This just in: ABC cancels 'Hank'

Tags: , News

That noise you hear is the sound of no one crying. ABC has pulled the plug on Kelsey Grammer’s critically-drubbed and low-rated freshman sitcom Hank. A network insider says there are no current plans to air the five remaining episodes. Hank will be replaced on Wednesdays at 8 pm with a mix of comedy repeats and holiday specials.

And are replacing it with Better Off Ted (pretty please?)…

How well would Samantha Who? have fit in to this block? -sigh-

    • RJ

Ahhh… “Samantha Who” would’ve worked lovely on the Wednesday “comedy block”…

    • cndn610

I enjoyed Samantha but she wasn’t DVR worthy. She should have been good on Wednesdays though, I just might have watched. We are all Better Off Ted! Please, ABC, bring it back!

    • Rock Golf

Move Modern Family & Better Off Ted to the 8-9pm block and you have the funniest hour of TV period.

    • Carole

Wait Hank was still on…oh my bad…thought it was cancelled after the first show

    • Sarah

Love Better Off Ted and it would go great with the other Wednesday comedies. Modern Family and Cougar Town have such strong ratings that maybe MF can kick off the night, followed by The Middle, Cougar Town and BOT. Hmmm…

      • Sarah

Oh and Ugly Betty in Eastwick’s place capping off the night.

  • gigi

I attempted to give the Thanksgiving episode a shot..and ended up shooting myself. Sad part is Kelsey Grammar a bad guy…just signing onto bad shows.

    • gigi

      “isn’t a bad guy…” sorry bout that.

      • nikkido

You had it right the first time.

    • dex

The truly ironic part is, Kelsey Grammar was on Conan Monday night promoting Hank.
I feel like recovering it from my TiVo deleted folder just to hear Conan end the interview with “…and Hank is on ABC Thursday nights at…”

      • Carmen

After knowing more about the star’s personal behavior, his ratings have absolutely dropped in my opinion.
I’m sure many viewers feel the same.

  • Sherry Rae

I actually liked Hank… Now I need to replan my Wednesday with Hank and Eastwick gone…

    • ryan

      thats sad.

    • Carole

How about some witty conversations or blogging about how you have no shows to watch…

  • Travis

Not only was the show bad, but it made little sense.

In what universe would a founder and CEO of a company be pushed out and not have anything to show for it? What happened to all the stock he would have owned in his company? Its impossible that he would just become poor just like that.

Grammer needs to move on and return to something where he is potraying Dr Frasier. Maybe he can get a new show based in Boston where Frasier becomes a sports psychiatrist to the local pro athletes. At the end of each show he can sit at the Cheers bar for a 1 minute scene to end the episode. If they had all the scripts done at the start for the season they could lock all the old guys up once a year for a guest appearance and just film those 1 minute scenes at the start of procuction and then add them to the episodes as they film them. To add more to it they could do episodes where he helps visiting players from hated teams and he gets heckled around the city by local sports fans.

    • Steve

When a company goes bankrupt the stock becomes worthless. You’d think he would have SOME money put away, though.

Hank Is gone but where are they putting Ugly Betty??? Lots of other sites are saying they are moving it to Wednsday Nights but I have not seen anything on this site.

    • adam

I doubt they will move Ugly Betty to Wednesdays. Eastwick will finish it’s run, which will probably go into January. Once it ends, Lost will be coming back and I’m assuming they’re going to want to keep Lost on Wednesday nights.

  • Gina

Does this mean Jordan Hinson is coming back to Eureka??? Pretty please with sugar on top!!!

  • Jed

MOVE UGLY BETTY TO 8!!!!!!!! I don’t want to lose it!!

    • laura

I am all the way with you on this!!!

  • Karen

Wow. With both Eastwick and Hank cancelled, Jamie Lynn Newman and Jordan Hinson can return to Eureka…

    • Gina

I know isn’t it great! Carter needs his daughter and his girlfriend.

    • Sina

Yeah Jamie Lynn because that is a great love triangle that could happen. But leave Jordan Hinson away. Hated her on that show.

    • Brian

Actually it’s Jamie ‘Ray’ Newman according to IMDB…

  • Andee

The show probably seems even worse because we can’t help but compare it to Frasier. It’s a hard one to top. But keep trying, Kelsey! I’ll always pay attention to whatever you do. :)

    • Sue

It was hard not to compare it to Frasier, but I gave it a chance–it just wasn’t funny. I love Kelsey Grammer still, and hope somehow someday he gets a show worthy of his talent.

  • Pete

Oh noze…the conservatives on Drudge will scream about Grammer’s politics causing the cancellation…

    • Brigid

They’ll have plenty of ratings to refute that… but things like “facts” don’t really mean much to them anyway.

      • J-Bob

Nice job draggin politics into this Brigid. Maybe you should get YOUR facts straight you left-wing D-bag!

  • Jess

Better Off Ted and Scrubs would go great with Modern Family!

  • James

More than likely, “Scrubs” will take the place of “Hank”, which will start a war for 8PM Wednesday with “Better off Ted” because “The Middle”, “Modern Family” and “Cougar Town” are hits

    • MDC

SCRUBS and TED are already scheduled for Tuesdays starting 12/1.

      • cndn610

I am so excited that Ted is back Thanks for the update

  • i

    travis

that is a really good idea, perhaps you should put some more work and thought into it and pitch it to the appopriate people

  • Todd

    Thank God.

  • Rodney

Scrubs and Better off Ted are going to be on tuesdays after DWTS is done so neither one them are will be on wendesday. ABC kept those two shows because they like them together so they are not spliting them up. Also, ABC wants to keep all of the other Wed. comedies. Ugly Betty can’t be on Wed. because of this. UB is a hour long show not a 1/2 hour show so moving in to Wed. makes no sense. To bad they can’t bring back Knights of Prosperity. I miss that show.
