Paula Abdul on joining 'SYTYCD': 'It is an intriguing offer'

Paula Abdul told EW.com exclusively that while “it is an intriguing offer,” she has yet to grant Nigel Lythgoe’s request that she join the judging panel of So You Think You Can Dance. During Monday’s telecast of the dance show, Lythgoe officially offered the former American Idol judge a guest spot on the panel. “I haven’t made any decisions about what I want to do next,” Abdul said while walking the red carpet of last night’s This Is It premiere in Los Angeles. “I might need a break from judging for awhile. But you never know. Dance was my first passion.” – With reporting from Carrie Bell

I say that Paula Abdul should be the new Judge on So you Think you Can Dance.A new Gig for her.Thats good.

  • Damion

Paula judging dance makes way more sense than her judging singers ever did :)

  • Ech

Yes. Let’s take a panel of judges who regularly provide keen insight and witty commentary and inject it with a huge dose of narcissistic and drug-addled rambling. Great.

    • Indeed

I agree. I’d rather that show not become about the judges (cough – American Idol – cough). This show (and Idol for that matter) should be about the contestants. I could give a rats a$$ what Paula Abdul thinks about it. Don’t they get that the viewers at home are capable of determining on their own what they like? Sorry, I don’t need any of them to tell me what I can figure out for myself.

  • Lee

NOOOOOO!!!! Her useless babble will just bring down the quality of the show. Keep it to the talented, somewhat coherent choreographers. That means you, Lil C!!!

    • Pfft

So Hot Tamale trains and screaming is also coherent judging?

      • Tarc

Well yeah, when you’re a national champion and give rock solid legitimate evaluations and consructive criticisms like Murphy does.

  • joe

I bet she’s ‘still considering it’ because it’s not enough money.

@Paula – be thankful someones willing to pay you more than $1 for your useless comments, let alone millions… oh wait you turned down that offer from American Idol because it wasn’t 10′s of millions…

  • fresh

Well the woman knows choreography and dance. No one can deny that.

  • Yesenia

Please…please…do not let her judge. Did anyone see her attempt at hosting on Divas Live? Did anyone really even understand her on AI? All she will do is replace one Brit for another and I do not want to see that again. Mary is enough. There is barely even time on the show itself for 3 judges.

  • Beth

I am so sick of people bringing up Paula and drugs. That is an old old story 3 years ago and Simon apologized 2 years ago for starting drinking rumors about Paula. He was joking when he said that and people won’t let it die. Will she have to pay forever? I’d rather hear compassion from Paula than screaming from Mary. Paula choreographed for the Jacksons…I think she can handle judging SYTYCD. And Nigel worked with her for 7 years so I think he knows what he’s doing. She might wear her heart on her sleeve, but maybe we should all have a little more heart.

  • Lucky

I still think Paula would be a greater asset to Dancing W/The Stars in some capacity. I think ABC would find a lot of use for her in the longer run.

  • renee

i think paula will bring a lot more fairness to the panel than nygel and mary do. can’t see her letting that russell and ariana crap go down last nite at all. she may talk all drooly but girlfriend got claws. watch out mare. please paula paula paula please join the panel please please.

  • annanemesis

uh..Please no!!! Having 3 permanent judges is long enough, I started watching SYTYCD precisely because the judging is the antithesis of Idol. No one want to hear Paula yammer on and on. Besides don’t we already have her typecast equivalent in Mary?

  • Lisa

Maybe Paula can replace that screeching, babbling idiot Mary what’s-her-name.

  • Ann

Paula will shine on SYTYCD. She would be a perfect fit. :)

  • brynna

It’d be cool to see her there! God knows her ramblings would fit in nicely with the rest of the panel.

  • Vanessa

    “for a while”.

yes her judging break will last until american x factor is ready to go :) Next fall! :)
