Exclusive: 'Numb3rs' fans can count on closure

Numbers-Morrow-show_lCBS’ decision cut Numb3rs‘ episode count from 22 to 16 is the clearest sign yet that the CBS procedural’s current sixth season will likely be its last. That’s the bad news. The good news is that the network gave producers enough notice to plan for a possible series finale.

“We will be doing a 16th episode that wraps up storylines and answers questions,” reveals the show’s co-creator Cheryl Heuton. “It will be designed to stand as a finale, but it won’t create story situations that would hamper us if the network should decide to order more episodes.”

Heuton says she’s confident the episode “will give fans what they’ve been waiting for… We’re looking to feature all our characters and give good moments to every member of the cast.”

Bottom line: We won’t have another Las Vegas-type debacle on our hands.

Thoughts? What and/or who would you like to see in a Numb3rs series finale? Sound off below!

I’d like to see Terry Lake come back. And Megan! And of course Larry!

    • Beth

      I want Terry back, too!

      • c woods

        That’s funny. lmao

    • AJ Simon

I would like to see David and Colby to finally get together.
Also, I would like Larry to fly off in a shuttle but never return – we can say Aliens got him and became so depressed and bored after listening to him talk for 30 seconds, they launched him into the vaccum of space.
      Don moves to Alaska
Amita gets her eyesight restored, dumps Charlie and goes to Alaska with Don
      Their Dad rejoins Taxi

      • Tommy

I have been waiting for Colby to ask David out for a while now.
Ditto to getting rid of Larry

      • Joe

Amita will leave Charlie at the altar, but instead of wasting a good reception, Colby proposes to David

      • Colby Jack Cheese

        Right on brother!!!!!!

      • rudy

        to aj simon
i think you are a little nuts
and i don’t agree with you
the final episode should be a happy ending with charlie and amita getting married and all the cast are line up with charlie and amita after the wedding for a groupfoto

    • Maria

they should def bring terry back.

  • MJ

I am sad that they will be cancelling this show. I love Numbers. I have been watching since episode one. I kinda want Don with Liz instead of Robin and I want to see Charlie and Amita married. I would like Charlie to continue working with Don and working as a professor. I want Larry to come back and Megan. I would like to see something good to happen to David and Colby. They are good characters. Oh…I hate this. I don’t want this show to end.

    • Nic.

      You said it all!!

    • tv reader

Me too. I’ve always enjoyed the show as a whole, and esp. the fact that the core family are Jewish (w/Don being active) with Charlie engaged to an Indian. Also, smart, strong females and people of color, and finally explaining interesting math theories. Probably my favorite procedural, and it didn’t feel stale. Oh well.

      • Doree

I agree completely with you – I’ve loved this show from day one and have not missed an episode. The family relationships (not just the Epps men, but the FBI and university characters) the discussions about such a variety of subjects (math, ethics, religion, science, etc.) made it so much more than just a procedural. It will be missed.

      • Irene

TV Reader, I agree with you 100%. I will surely miss this show. But, if they cancel Numb3rs, then I guess I’ll plan on curling up with a good book on Friday evenings after I watch “Medium.”

      • David

        Well said!

      • Mariah

Oh come on, I think they took the Math Can Solve Any Crime gimmick a bit too far.

    • Sue

      Agree with MJ 100%.

    • CandyMaize

      MJ said it very well

    • Justin

Well Put, MJ. Whether Don ends up with Liz or Robin, I don’t mind cause I like both of them.

    • cindajune

      Yup!!

    • Jill b

I LOVE Numb3rs!! Why do the networks have to cancel every good drama there is?? Of course! It’s to bring us more quality reality and talk shows!! I should be thankful CBS picked up Medium. For a while it was a perfect Friday night.

    • JW vanLohuizen

Man do I agree!!! I have also never missed an episode. They were stunned and confused when they got the family show award, but after a time they got it and the show has been really getting better and better.

I was confused and saddened when Megan left without any real reason. Larry is a good character and it makes allot of sense to me that he comes and goes. It add interest to the story.

I would like to see a new story line added that could become a spin off series where Charlie and Amita (after they are married) begin to teach a class in the Law dept. that teaches intern students with the FBI who are very good in math (but not genius’) to become crime investigators.

This series can’t die it has made math cool again!!!

    • Peggy Weissert

I agree, it is such a wonderful show. Too bad it was stuck in such a bad time slot, never had a chance. Anything to be done to save it?

    • Jan

I am so tired of seeing all the great shows vanish for another reality show about somes problems in life. Entertainment!! Leave Numbers alone and keep it on!

  • CRYSTAL

I LOVE NUMBERS. I’LL BE SAD IF IT GOES

  • Phillie717

I don’t want them to cancel this show at all!!! I will be boycotting CBS if they do so!

  • MAS

Thank you producers! My perference would be for Numbers to continue, but providing fans with satisfaction shows that producers remember what business they are in – the entertainment business.

  • Jeff W.

I can honestly say that I’ve never heard of this show.

    • maryb889

      I can honestly say you’ve missed a good one…too bad for you…

    • Mariah

You can check it out on TNT probably for eternity or until just before or after one of the many variety of Law and Order shows.

  • Tom

Will miss this show when its gone – all it does is create another hole in my dvr schedule that won’t likely be filled by network TV.

  • kate

    i love numb3rs!…oh no…

  • paige

The good news is that its getting cancelled. The bad news is… um… NOTHING!

    • Steve

Awww thats mean to say. Was Numb3ers offending you in some way or something? If only you had something else to do on a friday night.

    • NavyResGirl

If you don’t watch it, why do you care one way or another if it’s on the air?
You must be really bored today to post to this article.

  • Michael

You had to bring up Las vegas and re-open the wound! Stupid NBC!

    • Stacey

I agree with you – Stupid NBC!

      • Michelle

I totally agree…I am still mad about Las Vegas

    • Justin

      Right on!

  • Jenn

I love Numb3rs! I will be sad if it goes off the air. The show has done so much with educating people that math is actually useful in other areas than taxes and making change at the drivethru.

I really would love to see Don with Liz, Charlie and Amita get married, and for the producers to do something great with Colby & David. The Colby/David dialogue since discovering Colby was a triple agent has been hilarious! (The date was one of the best scenes of them!!!) Don’t get rid of Numb3rs… Flashpoint is terrible!

    • ShutUpRob

I second everything you said, Jenn! I’m especially glad that you brought up Don and Liz. I don’t know what they were thinking with that Robin, who has no chemistry, romantic or otherwise, with anybody in the cast. And that’s no fault of the actress — just of the casting directors, who are ostensibly paid to forsee things like this.
      .
Also, if it’s going to be the last season, I’d like to see David get his own team. Kinda the only good reason to *hope* that David’s deserved and inevitable promotion doesn’t happen anytime soon. But hey . . .
      .
And personally, I’ve never seen Flashpoint, but I think CBS should continue to have Numbers and Flashpoint share the timeslot. With the increased episode counts of most of the other series on the network, it seems to me that CBS is figuring out that loads of repeats of anything just won’t cut it anymore, so why not keep *both* shows running?
      .
      – Rob

      • David

“I’d like to see David get his own team. Kinda the only good reason to *hope* that David’s deserved and inevitable promotion doesn’t happen anytime soon.”What does that mean? It is “deserved” it is “inevitable” ,but hopefully it won’t happen anytime soon? I don’t get it.

    • tvfan

I agree and Flashpoint is awful.

      • Haley

Flashpoint is way better than Numb3rs this season IMO.

    • ShutUpRob

IMO, David’s promotion is deserved (obviously) and not-so-obviously inevitable because some political hack a couple of ranks above Don (someone along the lines of a Keith Carradine type) could certainly penalize anyone on the team if the mood struck him.
      .
But David’s too awesome for anyone to succeed at getting revenge on Don through his current #2.
      .
      – Rob

  • Marge

I love numbers. Watch it religiously every Friday night. I really hope it continues.

  • Shadow Step

I’m not watching it, but its decent that they at least give the showrunners time to finish it properly.

  • CAM

    Don and Robin (Not Liz!)
    Charlie and Amita- married
    Larry and Megan– together!
Colby and David- Give these guys a good ending!
And don’t forget Alan– He deserves to find someone, too!

    • CAM

Colby and David– I mean they each need their own good ending. David should be heading up an office somewhere. Maybe even taking Don’s place as he seems to need a break!

    • Jojo

Amen!! I agree with everything you said!!

      • Ana

I would love to see on the last episode all the cast memebers shouting out “we’ll be back next season”.
