I’ve got a new numbers-related Lost mystery for ya. Anyone know what 02022010 means? I do — it’s the show’s return date!

ABC just confirmed that Lost will kick off its sixth and final season with a two-hour premiere on Tuesday, Feb. 2 from 9-11 pm. The requisite recap special will start things off at 8 pm. The following week, Lost will settle into its regular Tuesday-9 pm perch.

The ABC press release announcing Lost‘s return date also revealed who among the show’s cast will receive full-time, series-regular billing in season 6. And the winners are… Naveen Andrews (Sayid), Nestor Carbonell (Richard), Emilie de Ravin (Claire), Michael Emerson (Ben), Jeff Fahey (Frank) Matthew Fox (Jack), Jorge Garcia (Hurley), Josh Holloway (Sawyer), Daniel Dae Kim (Jin), Yunjin Kim (Sun), Ken Leung (Miles), Evangeline Lilly (Kate), Terry O’Quinn (Locke), and Zuleikha Robinson (Ilana).

Not mentioned in the press release, but confirmed to return on a guest-star and/or recurring basis, are Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet), Ian Somerhalder (Boone), Rebecca Mader (Charlotte), Dominic Monaghan (Charlie), Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond), and Katey Sagal (Helen). That list will no doubt grow as the season progresses.

What do you think of the new time-slot? Sound off below!

S0 what will the rest of ABC’s Tuesday night schedule look like? This displaces both Scrubs/Better Off Ted (airing there in December) and, later in the season, the Dancing with the Stars resuls show.

    • Tim

Who cares as long as Lost is back.

      • DVaRmy

exactly!!!!! how many days is that? I am going to have to start my countdown!!!

      • DVaRmy

        74 days!!!!

      • Matt

Who cares? Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen every episode of Lost at least 3 times, but Better Off Ted is amazing, and Scrubs was good, we’ll see how it is this season though.

      • kiki

your right … who cares, as long as Lost is back :D

      • Anna

Perfect tuesday schedule: V and the LOST!

      • Khristina

OMG- I thought I was the only one who has a “How many days until LOST” calendar! lol This is such bittersweet news…I can’t believe it’s the last season. WTH am I going to do with my life after May 2010?! lol

      • Amanda

I agree with Anna!!! I hope V makes it past the first four episodes (I have no doubt that it will) and it will be a perfect Tuesday. Get all my shows done early in the week (includes House on Mondays)

      • mikey

V is a mini series Amanda and Anna. It is broken up in to 2 4 episode seasons. The last episode of this season is Tuesday. I’m not sure when they are airing the last 4 episodes.

      • SteevoNYC

DVaRmy — did it really take you 8 minutes to figure out that there are 74 days btw 2/2 and now?

      • Michael

Tuesday looks to be DWTS Results, Lost and either Forgotten or V. (I think it will be V.)

      • Dave Harless

        I’m with Tim.

      • gigi

        Haha! My thoughts exactly Tim!!

    • Dusty

As I both a Lost fan and an optimistic fan of Ugly Betty, this is awesome news. I’m stoked. Wish it was premiering about a week or two earlier, but I’ll take it.

      • Dusty

…this wasn’t supposed to reply to Jake, but w/e

      • Michelle

Yay for Lost and yay for Ugly Betty hopefully…I PRAY ABC smartens up and moves it to Wednesdays.

    • 108

      who cares… LOST is superior

    • Ashley

Who cares about Better Off Ted & Scrubs? LOST is back for it’s final season. ABC can push these two comedies somewhere else.

At least with LOST being on Tuesdays it gives my DVR a break on Thursday nights when everything else worth watching is on.

    • Zedikis Zul’Zorander

This is great news! Nothing good ever comes on Tuesday – now I have something to watch everyday of the week!

      • Zoey

Ditto! There’s something to watch on Tuesday again! Thank the tv gods! And who cares about those comedies?! It’s LOST people! WOO!

    • PMD

Should they not be putting Better Off Ted and Scrubs on Wed night for their comedy night?!?! I mean that makes more sense seeing that Hang and Eastwick have been cancelled!!

    • JD

Oh noes!!!1!!!eleven!!!1! What will happen to (the show formerly known as Scrubs which will now share next to nothing with the original) Scrubs or Better off Ted? What will happen to the results show of Dancing with People Some of You May Have Heard Of Simply Because You Read Entertainment Weekly Otherwise You’d Have No Clue Who They Are? Who gives a crap, Lost is back!!!

  • Ailene

Finally! I’ve been wondering about this! Glad its on Tuesday, I have nothing to watch usually.

  • derek

Interesting choice of Tuesday @ 9 ET. I assume they will pair Lost and V, followed by DWTS results.

  • John

does this mean there’s a good chance of Ugly Betty getting the Wednesday at 10 spot?? God, I hope so!

    • Michelle

      I HOPE SO!!

      • Diogo

        I also hope so!

  • Tom

Nice typo on ‘following’. Not to mention the previous Lost post had conflicting premiere dates (Feb. 2nd vs. Feb 9th). Man this is a such a quality website.

    • OMG

If the site is such crap, why waste your valuable time on it? Move on and stop complaining.

  • Paige

So….is Lost is going to be on Tuesdays, does that mean Ugly Betty will get Wednesdays?? *crossing fingers*

  • AJ

So why are you reading this “quality website”?

    • John

He’s the internet police. He has a little paper badge he made all by himself and EVERYTHING!

      • mel

You’re getting all excited over him pointing out the typos. Relax.

      • MattyB

        Hee!

  • MichaelSacal

It’s gonna suck if it turns out that Locke is really dead because when Ben killed him.

    • dave

I’m pretty sure Locke is dead. I felt that was pretty clearly revealed in last season’s finale. Of course, Terry O’Quinn is still in the show, but portraying the “Man in Black” pretending to be Locke.

      • MattyB

I wouldn’t be too sure about that. They made a pretty big deal about claiming that “dead is dead” & “there’s no coming back.” If you pay super-close attention to seemingly throaway dialog on Lost, you’ll realize that they often establish “fact” just to overthrow it at some point later. So, I’m holding hope that the real John Locke will be back and be better than ever. I still believe his mommy when she said he was immaculately conceived. I think Locke was made by The Island & that he’ll come back from death to save The Island.

  • J

Not sure how I feel about Tuesdays. It seems a little early in the week. I worry about those two-hour Idol episodes, too, but I think Ellen’s going to take a big bite out of those ratings.

In other news, Jeff Fahey is a regular! Woo hoo!

    • dave

With Lost being up against Idol, I agree the ratings may take a hit. But at this point, who cares? It doesn’t really matter anymore. There’s no worry about it being renewed or canceled or anything like that.

      • Zoey

I know, right? This season’s going down no matter what, so who cares? If people want to find out what happens, they’ll tune in. If they want to watch reality crap, they will.

    • steve

      Ellen sucks!!!! who cares

    • No-brainer

Idol is unstoppable. ABC is guaranteed to lose it. So why not fill that slot with the cancel-proof Lost? Besides, there’s not a person in America who was planning to watch Lost’s final season but now won’t because they have to watch Idol.

      • snickers

american idiot can go die in a fire and leave the good shows like lost alone.

      • John

Well, both Idol and Lost are DVR friendly, so I won’t be alone in not being bothered. (Lost gets the DVR so I can go back and see what I missed. Idol gets it because of the hideous amount of flller and commercials.)

And, as a viewer of both, I think its pretty fair to say that I will be in the majority of people who watch Lost first and come back to Idol after it is over.

  • OCAMPO

    YEAHHHHHHHHHH!! WOOT WOOT!!!!!

  • John Laurin

No desmond Henry ian cusiack :( at least hopefully he will appear in a couple of episodes

    • mscisluv

No Desmond, and he’s not even confirmed as a guest star! And Penny is on FlashForward. Sadly, their story isn’t even close to being wrapped up, so that sucks.

      • John

Well it really could be done and resolved if they didn’t keep saying “The Island isn’t done with you yet, Desmond!” last year, dammit!

      • Tony

It says right in the article..

“Not mentioned in the press release, but confirmed to return on a guest-star and/or recurring basis, are Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet), Ian Somerhalder (Boone), Rebecca Mader (Charlotte), Dominic Monaghan (Charlie), Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond), and Katey Sagal (Helen). That list will no doubt grow as the season progresses.”

So he will be returning as at least a guest star/recurring role.

      • gigi

Tony thank you!! I was freaking out thinking Desmond won’t be back!! With Flashforward on a brief hiatus, maybe Penny will be along for a longer stay!

    • Sarah

E! is reporting he will be a recurring character, just not full-time.

    • JT

Yes, need and want more Desmond and Penny!!!

    • niki

My husband named our dog Desmond (seriously). We need him and Penny back!

      • Steve

        I did that too.

  • Sarah

    YAYYYYY!!!!! :)

  • Kaiulani

    Spellcheck….Where’s Desmond????

    • Becky

      He’ll be guest starring/recurring. It’s something.

      • MattyB

He was nothing but a Guest Star last season too, but he was around quite a bit in the first few eps. Then he got shot & faded from the season. I would love it if Des showed up toward the end of the season to be a part of the finale.

Ultimately, they HAVE to address how he is affected by Jughead destroying the Hatch. Does it mean that Desmond never became “exceptional” or is he still a Man Out Of Time regardless of any new timeline alterations?

  • Skylar

Cannot wait…to see who else will be on the Island.

  • gusteaux

This is supposed to be good news? What happened to the previously announced premiere date of January 20? Now we have to wait an additional two weeks?

    • BlatantURLPimpingMustDie

Spread as a rumor by a fan site does not = “previously announced.”
