonderfully beautiful Viking ,Eric. Bill constantly flooded Sookies mind with filth and lies whilst Eric never lied to Sookie. And jeeze do you people fight on this chatroom! Gosh its like a constant catfight! I think you guys take this too seriously! Just because we think something should happen in the tv show because it happened in the books doesn’t mean it has to occur in the show! I read these chat rooms because you are hilarious! Guys, calm down and watch True Blood as it is or don’t watch it at all! ITS THAT SIMPLE! TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT AND STOP COMPLAINING!

  • Vivien

    P.S
sooooo looking forward to Eric’s sex scenes!

  • Bree

Sookie and Eric may be explored but they’ll never be endgame, I’m sorry they just wont. TV works very differently then novels. Couples that are introduced as the main couple tend to stay that way. Sookie and Bill will end up together and rightfully so because they are the driving force behind the show. Bill/Sookie had an instant connection, Eric had to trick Sookie into drinking his blood just to get her to like him. That’s pretty pathetic if you ask me.
