Ratings: Football keeps NBC, Fox in the game

Sunday Night Football boosted NBC’s Sunday night ratings to winning levels as usual, with the Patriots-Colts matchup on par with last week with 19.1 million viewers, according to early Nielsen estimates. Football juiced Fox as well, with late afternoon football running over into primetime and bumping The Cleveland Show up by 11 percent, Family Guy by 8 percent, and American Dad by 33 percent (after special its early-evening scheduling last week). CBS continues to fade on Sundays with Cold Case losing more than a quarter of its audience from the same week last year; though it was up 1 million from last week, the Eye still came in a rare last place for the night.

Nice to see B&S over 10 million. Wonder if it’s picking up buzz with the great work Calista Flockhart is doing.

And go “The Amazing Race”! That show is still so good.

I do have a soft spot in my heart for THREE RIVERS, and will always applaud COLD CASE. It may be the latter’s time has come, but I find each week’s episode entertaining and interesting to screen. I am pleased AMAZING RACE does well. It deserves each and every Emmy producers have on the shelf (shelves?!).

If there is any certainty on tv, it’s the power of ABC’s Sunday night lineup to go up against football and pull in huge numbers in both total viewers and demo viewing.

  • ratings-wise

Three Rivers lost 3 million of the Amazing Race audience. “Cold Case” picked up 800,000 from a bad lead in. Maybe 3 Rivers is the problem.

Maybe if Three Rivers started on time, the numbers would improve. I’ve got a DVR so I can always tape it. It’s a fantastic show and I hope more people get the opportunity to view it. The message is very important and it’s a good team of actors.
