I was a diehard GH and Days fan for years. Poor GH lost me years ago. Where is the Romance and as they used to say…. “Love in the afternoon?”

i agree with everyone who wrote that the soaps need to get better writers if they want to stay on the air. i love soaps and would watch the every day (on soapnet) if they had great writers. i can tell y&r has new writers because they seem disjointed. like they are trying to bring in their style from some other soap or genre and are missing out on what i love about y&r (and every soap i watch): character development. i don’t need a pop star or other gimick, just develop the relationships and make us care!

In these troubled times it is nice to have an escape from the harsh reality that face us on a daily base and Daytime Drama/Soaps give us that. Viewers learn to love and hate characters that they have known since they were kids, characters that they grew up with and were passed on from generation to generation. One just has to attend any Daytime Soap Fan Club Weekend and you can see the diversity and loyality of the fans that remind each actor why they get up in the morning and love their job and alter ego/character. Daytime Fans are the most devoted fans that one can imagine and once you have captured their heart and imagination you’ve got. There will always be a place/future for Soaps on television with the help of writers, producers, actors and loyal fans that it already has.
James Franco is just an added bonus to the daily doze of guilty pleasure that we take in as Elizabeth Taylor was when she appeared as Helena during the most watched episode on Daytime TV ever and in my opinion there are many more stars to follow in there footsteps.
Daytime Drama is one of the hardest working places you can find yourself in no matter what part you play, writer, producer, actor, camera man..etc.
    Just ask Demi Moore,Kevin Bacon, Meg Ryan,Ricki Martin,Juliane Moore..etc

Oh how true you are, and tell me you don’t wish for Sonny’s dimples or his women. Oh if he beds Claire I am going to be annoyed…

It’s kind of ironic to read some of the complaints of GH. The only reason I started watching it again in 2004, is that it went of the course of storylines like, who cheated on who, who is having whose baby, etc. In other words, since the 1960′s, all soaps have been about is relationship turmoil. That was the very thing I wanted departed from! I welcome the mob influence and some shooting. My fav times were not with Luke and Laura, but with Luke and Scorpio battling the dread DVX in the old days. Not a big fan of the cheating story lines, but I could be rare among my kind. I live mobster movies and really watch GH mainly for the robust action more than anything else. Just a thought for everyone.

I have watched soaps from 1970 till now have not missed one day.
Edge of night, Another World, Port Charles, General Hospital, All My Children, When I was in school or at work, on Vacation, anywhere but home, I tape each of them and watch them as soon as I walk in the door. no 2 or 3 days are not the answer, I am down to two soaps now, I miss those missing…
