No loss on Oprah. Don’t really care who fills her time slot. Really like Ellen.

As far as soaps … Y&R is the only one I keep up with these days.

Ellen DeGeneres already replaced her in my mind!I use to be a HUGE O fan but I haven’t watch her for 2 years! I’m 28 and her show was starting to target an older audience!

Oprah has her fingerprints on most of the daytime talk shows – Rachel Ray, Phil, Nate Berkus, and Jenny McCarthy. She’s not going anywhere because she’s got “surrogates” working for her.

Who can fill her place? I like Wendy Williams. She’s funny, she’s hip, she’s real. She could take Oprah’s place. At one time i thought Rolanda would do it, but she pulled out and she’s producing now.

What will likely happen is what happen when there was a change in the daytime when all the judge shows came on, along with Morton Downry, Ricki Lake, Rolonda, etc. So many will fill the market and so many viewers will leave. Period. At the end of it, they’ll beg Oprah to come back.

    Whatever, who cares.

Such hatred. Tell me, again, what Oprah did to illicit such rude comments.

  • boink

Oprah jumped the shark a long time ago. She lost all credibility showcasing phony authors and making lousy political endorsements.

Ellen will become the King and not the Queen of daytime y’all! Tee-hee!

  • Sandra

Oprah certainly loves her name – The Oprah Show, O Magazine, Oprah Network….what’s next? The United States of Oprah? She’s much to about “me, me, me”.

This is such a premature article. Desperate for stories?

I would like to see either Tyra or Wendy Williams fill that role…not Ellen. She does not need to leave NBC for ABC, because then there would be her vacuum at NBC. Taking Oprah’s “place” is not just speaking about her 4 p.m (Or whatever it is in your market) showing on ABC-its taking her figurative place as THE definitive talk show host of our time. Ellen is already making a name for herself in that regard. But so is Tyra. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tyra switches from the CW to ABC in 2011. Tyra seems to be the voice of the young generation, especially young women. She could carry that torch for quite a while as those young women grow up and begin to have families of their own, the same way Oprah’s fan base has grown with her over the last 25 years. Wendy Williams is also a possible name to throw around, but she’s not on the short list. Not yet- her show is starting to make a name for itself too but its till just a new show and needs to be more established before it takes Oprah’s place, however Tyra’s show is established and her following is cemented already. But I guess time will tell, won’t it?

Sadly, if Tyra is the voice of the next generation I’m off to find a good doomsday cult. Gotta catch the next comet out of here.

I think anyone in this world is replaceable.
Phil Donahue, years ago, did really well. Then, shows like Springer and Oprah cam on and he handed over the reins.
And, for those who miss Oprah after her show ends, she will be on her own cable network at that time.

  • lmb

I think Soldedad O’Brien would be a good candidate to take over her show. I dont understand why people are suggesting people who already have crappy shows like Tyra. Tyra is no Oprah. Ellen is good. Dr. Oz is ok but neither of them are Oprah.

Oprah is irreplaceable. Oh thank you Lord my Jesus there will NEVER be another Oprah. My gurgling chuggling nauseatic stomach will finally have some relief. So yeah, no one can replace her.
